Aha, now it’s my turn to bother ye with questions! You mentioned HMS Pinafore, so I’ll stick with that.
1) What’s your favourite song in Pinafore?
2) Who’s your favourite character in Pinafore?
3) If you happened to be in a production of Pinafore, which part would you most like to play? In this case, assuming that you could sing/act any part perfectly.
P.S. May I ask your opinions on Princess Ida?
Hurrah! How lovely to be asked questions! Now to answer them…
1) You’ve kicked off with a damn difficult one here. Yet in many ways an exceedingly easy one. So many honourable mentions yet one clear, clear winner. I adore ‘Never Mind the Why and Wherefore’ also ‘He is an Englishman’ and ‘I am the Captain of the Pinafore’ bites at the ankles of the winner, which is… ‘When I was a lad’! What a beaut.
2) Again, what internal struggles rage in my heart! I shall have to say Sir Joseph Porter I’M SORRY EVERYONE ELSE! (EXEPT FOR YOU DICK DEADEYE. HATE YOU WITH ALL MY SOUL) just for being such a little silly.
3) Josephine. Josephine all the day and way. Never mind the why and wherefore indeed!
P.S.: Princess Ida is lovely though not quite my favourite. I haven’t seen it in simply eons though so would love a recommendation of somewhere to refresh myself!
Thank you so much for asking! What a fun game.

Hello there! Just by chance found your blog, and we do seem to have some fandoms in common :D I simply wanted to say hello and tell you that I enjoy your humorous posts haha! Kind wishes, wintersknight.
Hello! What a lovely thing to say. I certainly like to consider myself rather a ✨raconteur✨(rolls r in attempt to be humorous and fails miserably, inspiring pity and embarrassment). Your blog is really great too and I look foreword to seeing more.
Goodbye and have a lovely day!

Hello! I thought I would bother you with a question. You’ve expressed an interest in The Gondoliers so I thought I would ask:
1. Is it your favourite Gilbert and Sulivan?
2. What’s your favourite song from there and, bonus: from all of G+S’ works?
3. Who’s your favourite character from The Gondoliers (similar bonus applies).
Thank you, and sorry to interrupt.
P.S.: I am pleased to have yet concealed my own pet obsession i.e.: Pinafore and wanted to ask your opinion on that.
P.P.S.: have a lovely day!
Thank you ever so for the ask!
1) It’s (currently) my second favourite, with my favourite being Princess Ida, but it has my favourite aesthetic, if that makes sense. A lot of set designs/costume designs I see of it remind me of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for some reason, which is my childhood film, and therefore the aesthetics of the Gondoliers feels somewhat nostalgic to me. Also I just really like Italy.
2) My favourite song from The Gondoliers is In a Contemplative Fashion, simply because Tessa and Gianetta, who have hitherto been typical Gilbert and Sullivan love interest ladies (which there’s nothing at all wrong with), are revealed to be absolutely unhinged when it comes to their husbands, which is both very sweet and very funny. I also really like Dance a Cachucha, List and Learn, and Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes. My favourite overall Gilbert and Sullivan song is Here’s a How-de-do from The Mikado. I have no explanation as to why, I just like it.
3) My favourite Gondoliers character is definitely Gianetta. Who thought such a sweet, soft-sounding soprano would threaten such brutal murder? My favourite Gilbert and Sullivan character is Mr Wells. I love the concept of a sorcerer who owns a sorcery shop, and he didn’t deserve what happened to him. He’s closely followed my Cyril from Princess Ida, who’s closely followed by every character except for Alexis and Fairfax.
As for my opinions on HMS Pinafore, I love it! Josephine is an absolutely charming leading lady, and Sir Joseph’s sisters, cousins, and aunts make up a very fun chorus. And Kind Captain, I’ve Important Information is remarkably sinister.
Every opinion expressed in this post is subject to change in a week.

if there's one thing about classic literary detectives it's that they are not conventionally attractive. doyle told sidney paget to stop drawing holmes so pretty. christie was like "let me introduce you to this short pudgy balding man who is retirement age and i hate him." sayers compares wimsey to maggots on literally the FIRST PAGE
i love it. i love them. stop casting hot people in these roles. we need our detectives to be Charmingly Weird-Looking
