One of my favourite things about the whole scene at the Holiday Manor is how it tricks you into thinking that Noelle's life and her mother's treatment of her are better than they really are.

When you see stuff like the beautiful holiday decorations, the tacky electronic Santas, or Noelle's really nice bedroom, it almost lulls you into thinking that Carol can't be that bad of a parent because her daughter is "living the dream," so to speak. A dream that quickly turns into a nightmare once Carol's in the house.

It's like Carol's wealth and status are one GIANT MANIPULATION TACTIC that conceals just how much cruelty and hardship she inflicts upon her daughter, because it's sometimes easy to forget that material wealth and status don't often go hand in hand with emotional welfare, nor is it typically a good indicator of the health of a familial relationship.
