Maybe I'm rambling, but isn't it starking how so many men in the grunge scene both used too many drugs and were so damn depressed that they died in the most depressing ways? I mean, the rock men did before barely tackled any sort of deep emotional struggles, and then these guys come up with the most depressive subjects, and they are filling themselves with drugs in an attempt to survive their demons...but then they die before turning 40
At some point, I even thought like "they looked inside and didn't like it there and it was all the way down"

you mean to tell me. you think a 14 year old boy killing only prostitutes in gta has nothing to do with misogyny? you think you feeling drawn to kill the purposely obnoxious prostitutes has nothing to do with misogyny? at all?
I don't think it has nothing to do with misogyny, but at the same time, I don't know if that sort of action was specifically male? 'Cause that post was about men - being horrible - in specific, right? I just think the overlap in behavior in this context - between sexes - is somewhat intriguing. It probably had some misogyny from my part back then, but being chaotic was my drive.

Gonna be honest, I used to run over prostitutes on GTA when I was his age 👀 I mean, I don't remember why was that - that I just or mostly ran over those female bots, but GTA always felt to me like a game to be destructive, chaotic and edgy. I have never played it with the intention to follow some campaign but to use my last minutes on the lan house. Only a lot of years after I would hear people saying San Andreas was somewhat great...for some reason...idk. Also, weren't GTA prostitutes made to be obnoxious and unlikeable/unremarkable?
Most men are glaring sizes of awful, but the GTA thing is not exactly gendered, I mean, when it comes to the player? While It is gendered when it comes to the target.
Just food for thought 🤷🏻
I think I just really pissed off my mom. I was going off about how men are horrible and she asked me if I thought my nephews were horrible too. I said I’ve watched my older nephew play GTA and all he does is drive off the ramps and only stops to shoot the prostitutes, so yeah, he’s well on his way to being a horrible man. She tried to say that’s just his socialization and I told her that’s just a bullshit excuse. The conversation ended pretty quickly after that.

seeing riot grrrl playlists on Spotify and the captions say “fuck terfs, don’t listen if you’re transphobic”
what entitlement makes someone think they as a man have a place in women centered music, what are they doing their best to take everything over
Honestly, if the playlist creator didn't literally said or looked like a TIM, I would think that those playlists - with those kind of captions - would have come from female TRAs trying to virtue signaling that they are not the bad ones and, actually, they actively fight the bad "women/feminists" for the sake of superficially GNC males.
Either way, I think any creation lacks real strenght whenever it makes sure to repeat whatever most people say with no critical thinking whatsoever, it's really depressing.
Males do want to take over, they've always been enabled and motivated to do so, but a lot of their works lack quality, in my opinion. We are still here, we are still fighting, there are better content out there, it may sound doomed, but we can find each other and do better than them.

I shit on badly built (or not built at all) romance, tho...👀 That's the same reason why I hate romcoms because too many times than not, romcoms are about a guy who finds a girl attractive/a guy who likes to fight a woman and then we're supposed to believe they're in love and they're meant to be
Tumblr media
this is correlation and not causation but i’m blaming this current movement of people thinking they’re being soooo enlightened by saying they hate romance and Why Does Everything Have To Be About Love on the fact that our current biggest blockbusters are populated entirely by sexless figures who often don’t even look like they’re occupying the same physical space, much less have any chemistry with each other…….. now more than ever we need to bring back sensuality and eroticism into the mainstream i’m not kidding….

Kat Stratford (10 Things I Hate About You) is a terf in my mind, does anyone else agree? I realize it is probably low hanging fruit but I’m picking it anyway.
Soooo I (personally) have never felt like sitting to watch this movie, tbqh. I always thought Kat (the main character, right?), as a child (myself), to be super obnoxious and annoying, while also understanding that there were some stupid boys there trying to play her, and being annoyed about it, too. Looking back, I cannot say much because I've never really watched the movie, but I think her feminist streaks seemed to have been made in a way to somehow showcase a "no fun allowed feminist", who would annoy any normie any day because she needs to complain non-stop about stuff. The feminist stereotype, basically.
I've even read an article that criticized that about this movie, when the author had actually enjoyed the movie back in the day - when they/she was younger.
Either way, I can't really say much. Also, I'm biased because I have a fathomless hatred towards romcoms, because this is such a filled to the brink with sexism, misogyny, abuse genre, etc, etc...
GYNS, IT'S WITH YOU NOW! Give your opinions away. I really would love to know why you love or hate this movie and this character and anything about that.

is there a specific "line" for which media to discuss? i have a few media interests from my pre-rad days that i'm still attached to despite not being PC or all that feminist (not porn, but sort of trashy, male gaze, written by males), sort of on the lines of things like bayonetta, would those be okay to discuss from a critical perspective?
I don't think so. Everything that has any influence in our lives should be discussed. I will tag with triggers, if there are major triggers, of course, but my idea has always been for every (rad-leaning, gc) woman to be able to start a conversation about things that bother them or things that matter to them. You can send me your thoughts and I will publish it. I don't know much about this Bayonetta game, but I may as well try understanding the subject to give my opinion, which is just a part of the discussion, of course. The thing is to bring the community to discuss those topics so you can understand your feelings better and to bring attention to potential harmful tropes. And I would like to tell everybody to be respectful once again. One may feel deep and intensely about this or that, but remember that behind the monitors there are women, human beings who have feelings and don't need to be insulted.

did you enjoy arcane? seeing trans headcanons for vi is so annoying like no one in league universe is trans idc if you kin them or whatever. can we enjoy anything without these people dragging gender identity bullshit into it?
(anyway viktor deserved better imo)
To be perfectly honest? I still didn't watch any episode completely, but I know the characters from League of legends for, what, 6 years now? Maybe more? Vi was always a gift for the community, in my opinion, she has been like the only butch character in the whole game, and it isn't despite that she's great; she's playful, strong, chaotic in her gnc way, she has an amazing relationship with Cait since forever! I never heard of her being angsty about her body or anything like that. She was always carefree...I've got the impression Arcane is very angsty in comparison to the game environment - since they would probably need to show the process through which Viktor and Jinx became...half robotic and half insane, respectively, like in the game - but to the point Vi would "self identify as a man"?????? Now that's a very different story.
Either way, it is quite insulting to trans the only butch character of the game...I mean, whatever you may think of being trans or trans people, GNC women also deserve representation or at least to keep the few we have. Go torment Riot for trans characters if you want more representation. And Riot deserves every single complain for all the bigotry they allow in their company...
Also, ladies who already watched Arcane, please share your opinions with us!

Ok, so why do you bother to comment? Like I know you all agree it seems pointless and dumb, I understood - although you all keep acting like I don't know what you guys think.
You aren't bringing anything new here. Just take the way out and don't bother.
Edited: once again, I'm not saying this to escape criticism. I just don't have to answer to generic criticism.
If I need to be understood I would say again that I thought the two lines together just sounded to me typically male to be contradictory about showing vulnerability and refusing to admit they need help for what they're vulnerable about. It's not a entire length long analysis. It's a feel that came to me.
You can all ignore and not go berserk for something that isn't toxic at all.
Also, stop accusing people of being drugged or being stupid.
I close my case. Just stop.
Just thinking, but when Freddie sings "...I'm just a poor boy, (but) I need no sympathy...", don't you gyns/women think this is such a male pattern of speech? That is, at first showing (a supposedly) vulnerability (which can and is a lot of times used to manipulate women to pity boys/men), while right after "refusing" any kind of sympathy or help? A very masculine (from masculinity) thing to say so to look tough and manly, even though "he's just a poor boy."
I know the "boy" seems quite insecure since "nobody loved me(him)," but yeah although he may be insecure and had had a shitty life, he has enough in him to complain and point out he was mistreated, which he doesn't show to deserve - besides the moment he went to kill a man, of course.

If you are not gonna interact in good faith, just don't.
Be respectful and understand that people may make mistakes or sound like they're being judgy and none is exempted.
If you have criticism, please talk about what doesn't seem right to you, but try being respectful of others.

Can you all stop being fucking idiots for one second? It's a text critical analysis. I'm not judging Freddie's person by his lyrics. For fuck's sakes...

Just thinking, but when Freddie sings "...I'm just a poor boy, (but) I need no sympathy...", don't you gyns/women think this is such a male mindset? That is, (even if they) at first showing (a supposedly) vulnerability (which can and is a lot of times used to manipulate women to pity boys/men), while right after, "refusing" any kind of sympathy or help? A very (idealistic) masculine (from masculinity) thing to say so to look tough and manly, even though "he's just a poor boy."
I know the "boy" (character) seems quite insecure since "nobody loved me(him)" and he thought himself disposable, for being poor, yet he has enough in himself to tell his story (supposedly to his mom) in such a otherwise lengthy and melancholic way.
Ps. for the love of the Goddess, I'm not judging Freddie personally, mfs, also...Don't interact with these posts if you just know to be a bully.

That first pic is another edit/drawing to make Vi more feminine than she actually is.
Original Vi is this:
Tumblr media
Yes, they made her a fucking boot plate and some fluff showing off out of her corset armor...to make up for her be practically (saying this because I may be forgetting something but I don't think I'm) the only female melee champion who uses her own hands to fight, the only female human jungler and being a general badass in the riff. However, I think riot noticed that people didn't care so most of her skins are like
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I'm not saying she's the most gnc of all, but she is v gnc in this toxic femininity obsessed world and We are keeping her!
(and I say what I said again if necessary: gnc women deserve representation too and Netflix has already transed a lot of us...)

Yeah, every single female character* in LOL is somehow sexualized one way or another (like in skins, if they are like kalista and jinx who are normally very plain on the chest.) But...Vi is really the only character who keeps her GNC consistentely through different skins and stories and cinematics. The only other woman who is more GNC is Illaoi, but Illaoi has long hair, is talked as if she is other sex attracted, etc.
I think Vi and Illaoi are great, and I would love more women like that out there, in popular fiction, and trans people should make their own demands instead of taking things from women...
*maybe not the v children coded characters (I say coded because both Zoe and Neeko aren't humans and Zoe, for example, is supposed to be v v old but she acts and looks like a 13 yo max.)
