Students Should Choose Their Own Subjects at School

In Indonesia, generally all schools use the same system of setting the student’s subjects in school. The problem with this education system is students are actually spending much too much time in classes with the subjects that are not their passions. Students should be able to choose their own classes because it will prepare them better for the real world. Students will have more motivation to learn and come to school if they were given the opportunity to choose their own classes instead of being required to take certain subjects in order to graduate. When students have the ability to choose what they would like to learn about, it makes them more eager to engage with the material. Therefore, I believe that student should have the freedom to choose every subject they want to learn.

Firstly, some people think that students are kids who cannot make the right decision like choosing the subjects for them. They consider students are not capable enough to decide whether those subjects they choose are good or not for them. This assumption becomes the basis knowledge of people toward students. Whereas, students skills or passions has been shown since they start learning before going to school. Students only have one chance to choose the subject for their passions and career in school. This first step of education should be used to build students character in the passions they have. It helps students to support their interest to focus on one particular subject. Hence, it will not bother students to think of other subjects in whole years of schooling that they are not interested in because they just need to learn the subject they are into.

Second, in Indonesia, there are some subjects that become compulsory subjects in school. For example, history and Pancasila education, both are compulsory subject that should be learnt by all students. However, these subjects need to be known as the basic knowledge of student in Indonesia. In the other hand, students do not need to learn these subjects in whole years. They still focus on their passion in a particular subject because students just learn both compulsory subjects as introductory not deeply. Students can decide what they are going to be in the future after focusing one particular subject. Therefore, they are ready to face the world they want to achieve since they focus on one particular subject for their future profession.

Last, people think that giving a chance to make students select their own subjects does not guarantee success. The failure in choosing subjects are becoming the fear from parents or teachers because students might feel bored or tired of the subjects they choose. Being bored of the subjects can be the strongest reason for students to stop or give up on their education. Besides, students will be more responsible of their decision. They will put a big effort to reach what they dream since they choose the subject. Also, it will broaden the knowledge of students mind. It will teach them to think before doing or deciding. They will be ready to face the world because they have been able to select since they are children.

To sum up, students should have the freedom to choose their own subjects in school because they know their own passion and interest. By giving them a chance to choose, they can start setting their education goal as expert in their own field.

Designer Babies: Creating Your Perfect Babies

The development of technology in medical issue has massively increased. Lately, British scientists have developed a "Genetic moT" test to help people to get perfect babies genitically. They tried to modify the embryos by using a new technic of karyomapping. Simply, parent can choose the characteristics of their future babies whether they are boy or girl, black or white, blond or curly hair, tall or short. I think it is the most horrible thing in the world where people no more be controlled by God. Clearly, this designing babies are going to create many problem about human race. Therefore, I believe that this technology just bring negative impacts for medical and global world.

According to The Guardian magazine, around 7.9 million children each year born with serious birth defect which is significantly caused by genetic problem. Today researchers have the chance to restrain the defect of embryonic pace by editing or modifying embryo in order all parents could have best babies healthily. This basic purpose of new technology is to develop the science technology exactly in medical problem. In addition, this technology also gives hope to cure genetic diseases or disorder. For example, 44-year-old Brian Madeux – who has a metabolic disease called Hunter syndrome – received billions of copies of a corrective gene through an IV, along with a tool to cut his DNA in the relevant location was successfully done by UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, California ASSOCIATED PRESS. It is proven that the technology of designer babies will bring good effect in medical world and human life. In the other hand, human cannot let the tecnology of science plays on human life. These babies should not be the tool of researchers experiments. There are still many people who strongly reject this idea of designer babies. Here are some reasons why designer babies should not be done.

The risk of creating serious disease because of the side effect such as diabetes, heart disease, or cancer is bigger. Based on the International Summit on Human Gene Editing in Washington, DC, around 150 scientists, health practitioners, scholars, and others led by the Center for Genetics and Society (CGS) have united to ban the genitic modification exactly designer babies because there is no gurantee or justification that it is saved for them. Therefore, some scientist agree to aginst this technology because the risk is too big for them.

Second, the misuse of this new technology cannot be denied. When people are always trying to create new research in technology, there always be a big misuse which is caused by irresponsible people. For example that the tried this technology illegaly without the right derctive by the professionals. Moreover, it impacts human race that cannot be cotrolled naturally. As the fact that some countries in the world avoid the birth of female babies which obviously can increase inequality and sex schism of man and woman. So the misuse of this technology creates several big problems.

Last, this technology undermines humanity. According to Pete Shanks, a consultant researcher in the CSG (Center for Genetics and Society) stated that "But now, with new technology, the fantasy could become reality. Once the process begins, there will be no going back. This is a line we must not cross.” means that these researches who keep developing the designer babies technology have gone to far and strided the border of humanity as researchers. Hence, researchers should know the boundary of science research in order not to undermine the humanity.

To sum up, designer babies cannot bring good effect for our lifes. This technology is just too risky is like the babies are only a tool of researchers experiments. Hence, it also undermines humanity that should have not been crossed by researchers. Therefore, I strongly believe that this technology just bring more harm than good.

Is Designer Babies good idea?

Children that is smart, attractive appearance, and having good personality always be every parents dream because it is almost impossible. Many ways that our ancestor gave to give a slight chance to improve our children even before they were born. That kind of way is too old and people nowadays not believing it anymore. Technology has developing much further and now there is a way to modify children when they were just a cell to create every parents dream to have the “best” children called Designer Babies. Some people say Designer baby is a way to make a better future, but I believe that Designer Babies are bad idea for the future.

Have you ever thought about possibility of ‘modify’ your own children? It does sound crazy and bizarre, right? I believe parents all around the world want to have the perfect children, and maybe take risks in order to get the best. The technology named designer baby has answered parents’ pray about having perfect kids. A designer baby is a baby that is created through a genetic modification process. It also involves transferring the genes to create opportunities for the genetic makeup. In some cases, the embryo is first screened before it is implanted in the body, or other gene therapy techniques help create the desired type of characteristics in the baby. Despite the fact that this awesome technology can help parents 'design’ their children, I personally think designer baby is not appropriate to be done.
