The Workman’s Club
Our next post is about The Workman’s Club. This bar is one of Dublin’s best live music venues, although it has much more than that. The Workman’s Club is located on Wellington Quay, Temple Bar, and is just across the road from the River Liffey. It opens at 3pm and closes at 3am.
What makes The Workman’s Club so good is the live music performances which happen almost every day of the week. These gigs are of various different genres and are relatively cheap to go to, which is particularly good for students. While entry to these gigs comes with a cost, there is an entire floor above which is completely free to enter. The upstairs has its own bar, smoking area full of seats, and a Wowburger!
This bar is a completely different vibe to many of the other entries on this blog, but you are still going to find students and young adults who are drinking and dancing. Overall, The Workman’s Club is definitely one of the best bars in Dublin City Centre, especially if you’re a fan of live music!

Pygmalion
Our next feature is Pygmalion. Pygmalion is situated on South William Street, right beside St. Stephens Green and Grafton Street. It is only about a 5 minute walk from the three nightclubs on Harcourt Street which we previously wrote about. ‘Pyg’ as it’s known is open every day of the week from 11am to 2:30am. While the Pyg runs as a restaurant throughout the day, it only gets more lively the later it gets, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
As previously mentioned, it also runs as a restaurant with a wide range of food and drinks to choose from during the day. There are several offers which Pygmalion provide such as 2 for 1 drinks at the bar or 2 for 1 pizzas.
The DJ’s begin to play later on in the night, with various different genres of music. There are often special guests that come in to play music for the customers in the evenings. There are many different options to choose from when it comes to drinks, particularly with cocktails. Overall, Pygmalion is somewhere that you are sure to enjoy.

The Living Room
The next bar / nightclub that we will feature in this blog is The Living Room. It is situated on Cathal Brugha Street, which is just off O’Connell Street. The Living Room is undoubtedly one of the best sports bars / nightclubs in Dublin City Centre. Even though it is open from early hours, it is best known as a late night club. One of the best things about The Living Room is that entry is completely free!
As for the facilities, it is a fairly big venue with dozens of large televisions which show a range of sports all day. In the back there is a beer garden with another bar and a gigantic outdoor screen. It is a very underrated bar with a great atmosphere, even if sport is not your thing. There is also a pizza shack in the beer garden which is a great option if you get hungry during your time there.
The Living Room should absolutely go on your bar / nightclub bucket list of Dublin City Centre. It is a venue which any sports fan will enjoy. With its lively atmosphere and free entry, its somewhere that you need to try out.

Dtwo
This post will be about Dtwo. Dtwo is situated in Harcourt Street, just up the road from two of our previously mentioned Dicey’s Garden and Copper Face Jacks. Dtwo opens Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10pm.
It usually costs about €10 for entry to Dtwo, and drink prices are somewhat cheap especially considering the location too. It is a very popular nightclub among students and especially sport lovers as there are 20 screens and a 20-foot screen that have coverage of sporting events.
Another thing which makes Dtwo popular among students are the 3 DJs that play throughout the night. The music played varies old classics to stuff that is in the current charts. Similar to Dicey’s Garden, Dtwo also attracts people of different cultures, making it the perfect place to meet new people.
It has the perfect location for a bar / nightclub, and is easily accesible from outside Dublin City Centre with a LUAS stop right outside. Along with the other nightclubs on the same street, you are sure to find one of them which you will love.

Tramline
This post will feature the bar / nightclub Tramline. This spot is one of the most popular nightclubs in Dublin City Centre, particularly for students. It is located on D’Olier Street which is right beside Trinity college. Tramline opened in 2017 and has seen far more success than the nightclubs which were there previously, Coyote and Tara Club 21.
The main reason why Tramline is so popular is that it plays different types of music. There are three rooms available to visitors, one has the latest chart hits, one for a live act, and one with a live music performance. Each room has its own bar which means that you shouldn’t be waiting too long to get a drink. Even though Tramline holds up to 1000 people, it usually is quite full.
As mentioned, it is visited mostly by students due to its cheap prices. On weekdays drinks can be as cheap as €2, which is great value compared to some other nightclubs such as Copper Face Jacks. Tramline has become a cheap and enjoyable venue and is a spot that attracts many more people throughout the college year.

Dicey’s Garden
Another bar / nightclub we will be writing about is Dicey’s Garden. It is situated on Harcourt Street, only metres down the road from the previously mentioned Copper Face Jacks. It is well known among young adults in Dublin that Dicey’s is the place to be on a Monday night. It opens at 4pm and closes at 2:30am all days of the week, although it is the events on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays that it is famous for.
It normally costs about €10 to enter this bar / nightclub, though prices can change depending on the day. As was said earlier, there’s no better place to be on a Monday night with all drinks being only €1.50! This does create huge queues to get drinks however. A large part of the venue is outdoors and it is one of Dublin City’s biggest nightclubs, with 4 bars! There is a live DJ, with music switching between 80’s and 90’s hits, 00’s songs and also quite a lot of modern music too. This makes it enjoyable for lots of different people.
One of the most unique traits about Dicey’s is that it is incredibly culturally diverse. It is possible to meet people from countries all across the world. Dicey’s is one of the most well visited spots among students where it is almost certain that you will have a great night. You can’t have a list of the best nightclubs in Dublin City Centre without mentioning Dicey’s Garden.

Copper Face Jacks
The third bar / nightclub the blog will feature is Copper Face Jacks. Copper Face Jacks is probably the most popular and famous nightclub in the country. Situated on Harcourt Street alongside many other bars / nightclubs, it is known for attracting students throughout the weekdays and over 21s on the weekend.
Copper Face Jacks first opened in 1996 below the Jackson Court Hotel and has grown massively throughout the years. It has three floors of music and dancing, an outdoor smoking area and several bars. With its location and facilities, it is easy to see why it is Ireland’s most highly rated nightclub.
If you are looking for Irish people from outside of Dublin, Copper Face Jacks is where you’re likely to find them. It is known for playing sing-a-long songs so it is perfect for college students to enjoy dancing and drinking with their friends. Without a doubt the best time to be at Copper Face Jacks is during the months of the football and hurling championships, when fans are out supporting their county. Even though ‘Coppers’ as it is nicknamed, is expensive, it has no trouble attracting large numbers of people any night of the week.
Overall, Coppers has everything that young party-goers are looking for. It is the ideal spot to go for some drinks and dance, as long as you are not planning on looking at your bank balance the next day!

The Academy
The Academy is the second bar / nightclub that we will feature. It is situated on Abbey Street and is one of the most popular nightclubs in Dublin City Centre. The Academy opens at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays every week and there are occasional events mid-week.
It is quite a large venue with three floors, each focusing on a different genre of music. The music played on the main floor is usually modern house music, the downstairs is for hip-hop and r&b, while the basement plays a number of genres but mainly rock. The entry charge is normally about €10 depending on the day. The popularity of this nightclub can be seen by the queue which is sometimes close to 50 metres down the road at opening time. If you plan on going here it is recommended to show up a few minutes early.
There’s lots of facilities at The Academy such as bars on each of the three floors, two smoking areas and several seating areas. This place has everything you’re looking for and is one of Dublin’s best traditional nightclubs . There are different events going on all the time which means that there is sure to be something you would be interested in. Its varying events will definitely make you want to return again and again.
