Confused Percy, lol. I had this thought he was like this in Lady in Red (my crack fic set in Delusion of Fate’s au). Especially in this scene:

“Is it just me,” Percy whispered—not low enough—“or does your dad act like an unhinged, jealous ex?”

Hermes paused. Luke froze.

No. No no no, fish brat, shut up—

Annabeth jabbed Percy hard in the ribs, eyes wide. Percy immediately paled, like he’d watched his life flash before his eyes in real time.

Hermes was still smiling, but Luke could hear the shift in his voice. Calm. Smooth. Dangerous.

“You, Poseidon’s boy,” he said, eyes on Percy now, “are quite lucky to have the father you do.”

The smile stayed.

“Be grateful for it.��

Now that i think about it, it makes sense that apollo should be serious since his domains reflect that. alsoo on an unrelated note…they'll name a city after us by maevel is my fav perpollo fic. In this fic percy is a girl and the story is inspired by hades/ persephone… its really good i think you should give it a try.. in this fic apollo is not really eldritch, more like a love sick god

I dont know if you know about Chione basically Hermes used magic to put her to sleep and then had his way with her. Later, Apollo visited her disguised as an old woman and also slept with her. Lmao I’m just thinking about that. Actually insane, this happened in the same night btw (wanna be that girl altho prob unhealthy)…. Alsooo u mentioned in the myth Apollo was more serious. Always thought that hermes and him had somewhat the same personality. Apollo is just more vain ig bc he wears sunglasses lmao. I think they are each others fav bros and that they do orgies with each other once in a while HAHAHHA

I do know! I actually used that myth as inspiration for one of wmawt’s chapters, and that’s why Hermes said he and Apollo once shared and what not. Chione was also like a pre-teen, iirc…

That thing about Apollo being like Hermes is more of a modern media thing. In myth, he’s actually pretty serious. Still vain, yeah, but he was seen as very wise—god of prophecy, healing, music, and even associated with Greek civic ideals. The guy was tied to structure, harmony, and order. And he’s usually composed too, even when he’s pissed. Like, take the myth where he serves as a herdsman for King Admetus as punishment—he doesn’t lose his dignity. He just accepts it, works for a mortal without complaint, and keeps his cool the whole time. And then he still uses his power to help Admetus avoid death. But! He could also be cruel. Like, when Niobe insulted his mom, he slaughtered all her sons without blinking. Or how he flayed Marsyas alive for daring to challenge him in music.

Lmaooooooo, I do think he and Hermes have a good relationship. But since I write my gods as eldritch nightmares, good might not mean what we think it does lol. And yeah, I can absolutely see them going to orgies together—they’ve shared lovers already, lol.

I love that ur writing Achilles and Oddseyus as morally gray and shitty people…

I'm so glad you like it! Honestly, after reading the Iliad, I came out thinking, none of these people are good. Like, not even close by modern standards. And I’m really trying to reflect that in the fic. Odysseus straight-up helps lead a night raid where he and Diomedes massacre an entire camp of sleeping men. Achilles is just doing war crime after war crime. That whole thing with Hector’s body—he ties it to his chariot and drags it in circles, over and over again, purely out of spite. If the gods hadn’t intervened to preserve the corpse, it would’ve been reduced to pulp. Just raw meat scraping against the ground. And he keeps doing it. Daily.

The morals in that world are just too different, and I thought it’d be really interesting to explore how our modern demigods—especially someone like Luke, who's definitely seen and done some stuff—would navigate that kind of world.

@tealvneu Genesis in Daylight has some godly gods! It’s Luke getting isekaied into an au of his own universe—no Mist, soulmates exist, and his soulmate is Apollo 😈 Also! Stranded is her Jason & Zeus fic where Jason gets time-traveled onto Odysseus’s ship, right as Zeus is coming down to punish them. It’s also set in an au where demigods are harder to be born.

There’s also Misaligned Stars by FictionalDragonMother, where nine demigods are yeeted into an Ancient Greece au where demigods don’t exist. The gods in that world are way more inhuman and possessive.

Power Means Cruelty, and Cruelty Means God by BlackStoryPieces is another one I really love—Percy, Will, and Nico get time-traveled to the Trojan War. It hasn’t been updated in a while, but it lives in my brain rent-free.

Antleredbunny’s works also feature unhinged gods, though they’re very much dead dove territory—so skip if that’s not your vibe, and please be respectful.

I haven’t been reading as much fic lately since life’s gotten busier, but these are the ones that came to mind. I’m sure there are more!

hello in wmawt will it just be about the war? Or is there aftermath of the war? Honestly

I plan to cover a bit of the aftermath, but the focus will mostly be on the war period. It won’t be nonstop politics though, lol. Luke’s going on a hellish road trip across Greece soon, so we’ll get to explore more of the era beyond just the war. That said, I don’t plan to stretch the fic all the way into the Odyssey.

In We Men Are Wretched Things will Percy/Annabeth be together the whole time while they try to survive the gods/goddesses who have their attention on them

That’s my original plan, but if it survives the writing process? That’s another story, lol. I’ll go with whatever ends up making the most sense for all of them!

Because, like, Athena is not going to like the whole Aphrodite-Ares thing (not that she’d like her daughter-creation with anyone, really). There’s definitely going to be mother-daughter drama there, since Athena sees Annabeth as her reflection and expects her to be a maiden just like her, etc.

And Poseidon’s definitely not going to be thrilled about Apollo chasing after his brand-new mortal son—especially when said demigod is on his side, and Apollo is literally the patron god of the enemy. So he might just tolerate Percy shacking up with the thought-spawn, because at least she’s on the right side. Very pride-fueled logic going on.

Luke... well, he doesn’t have that exact issue going on. But anyway! We’ll see what happens, lol.
