Busy work has meant no chance to shoot new images, and now I’m back to the lovely British grey! Looking through what I managed to capture last year and trying to make plans for this year.. For now enjoy this image of moose lake, which frustratingly had no moose 😂 but it was one of the most serene places I’ve ever visited. Exploring off the main road in Bella Coola, on the way to find some waterfalls I came across this spot to practice some long exposures. The fast flowing water mixed with the contrast of the bridge and forest made this one of my favourites. This was one of my personal highlights from visiting Canada last year 🇨🇦 A young mum with her first cubs in tow. Chatting to others it appears that being a new mum was difficult for her and she kept forgetting where he cubs were, got into a panic only to find them in the hedges next to her. This buzzard had been in a bit of a scrap, but lucky for me I wasn’t seen as a threat so I was able to get closer than I have previously to this bird of prey. They kept a close eye on me, but weren’t overtly bothered by the camera. After a small operation on my hand I can’t shoot for a while but I can finally get around to editing a whole load of images that I’ve been putting off, like this puffin! My first time trying to photograph from a kayak! This was the day after landing in Victoria, jet lagged and bobbing around the sea I still managed to enjoy capturing some images of the harbour seals laying on the rocks looking very content with themselves. I have a love hate relationship with this image, it was the first time I got a clear shot of a Canadian grizzly, the one animal I was wanting to photograph. But technically I don’t like it, there’s noise, the focus isn’t pin sharp and the background is messy. However I think I’m being overly harsh in my own criticism, and when I zoom out and look at the image as a whole I do still like it.
