Act I

I am at the finishing end of 21 years of life; toiling, developing, thrashing about as flesh and bone and blood and brain careen across this incidental drama. In constant search for the next arena, I have experienced intensity and profundity sans translation. It has been as though the competing wills of Good and Evil have hand-delivered hard earned lessons in a sequence describable as both "fate" and "fatal". 

As though split between warring parents, these forces have made efforts of life-altering magnitude toward my recruitment. And yet--as a man takes lumber to prepare the fundaments to build a house for himself with his own strength, I labor with measuring eyes and tried arms to lay my groundwork. This home will house naught but myself. My vision and myself. My experience and myself. What I do, I do in the name of my life with mirroring disregard toward the farces of "Good" and "Evil".

The twins are naught but quicksand. As the world around me tires itself in the folly of such pursuits, the twins receive and receive; and like such  unscrupulous companions, they are devoid of return. The twins are naught but quicksand: easy to lose yourself in exploring their depth.

The twins are naught but quicksand. As the world around me deludes itself into tossing energy, material, and precious time toward what they imagine to be an elastic giver, I escape as one of the few lucky enough to be freed from this net. I see the twins, incorrigible and as though quicksand, consuming and capturing these human donations of spirit. When you act on behalf of the twins, you merely act on behalf of the twins.

I consider my mind freed from the annexation of the external. 

To give of myself, or to keep to myself, are to me neither acts of "good" nor "evil". To give or to keep has been revealed to me to be naught but giving and keeping. Assistance and destruction have revealed to me their names, and they are not "good" nor "evil".

I have learned that all things lurk in every heart.  

Injury withstood and shackles broken, my spirit--possessing a wealth of both aspirations and setbacks--seeks not north, nor south, nor right or wrong. I seek not left, nor straight-forward. Assuredly not backward or sideways. My spirit, like horse touched by hot iron, seeks no particular direction, yet moves swiftly with every muscle--muscles developed for this very purpose--to see its survival. Like a horse licked by a flaming iron, my spirit pushes itself with speed in the only direction that matters: out. Out of this calamity. Out, though respite is merely transient. The rock which sits in wait to trip me is hurdled over. The trees which block both path and vision are maneuvered deftly between--slalomed where they stand. The river that threatens to end my sprint is surprised to see the slave has learned to swim.

At the beginning of this embarkment, the only provisions I have to sustain myself in my travels are the marks of my experience until now. A life unrecognizable stands barely visible in the distance. I know nothing. I run toward it.

So begins my second act.
