For my first post ever on this blog...
MUNDANE OVER MAGICAL! MUNDANE OVER MAGICAL! MUNDANE OVER MAGICAL!
No, the crow you saw outside isn't a sign the gods are talking to you. You live in North America.
Your friend gifting you a plushie doesn't mean it's a sign to start worshiping a god. Your friend was just being nice.
You having a dream about a storm doesn't mean bad things are going to happen in the future. It just means you had a dream about a storm.
Now, if these things start happening repeatedly, or if you genuinely believe there is some sort of important relevance, then yes you can believe it's a sign! And there can be magic in everything, even more mundane things. But please always make sure to keep your expectations realistic and grounded. Trying to force something that isn't meant to be will only end up poorly for you in the long run.
Our brains more often than not get in the way and skew our perception of situations based on our past experiences, so you should always think things over with a critical eye. This doesn't just go for witchcraft, but media consumption as well. You also never have to make a decision to follow a deity right away, you can take your time. The gods have existed for thousands of years, they can wait a few weeks for you to start worshiping them.

Hello all. Please call me Basalt. My old blog was the-lost-kemetic, but I decided to rebrand and post here instead.
If you want to talk to me about fandom stuff, my main blog is @basalamander-corner.
I'm a devotee to Lady Sekhmet, Lady Wadjet, and Lord Sutekh. I've been a practicing Kemetic for around 7 years, although I've practiced witchcraft my entire life. My original blog was aimed to answer questions at beginners, although I've started to talk more about academic sources and my own beliefs. I no longer tailor my content towards those new, but feel free to send in an ask and I'll try to help out.
I may write about other pantheons, but please don't follow me for that sort of content. You won't get it consistently.
This blog is highly critical towards certain beliefs/practices within the witchcraft/pagan community. The main one is Wicca and beliefs in the divine feminine, although there are others. I don't need to justify why I am critical towards this. If you don't like it, then you can leave this blog.
This blog also respects the rights of closed practices.

FAQ below the cut
"Why do you write a/p/e/p or i/s/f/e/t?
One word: heka. It's the belief that words and names have power, by speaking a name, you give it power. This goes for typing it out as well. I don't wish to give power to a being that wishes to devour the world, so I censor the name.
Can you teach me [x]? Can you be by mentor?
I can give you some tips and tricks, and some advice. But I will not spoonfeed you information. You have to be able to trust your own ability to study and research. You shouldn't listen to one source of information.
Can you make a spell/sigil/ritual for me?
Short answer, no. Long answer, it depends. I can help you to come up with a ritual, or something similar. I can help point you in the right direction, or give tips and tricks. But I believe all spells, sigils, and rituals work the best when you put your own energy into creating it.
Are you pro-curse?
Yes.
