Not often one railtour passes another and especially not at this location.
GWR 4073 “Castle” Class 5043 Earl of Mount Edgecumbe passes Ludgershall Jn just outside Andover. Photo taken from the “Andover Fist” railtour about to head down the rarely used branch line to Ludgershall itself.

Back from a fantastic weekend with a jolly out with a pair of 37s!. 1. 37069 at Crewe after working “The Round Robin” from Crewe to MOD Long Marston and back. (1st April) 2. 37716 on the rear of the above train 3. The start of the day with 37069 sat next to 57309 4. 67010 on the rear of the 17:16 Cardiff-Holyhead at Crewe. (31st March)

Also spotted on Friday was IEP Class 800 800001 on a test run from London Paddington to Bristol Parkway and back, seen here on the return leg at Swindon. These will start replacing the 40+ year old HST sets on the western this Autumn.

One plane post, one train post. Catching the train home from work on Friday evening after a trip to the pub and retro Intercity Swallow liveried HST powercar 43185 pulls up into Swindon working a train into Paddington. One of two HST powercars operated by GWR currently sporting “reto liveries”, the other being 43002.

After quite an interesting week now seems like a good time to start this blog, Took my first trip to Myrtle Avenue just outside London Heathrow. Only spent about an hour there but this was the highlight for me. British Airways Boeing 747-400 G-CIVN 25th March 2017
