by the gods, do not force me to become a woman of evil
Some of you might remember the sketch I posted for this piece but it is done hiii. Kind of went in an unexpected direction since one of my professors recommended turning it into a mock poster, but I like how it turned out !

Calling yourself a revivalist does not mean you are exempt from doing historical research!!!
If you want to worship the gods of ancient Greece you need to research about ancient Greece 😱. If you want to worship the pop culture deities of Percy Jackson or Epic The Musical or whatever else then do that but don’t call yourself a HelPol please!
(This post isn’t to discourage anyone and again there are very easy ways of doing research especially now with so many resources free to access on the internet)

No, I do not respect offerings relating to human bod*ly flu*ds. There were only extremely rare and specific cases they were done in ancient Greece and those were hyper specific to the culture of that area and again were very rare. If you give these kinds of offerings please just block me or I’ll do it myself!

This could certainly be my bias as a reconstructionist Hellenic polytheist showing,—and tell me if it is—but I don't think reconstructionists are uniquely more mean or strict than other polytheists. At least, that is my experience as a "reconstructionist Helpol influencer" of several years.
This isn't to say that some of us don't have an issue with acting holier than thou, but you shouldn't be giving space to those people, anyway. You should be preserving your peace and blocking them. I certainly don't keep the company of anyone silly enough to believe that ancient Greek religion can be practiced today with 100% accuracy, yet people talk about recons as if that is our perogative.
More often than not, recons simply post about reconstructionism and people to whom the information doesn't apply get mad about it.
I will say that just because ancient Greek religion can't be reconstructed with 100% accuracy doesn't mean that Hellenic polytheism can't be practiced wrong. It is entirely possible to misappropriate and misrepresent Hellenic polytheism—take Hekate as the Maiden/Mother/Crone, for example.
Reconstructionists are not uniquely mean for saying that, though.

Do you have a favorite Greek mythology movie? (mine is the 1997 “Odyssey” miniseries)
Yes! My favourite is Iphigenia (1977)!
Michael Cacoyannis masterfully brought to screen the tragic story of Iphigenia and i would consider it the best adaptation of an ancient play to date. The acting and dialogue is superb and the director gave room to show the complexity of the characters! Both Agamemnon and Clytemnestra are complex characters and you watch slowly Iphigenia realising her tragic sacrifice for a war a mob of Greek soldiers are craving, you can't help but feel sorry for her.

The production for this Greek movie is still unmatched for in quality of a good movie and costumes. Plus it has Greek actors so of course it's top of the list for me^^
(You can watch the movie on YouTube in English subtitles!)

Altar = Clean space where you put offerings
That’s about it 🤘🏻
You can add more stuff to it but the most important thing is honestly just keeping it relatively clean.
