Things to consider while creating a website.
Hello, World!
Welcome back to my blog. This is probably going to be my last post in a long while and I would like to talk about creating or bulding a website, and the things you should consider while at it. I am currently building a website for my course work using HTML and CSS and I would love to share with you guys the things I put into consideration when I began but first, what is web design?
Tumblr media
Web design is the process of creating a website that focuses on aesthetic considerations such as format, content, UI, and other visual symbolism to make the site more outwardly engaging and simple to use. A web designer is responsible for the appearance, format, and, on occasion, content of a website. Appearance, for example, refers to the colors, textual style, and images used. Responsive and adaptive design are two of the most well-known ways for creating websites that work effectively on both desktop and mobile devices. In responsive design, content changes gradually based on screen size; in adaptive design, site content is fixed in layout sizes that correspond to standard screen sizes.
The majority of webpages are created using a coded language known as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). HTML tags distinguish the content of the site for each page. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is then utilized to define the overall visual appearance of each page (Please check previous posts for HTML and CSS). Now what should you think about when creating a website?
The firs thing you should consider is what the website should look like. That is,
Visual Appearance and Overall Layout: Obviously, the overall appearance of your website is an important aspect of website construction. We're using these broad terms to describe a wide range of responses you'd like your guests to have. Because first impressions are crucial, you must impress your audience as soon as the website loads. That indicates your design should be simple, familiar, instinctual, clean, and accessible, to name a few adjectives.
Secondly, you should think about the Colour Scheme. The Color palette and font styles should directly inform your audience assessments regarding your site. Concerning picking a color palette, focus on your image or industry points of view, alongside your intended interest group demographics to make this a fairly easy cycle.
Another thing you should consider is the typography. You'll need to strike a balance between routine and novelty in the site's overall style and format. Arial or Times New Roman will be easily recognized by design experts. Look for something a little different, but avoid Comic Sans at all costs. Your text should be viewable, which implies that the body copy should be at least 16 pixels wide. 3.
The Navigation is also very important. The navigation of your website is not a place for you to be innovative. Most importantly, avoid being sucked into the trap of overly animated hover effects and sophisticated, multi-layered subnavs. Navigational elements that should be present in a site's header, body, and footer should solely function to direct your readers to the information they need as quickly as possible.
Your Content. Pay attention to how your messaging connects with your design. Given that people have a short attention span, material should be simple to read and grasp. Make use of headings and display text to help your viewers understand the information you're providing. Separate large lists into ordered or unordered lists rather than utilizing long, meandering sentences.
Did I forget to mention to consider the appearance of your website on mobile devices? The measure of mobile web traffic surpassed desktop traffic in late 2016 and shows no signs of slowing. If you're planning your own bespoke style, you'll need to make sure you're covered by one of two main options: a responsive format that changes to different screen sizes or a mobile possibly look that is implemented when a non-desktop device tries to access your website.
I hope with these few points of mine, I have been able to inform an up and coming web developer like myself and other web developers. We learn everyday, don’t we? lol lol lol...
Alright guys... I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your year.. I really enjoyed sharing my thoughts and research findings with you guys. I hope I continue to do more of that in real life and hopefully it has nothing to do with my school work..hahaha. Ok... Thanks very much for taking your precious time to read words from my precious thoughts.. Byeeeee

Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Hello, World!
Welcome back to my blog! how has the year been going for you?
Todayyy, I want to talk about Artificial Intelligence.. Yea, I know.... Some of us hear the word a lot but dont even know what it means. Well, I’m going to try my best to explain what Artificial Intelligence is, and how useful it is to us as humans.
Tumblr media
So guys, the goal of artificial intelligence is to create machines that can think and act intelligently. While AI applications can have a positive impact on humanity, their misuse is always a risk, and it is likely a far higher risk than the application itself becoming out of control. Because AI application is advancing at such a rapid pace, it is critical to begin debating the best ways for AI to evolve positively while minimizing its negative potential. This essay will look at the ethical challenges of AI and who should be held accountable.
Since the dawn of time, "Autocrats have utilized automatons as weapons since antiquity, not only in myth, but in actuality," Adrienne Mayor writes. In her book, Tyrants and Robots, she described how Nabis, King of Sparta in 207 BC, used a robot he created in a well-executed replica of his real wife, Apega, to extort, torture, and execute masses of his subjects, and with this robotic device, Nabis destroyed a good number of Spartans who refused his demands.
However, in recent years, AI systems have been designed to make our daily lives more convenient and efficient, and they have been built with human-like behavior: reasoning, decision-making, and learning to adapt. However, based on existing AI, artificial consciousness appears unlikely to be created very soon. For example, even if self-driving cars reduce the frequency of accidents and save many lives, if the system takes lives in the near future due to certain unanticipated behaviors, the system will be considered a failure.
So now the questions we should ask are; Should the AI system be held criminally liable for its action? What laws should apply? Who or what would be punished for AI systems liability and what sort of punishment should this be?
Well, Isaac Asimov, a science fiction writer and professor, predicted the need for ethical norms for AI behavior in 1942. His three rules are as follows:
A robot may not damage a human being or cause a human to be wounded by inaction.
Human-given directions must be obeyed by a robot, unless such orders violate the first law.
A robot must safeguard its own existence as long as it does not violate the first or second laws.
But are these rules sufficient to prevent AI from causing harm? However, Dr. Joanna Bryson, a renowned specialist in the usage of AI, argues that humans and organizations must be held accountable for the AI that they create, and that transparency and responsible governance are required to protect individuals and society.
Therefore, whilst the present day AI are still systems programmed to follow flow charts and run algorithms, of course, human should be responsible for any misstep or negligence.
Alright guys, I hope with this few information I have given, you now have an Idea of what Artificial Intelligence means to us. Now ask yourself... Do you support AI or not? please let me know in the comment section. Ok guyss... byeeee...

Static vs Dynamic Websites
Hello World!
Welcome to a new year!
I hope your’re excited about the new year, cause I am, except for the fact that i’m getting old, kikiki. Well, I’m here to talk about the difference between Static websites and Dynamic websites.
Tumblr media
What is a Static Website? Static websites are ones that are fixed and display the same content for every user, usually written exclusively in HTML.
What is a Dynamic Website?  A dynamic website is one that can display different content and provide user interaction, by making use of advanced programming and databases in addition to HTML. In a neutral meaning, static denotes fixed, whereas dynamic means adaptable (which is understandable). A static website is one that has the same contents for every user because it is usually created with HTML and CSS in a simple text editor, whereas a dynamic website is more complex and functional because its contents are displayed in different forms and interactions based on the website algorithm, and it is created with advance databases and programming in addition to the HTML and CSS.
So, to summarize... A static website simply makes use of client-side HTML and CSS, but a dynamic website makes use of both client-side and server-side languages such as PHP and MySQL. The aim of the website influences whether a static or dynamic website is used,
I hope you enjoyed reading this. Thank you for taking your time to read it. Do have a lovely week...Byeeee

Content Management Systems
Hello, World!
A Content Management System (CMS) is a software tool that allows users to create, maintain, and modify content on a website without having to adjust the source code. This software application may be used without any specialized technical knowledge because it allows you to create a website even if you don't know how to write or are unfamiliar with any programming languages. Multiple contributors can also develop, edit, and publish content. You can have complete control over your website's content if you use a content management system. CMS handles a variety of functions in addition to web content management, such as document management.
Tumblr media
The purpose of a content management system (CMS) is to allow users to alter database information, template files, and design styles without having to know how to code or how databases function. It also ensures that all of your content is displayed to your clients in the manner that you desire. There are many of CMS options for websites, including WordPress, Drupal, Wix, and Grid, all of which work differently and provide for different levels of access and control. In my next post, i’m going to be talking about WordPress, as that is what I plan to use to create my personal website. Check out the WordPress website on www.wordpress.org

Blockchain Technology and Bitcoin.
Hello, World!
Welcome back to my blog!
A lot of people frequently confuse bitcoin and blockchain because bitcoin was the first ever application of blockchain, causing the two concepts to be confused for each other. In this article, I am going to explain the difference between Blockchain and Bitcoin. First,  what is Blockchain?
Tumblr media
Fundamentally, the blockchain is a linked network of data chunks. According to Don Tapscott, blockchain as a technology that allows peer-to-peer transactions to take place without the need for a middleman such as a bank or governing authority. The blockchain approves and preserves a permanent public record of all transactions while keeping the user's information anonymous. In this context, the terms block and chain refer to digital information "blocks" kept in a public database "chains."
Tumblr media
What is Bitcoin?
To put it simply, bitcoin is the cryptocurrency application of the block-chain. It is also defined as an intangible unit of account that facilitates the decentralized computer network of Bitcoin users, according to an article published by Arnold.
The term "blockchain" refers to a technical protocol that establishes transactions in a peer-to-peer trusted system. To demonstrate, blockchain generates a fingerprint called a "hash" of a digital transaction, and each transaction generates an entry into the block-activity chain's log, which is sometimes referred to as the "ledger." Each fingerprint is unique to the ledger, and when another transaction is added to the ledger, blockchain takes the existing fingerprint and places it beneath the new transaction, forming a chain. A new hash is then generated for both the new and old ledgers. Each block in this procedure contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data. What distinguishes blockchain is that the ledger is not owned or stored by any individual or organization.Instead, every transaction that is carried out has a copy of the transaction's information recorded on every computer that was involved in the transaction.
So guys, with these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to tell the difference between Blockchain and Bitcoin?
Thank you for taking your time to read this, Alright byeeee

Digital News: Metaverse, A Disruptive Technology that will Alter reality.
Hello World!
Welcome back to my blog!
Today, I am going to be talking about Metaverse. I know a lot of us has heard about it, especially when Facebook changed its name to “Meta”. Youre probably wondering what that means right? Read more...hahaha
So for a long time, new innovations have been birthed from the likes of the internet and now, a digital universe that blurs the line to the real world, “Metaverse”. The concept of metaverse has been discussed for a while now, and it focuses on creating a digitalized universe that merges different virtual worlds while using the concept of augmented reality to make the real-world blend with the virtual one.
Tumblr media
Facebook recently changed its name to Meta to buttress its interests in developing the concept of metaverse further. Zuckerberg believes that in the future humans will spend a great deal of their time in a digital environment, interacting with others, and going about their daily activities. Metaverse will alter the meaning of presence.  Some of the successes that Facebook has made in the metaverse space are Oculus VR, and Horizon meeting space for meetings of different kinds. It is doing more to blur out the differences between both worlds. Facebook, not minding its successful publicity strategy, is not the only company that is focusing on metaverse. Roblox, a videogame company is incorporating the concept in its game, and actively researching on improving it in its games. Nvidia Corporation is also working on a metaverse that will cater to the needs of engineers all over the globe, and it is called, Omniverse. To improve the way metaverse works, Fastly is working on creating an innovative cloud computing service.
Tumblr media
Now the question is, how will it alter reality?
Metaverse is an innovation that will alter almost every industry. I believe it will change how people learn, work, interact, and even shop. There are pockets of digital world concepts in different platforms, but they are not as complex as one would expect in a true metaverse. Different companies are currently in a competition to create an inclusive metaverse experience.
It is believed that the metaverse will be filled with hyper-reality activities, which could lead to sensory overload. Sensory overload may cause issues for those that are susceptible to seizures. Anyone can be anything in a metaverse, meaning that kids may take the form of adults in one, which may expose them to information that is above their age grade. Another question is, will the metaverse incorporate age restrictions? Data privacy is another cause of concern for many people as regards metaverse because exploring a digital world will definitely open users. If the aforementioned is handled effectively, then I think it could drive massive adoption.

Philosophy & Ethics of Technology
Hello, World!!
Welcome back to my blog!.
So I was listening to one of my lecturer’s podcast (Waseem Akhtar) and It’s called "Philosophy & Ethics of Technology" with Professor Peter-Paul Verbeek. Professor Peter-Paul Verbeek is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy of Technology at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Twente. He is chair of the Philosophy of Human-Technology Relations research group and co-director of the DesignLab of the University of Twente. He is also honorary professor of Techno-Anthropology at Aalborg University, Denmark and is chairperson of the UNESCO World Commission on the Ethics of Science and Technology (COMEST). His research focuses on the philosophy of human-technology relations, and aims to contribute to philosophical theory, ethical reflection, and practices of design and innovation.
Tumblr media
So Professor Peter-Paul started by talking about the history and development of Technology. He says people are threatened by technology and this is because it has an impact on how we live our lives. As soon as we started using the writing technology, it had a great impact on our memories and it got pholosophers really worried. He says technology is an opportunity to re-invent ourselves. Professor Paul-Peter defined Philosophy of Technology as a sub-field of Philosophy. It helps to understand what technology is and how we can ask the right questions about technology and evaluate it. He stated that technology is a way of thinking about the world, where the world becomes a manipulative object, and we become the manipulative subject. Technology differentiates human beings from animals and it helps to shape how we live our lives.
Professor Paul-Peter also talked about mediation being a way to express our technology, like the means or medium that we use to express technology, For example, if you think that technology is a will to power, the medium and means of technology will show that. On one hand, you think you’re in control of technology, next minute, you see it taking over you, this is where ethics of technology comes in. Ethics of technology helps to shape our ideas and interaction of technology. He used the Anastasia as an example. Its a good technology that has helped people to be operated on without feeling pains.
He emphasized that we need to understand the principles and ethics regarding robots, we need to evaluate it from with-in and understand it more deeply how it can impact our lives. Robots shouldn’t be seen as a replacement for humans. It’s not about asking if they should be allowed in our society, instead we should figure out what values we need to follow, when we give them a place in our society. People thinking we will become slaves to technology is science fiction, and it’s not bad if technology is smarter than humans. For example, a human  would prefer working with a shovel than using their hands to dig. So the question is, how can we deal with Technology and Artificial Intelligence? How can we make it explainable and avoid the ideas of being biased and naive?
Tumblr media
Dear Humans, we need technology to have the power we do not possess, to fill up the incomplete spaces. We should see technology as mediators and not replacement for us because we are involved in appriopriating technology. I think we shouldn’t be scared of how technology evolves, instead, we should see it as a way of making life easier for us. We need to start by having discipline and ethics to prevent technology from taking over us humans, once we have this, technology shouldnt be something we should be scared about. Therefore, lets embrace technology and accept it into our lives.

Nature at its peak using p5.js
Tumblr media
Hello, World!
Welcome back to my precious-thoughts.
I know i have been talking too much about HTML and CSS. I have decided to take a break on that for now and praise myself, for my little design I created using p5.js web editor.
I also know that it feels like i’m trying to bombard you all with IT terms . I can imagine the questions going on in your heads, like what is p5.js...
p5.js web editor is a JavaScript library with the goal of making coding accessible to artists, designers, educators, and beginners.
The picture above represents nature  and it was designed by my humble self, using p5,js, It’s a static image I designed some months back for my Multimedia Programming Course.
I still look at this picture and praise myself. Trust me guys, I put enough effort into this.
I remember when I started, It seemed fun, until I decided to design my girraffe. I know its supposed to be a static image but even my girraffe looks like a non living thing...hahaha, even my lecturer confirmed that. The easiest was the lawn where they are all standing on, I mean it’s very easy to draw an ellipse and different types of colored ellipses right on top of it, isn’t it?. As for the elephant, people said it looked like me, kikiki.
For this picture, i used shapes such as ellipse, triangles, rectangles. I also used lines. Lastly, i used different colors to depict the importance of every structure.
For a better view of this picture, here is a link;

Difference between Webpage and Website
Tumblr media
Hello World!
Welcome back to my blog...
So a lot of people ask me this question most of the time, and it became rampant from the time I made my previous post. People tend to mix up a Webpage and a Website together. Well, the thing is whether you are new to the digital world or not, you may be making the common error of confusing webpage with website. Yes, I have experienced this multiple times because they appeared to be the same to me, but now I know they are not. The point is, if you understand the distinction, you'll realize why you should differentiate them. So let's all learn together!
Tumblr media
A webpage is similar to a book page that contains information, whereas a website is the book itself. Did you catch that? Okay! To be more specific, a website can contain multiple sites that begin with the same url but conclude with different URLs. For instance, www.preciousthoughts.com/about, www.preciousthoughts.com/product, and www.preciousthoughts.com/contact. All of these are pages from the same website, www.preciousthoughts.com. Knowing this can help with components of digital media campaigns, I recall, when I was looking for a product online, Google directed me to a webpage where the goods was located; Google did not lead me to the website where I might begin searching. Or when I was searching for a website where I could order some Pizza, Google didn’t direct me to a web page where I could search for my favorite pizza, instead Google directed me straight to websites where I could order various kinds of food and pizza... Isn't that incredible?
I hope you all understand it now and I hope I was able to make it clear to you that a Web page is different from a Website.

My Personal Profile Site
Hello, Wolrd!
Welcome back to my blog! I feel super excited today. Do you know why? I am about to show you, the work of my hands, my sweat, and my hardwork that turned to a success.
I created a Profile Site for myself. Yea.. that’s right. This was an assignment given to us in school. We were asked to  create a 2-page website, with stylesheet. Each page must have a title of my name and student number.
I am going to show you the first page. For the first page, we were asked to feature an image of ourselves, a paragraph about us and a quote we like. This was what your girl created.
Tumblr media
To be honest, I’m prettier than I look in pictures. I should work on becoming photogenic, but I guess that’s a discussion for another day, lol. Now, I am going to reveal the second page to you guys. Before I do that, let me tell you what we were asked to do. So, we were asked to write 5 things about ourselves, our 5 favourite movies, and lastly, our 5 favourite websites.
Tumblr media
Incase you’re wondering what would happen to me if my phone gets lost or stolen, well, I’m still going to survive, yea, like a walking dead, lol...
So, as you can see, the back ground color is light grey, the header and footer has the same background color, which is black, you can notice my school logo on the bottom right of both pages. All those things are part of what we were asked to do.
It looks quite easy does’nt it? hahaha... Well, it’s only going to be easy for those who listen in class, for the rest of us, who always forgot to close our tags, even when my lecturer always reminded us to, will be frustrated, The assignment frustrated me! But Guess what guys! you’re looking at a survivor. I had sleepless nights, I cried..lol...I cried, i’m not gonna lie. I’m actually a very emotional person and I cry when I get frustrated, I’m human, and I can’t help it, kikiki. But look at me now, I did it, and It may not be a 100% but I worked so hard, and I am proud of myself, irrespective of what my lecturer grades me, lol. But mehnn, I don’t mind getting a 100% I need it...hahaha. So, I hope I have not only been able to convince you guys that HTML and CSS is something you can learn, but I have also been able to let you guys know a liitle bit about me. Atleast, now you know I hate chips and I love eating raw onions..kikiki and ummm...I am a dead man, walking, without my phone, I’m sure its like that for so many of us, so I do not feel lonely, lol.

Update on My Dummy Website!
Hello, World!
Welcome back to my blog! So far, I have been sharing with you guys, all that I learn in class every week. This is me, giving you guys an update on what I have learned so far... the work of my hands, lol.
Learning HTML and CSS has been a rollercoster. There were ups and downs. To be very honest, it hasn’t been easy, because it requires constant practice, which is quite difficult to keep up with due to my schedule. Having to work and school at the same time... Mehnn... it’s not even easy at all. There were times I was frustrated and almost broke my laptop, lol.. because it’s either my code wasn’t running or I wasn’t getting it right. At some point, I almost gave up, lmao. I was like, you know what... “f*ck it!”... I can’t do this anymore..It’s not for me, Lol. It’s just like learning a different language, like french or spanish or Arabic!.. yes... Arabic! It’s just like teaching me Arabic and I am expected to learn it within a very short time (3 months). Now I feel like crying even more because my Lecturer keeps bringing up new topics every week. They say, “The higher you go, the hotter it becomes”. I never understood that until now.
Anyways, I am not trying to discourage anyone here, lol. I consider myself to be very terrible at learning languages. I can’t even speak or read or even write my own language, let alone, learning a language that looks like Arabic, lol. The only language I know very well is English, and even at that, my English is still terrible, hahaha...kikikiki.
I have no idea why i’m giving you guys so much details of my life... guess it’s part of owning a blog.. or maybe i’m just excited to show you guys what I have done so far in class. So who remembers my second post, where I posted a dummy website I created using HTML? Well, if you don’t remember, please check previous posts, lol.. I sound like a real blogger..hehehe. But to save you the stress, i’m just going to post a screen shot of my dummy website, when it was first created.
Tumblr media
So that’s it right there, looking all boring and disorganised. When I first created that page, I didn’t have the slightest idea about CSS. So guys, Guess what!!!!... I have started using CSS to style my dummy website and it is starting to look amazing. Let me show you...
Tumblr media
I know...I know.. You would rather continue with the second page than the first. So what did I do differently? Do you want to know? Are you sure you really want to know? Ok, OK!, I will telll you.....I included CSS..lol.. What else were you expecting to hear..hahaha. Ok let me give you a brief explanation. I added color, as you see, there are background colors, and text colors as well. Also, I used Padding and Margins. In my previous posts, I talked about Margins and Paddings. You can check it out.
However, new topics are being introduced every week, so the best is yet to come. I must commend my Lecturer (Ruari), he’s doing a really good job, he tries his best to carry us along, and it’s been awesome so far. I’m sorry guys, you may not have Ruari as your lecturer, lol. But the least I can do for you is to drop a link I can trust, where you can learn how to use HTML and CSS for free. Please find the link: https://www.w3schools.com/
Ok, you’re welcome...kikiki
Alright, thank you for taking your time to read this, see you guys next week on My Preciousthoughts! Byyyyyyeeeee!

The Flex Box Challenge!
Hello World!
Welcome back to my blog. So in my previous post, I talked about the box model and how useful it is to websites ( check previous post). Today, I’m here to talk about the “Flex Box”.
The Flexbox is a “one-dimensional” layout model. It offers space distribution between items and powerful methods for alignment. When I use the word  “One-dimensional” I mean that it allows you to layout items in one direction, that is in rows or columns. The image below will show a clear description of all I have just written;
Tumblr media
The Image shows different layouts, the first one is in columns, the second one is in rows.
The flex box may be “one-dimensional, but it can be set and controlled to however we want it. You can wrap it if there isn’t enough room for items, they will spill over to the next line, like the image below;
Tumblr media
The flex box can also be controlled by making it also look like the image below;
Tumblr media
The flex box can help you design your websites to your satisfaction, whatever rocks your boat...lol.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, the image above is just a summary of what I have been talking about. Some of the websites we visit may be similar to what we have in the above picture. All these didn’t just happen like magic. It’s the use of the flex box. The image above, shows three different articles in one page. This will help your page look well organised and grouped properly.

The Box Model
Hello World!
Welcome back to my blog... or should I welcome myself back to Tumblr, since I post once every week? Lol.
Today, i’m going to talk about “The Box Model”. The Box Model is how CSS governs white-space and borders around elements. The model box is made up of four areas;
1. The content in the middle
2. Padding which surrounds the content
3. A Border
4. The entire box which is offset from other element by a margin.
I know what i have just written, may not make sense to you, lol. So i’m just going to upload a picture, so you can relate.
Tumblr media
The picture above shows what a box model looks like.
The writtings in the box (Lorem ipsum....), that is the content in the middle.
Padding is that space between the content and the border. You know our words can’t be jampacked, so we need padding (spaces) in between.
As seen on the image, the border is that line that covers the content and padding, there are  different types of border, but I guess that’s a story for another day, lol.
The margin helps us to know the entire box. Like the picture below. We can tell the difference from one box and another box.
Tumblr media
This image right here shows different Box Models...yea.. that’s right. I think you’re beginning to understand what I mean now, huh?
So at this point, we have learnt about different ways of creating paddings, margins, borders, colors, texts, etc. We are currently developing our dummy websites and its been awesome so far.
Finally guys, this is it... The box Model... I haven’t really imagined how its done, until I started this class. I just open series of websites and I just find them there and click on which ever that interests me. I’m sure there are more people like me, so this is me, letting you all know how it’s done... ok, you’re welcome, kikiki...
Thank you for taking your time to read this, see you guys next week on My Preciousthoughts! Byyyyyyeeeee!
