There was something about the way the young man seemed to freak out that almost made Jefferson more giddy. He wasn't sure why. It made no logical sense but he was grinning and even snickering the more that the young man panicked about being in the woodlands. "The thing is, I could speak in riddles with you if you wanted but the thing is that I find I'm more in the habit of madness than anything else...the family trade is hatting, I have you know."

He looked at the other as he freaked that he might have been drugged or he might have been transported somewhere while under influences. "Well you didn't eat the mushroom or drink anything that said eat or drink me. You're not as tall as a giant or as small as a mouse, so you're definitely not on the wonderland diet."

He turned, and brandished his hat and raised a brow. "You can call me Jefferson Hightopp, I am the hatter of hatters and the maddest of the mad. That has been what many have called me and many more of said. Some might even say I lost my head a time or two. They wouldn't be wrong you know."

"I'm Jefferson, Jefferson Hightopp, the Hatter of the Enchanted Forrest and the portal jumper of this world. And who are you inquisitive and explicit one?"

"If it isn't a me but you're not a me, are you? You look like me, but you're not nearly as deranged. Tell me, do you have a mouse in your jam jar too?" He tilted his head and smiled, grinning with a mischievous smile. "The thing is I think I know you, you're a senator's son, aren't you?"

"You know, Madeline, you remind me of me. In the best of ways," he smiled softly, brushing back his hair from his face and looking at her with a shake of his head. "Do be wary of queens, some that take hearts take heads as well."

"The thing about deal makers is they always....come to take and sometimes what they take isn't what you planned."

The fact that he was driving him to madness was in fact irony. It was entirely maddening that he was gripping at the sheets and kept pinned down ass up and head down. He bit down on the pillowcase and cried out Killian's name again against the muffling barrier that the pillow had made.
