Designing the exegesis

I have been working on designing the exegesis since the beginning of October. I intended for the structure to be very simple using times new Roman as the primary font as it represents clear readability. I have used a grid to make sure that everything remains in the same structure throughout all pages I have included framework for the imagery presented in the exegesis as well as I wanted it to flow beautifully.

Week 12

I have been going through the document that was marked by my tutor. It has been such a big help reading the feedback and making the necessary changes. It gives me such a better understanding of what I should be talking about rather than just mumbling on about things related to a broader spectrum of information.

I aimed to narrow everything down so that it was precise information in direct relation to the research question.

More development during week ten of design research

During the beginning of week 11 I wanted to make heaps of time to focus on the development of my methodology chapter. I felt a disconnection to this chapter as I was still coming to terms with which methods were best presented in the exegesis. I explore a range of methods that I did not include in the methodology chapter because some were more significant than the other and I only wanted to feature the most relevant methods and approaches that I used for the assignment.

Week 11

Today I have been focusing on the writing of my exegesis. The parts that I have been working on are methodologies and the first two sections. I have been working through the feedback document since the start of the second half of the semester.

I have not been as consistent with the writing as I have been focusing a lot on studio. I will pay more attention to the work this week. The past few weeks have consisted of finding some more contextual knowledge that pin point my question better.

Week 10.1 Class

We began this session by going over an assigned critical commentary chapter in groups on the tables we were sat on. This activity was super insightful as we had to sit down and read the entire section. As I read through the example I noticed a strong sense of structure and firm connections back to key methodologies and contexts which circulated back to the main thematic for the persons project.

Week 10 Lecture

In this lecture we had 4 guest speakers come in and run through their masters work and WIP. It was so insightful and wonderful to hear them speak about their work in a conceptual sense. Understanding their work and their methods help further my understanding of how its best structured and what is best to cover in these individual sections of an exegesis.

Surfing the web for peer reviewed articles

I have been exploring Google scholar for the past 3 to 4 weeks looking for peer reviewed articles that relate to the context in which my assignment sits in. The feedback that I got in regards to references was that I need to discover more peer reviewed articles and include that in my exegesis as it's more academic rather than just articles online through news websites or personal websites.

Conducting this research helped me understand that there is so much more rich information on the Internet via Google scholar and the AUT database library. I have read through so many journals and articles to ensure that I get the best information to include in my final exegesis.

I really liked the method I truly understood the information that was being presented in these articles and I could find the best suited paragraphs to include in my contextual review

Week 3 - Mapping and exploring

Class exercise with peer Juliana

We discussed a lot of our research in this session. I also asked Juliana a lot of questions to understand her project and where she's going with it. It was an interesting conversation which opened up a lot of different thoughts. We both explored each others case studies and it was so helpful as she gave me a lot of feedback in regards to them. Exploring someone else's cases studies and reading about them is interesting as you can identify what they like about them an the connection it has to their vision or design intentions.
