I wanted to play the new monster hunter but only had 16 gigs of RAM and an Nvidia 1060... Guess who needed to buy upgraded hardware to play the game well. Though I do feel like my PC is in a great place for future games now that I have an AMD 7800xt and 32 gigs of ram
The fact that "new game" is nowadays equal to "new hardware" is sickening. You want to play a new game, or perhaps a sequel to a game you liked? 160 Gb disk space and 32 Gb RAM please! Pleasure doing business! Sickening.

If you want a system that's likely just going to work and stay working it's Debian. I have been running Arch as my main OS for over a decade now and there are just times where the OS itself is a hobby project and that's genuinely not for everyone.
Keep in mind its a laptop with a NVIDIA quadro 1200m with a i7 7th gen it has a 256g NVMe

To be pedantic, Arch DOESN'T have sudo in the base package I've needed to install it with every fresh install
I just had to install sudo. Wtf @debian-official even arch has sudo in the base package

Just you wait til you get to something truly modern like go. As a Python dev of 10+ years picking up go was a revelation!
I am writing in python rather than the pre 89 C shitshow at work right now..
And... I am just enjoying mixing function and object oriented design. Procedural mixed with imperative.
Just... making complex machines by swimming through the wonderfull sea of code in a modern langauge

I use double quotes, I could be more judicious about single quoted strings being literal and double potentially having something interpreted about them but i just use double quotes everywhere to make switching to F strings after the fact easier
People who do python coding professionally: Do you use single- or double-quotes more often for your strings to avoid escaping the other kind?

I'm a huge fan of i3 but I'd like to never use my mouse if I can avoid it
So I'm not high right now (and I probably won't be for a while now that Christmas break is over) but I'm wondering if I should make a VM for testing shit like DEs and WMs. What do y'all think?
What distro should I go with?
What DE/WM should I try first?

Ever since I developed the scripting hammer, every problem looks like a nail. The prefix is a static location, just write a script to pop it out to where you want it to be. Music torrent sites only accept EAC rips so if you want the best rip quality it's probably best to hack it to be easier
did you know you can use an usb optical drive and a program like k3b to rip your favorite audio cds to a digital file format? you can then create your own personal digital library, and even burn your own mixtapes/playlists!

Anything's better than sex if you're never having it, and this is coming from an arch user
