We cannot lie to you, best beloved. Though you may avoid us, there is no escape.
We’re in the walls and behind your eyes. We carved every inch of these tunnels and we’ve seen all that goes on inside them.
Centuries of cities and strangers and frightful, ugly sights. We’d spare you from it if we could, but then maybe you are the adventuring kind after all.
Just remember, no matter where you go, you belong to us. Whether you wait or whether you run, we will find you.
You’re in the Maggots’ Keep now. And that’s forever.
We just launched a new book! THE EXQUISITE CORPSE IN MAGGOTS' KEEP Is a branching narrative gamebook, where your choices guide you deeper into the ichor-slick darkness of MAGGOTS KEEP. Written by over a dozen authors, and illustrated by the modern Goddess of Gloom, @jnbutlerart

Dmitri - 19 - They/Them
Artificer Wizard - School of Necromancy
Life energy Dhampir (Formerly human) - Sage
Speaks Common, Elvish, Abyssal, and Undercommon
Int: 15 - Con: 14 - Dex: 13 - Wis: 13 - Cha: 13 - Str: 11
Proficiencies: Arcana, Medicine, History
Personality Traits: I am horribly awkward in social situations and am convinced that people are always trying to steal my secrets.
Ideals: No Limits- Nothing should fetter the infinite possibility inherent in all existence.
Bonds: My life’s work is a series of tomes related to a specific field of lore.
Flaws: I am easily distracted by the promise of information and most people scream & run when they see a demon. I stay & take notes on its anatomy.
Background: Always an inquisitive kid, Dmitri sought to follow in the footsteps of their famous artificer father. In their late teens, Dmitri stumbled upon an ancient, abyssal tome that spoke of living flesh rendered into machine. They researched this tome furiously, spending hours studying and becoming a recluse. To try and further understand the tome, Dmitri attended the School of Necromancy, becoming not only an artificer but also a wizard. Their research continued, eventually producing small yet powerful results. One day an experiment went wrong, leaving them afflicted, requiring Dmitri to consume life energy as fuel and turning them into a Dhampir. Dmitri continues to study the tomes and attempt to perfect the art of turning flesh into machine.
