nevermind,
some people are already living your dream!
Go get your ham radio license for whatever country you're in! Then join in your local packet-radio people!
really the “holy grail” I’m after is the ability to anonymously download files without an internet connection, by tuning to a radio station, recording a stream of audio, and converting that audio into the file. a completely one-way transfer of any type of data, utterly disconnected from the internet itself, with no way for anyone else to know you downloaded it. “download” is almost a misnomer, “recording” gets more to the meat of it.
I’m not very good at describing it, but I believe it’s possible, and I think if someone like me can figure out how to do it, then it may just usher in a golden age of safe, anonymous digital piracy.

is it like television, but instead of airing shows and movies, it's airing programs instead?
it has happened before, people used to deliver video games by radio audio occasionally, (Hobbyscoop BASICODE radio) but we've moved away from it.
i'm not too sure about how television works, but i think that technology could be useful if someone knows how to repurpose it, since movies and audio tend to be rather larger filesize wise, and television does just fine with receiving all that.

apparently people were burning J.K Rowling’s books?
lolwut? really? is this legit or is this some rage-bait from some news-sites?
anyway, oddly specific parallel
[image text description:
Image is titled: Mega-famous British people who had their work burnt for controversial statements. Image contains three hands on top of each other. One hand is labelled, John Lennon, “Beatles are more popular than Jesus”. Another hand is labelled, JK Rowling, writing books about witch-craft. Another hand is labelled, JK Rowling’s sentiment that trans-activism should exercise more caution to prevent harm.
End image description]
if people really are burning her books, i bet to normies, they come across as silly as those people burning beatles records

“sex work” is a shitty bandage for security in life
i don’t know why i subject myself to reddit, but the “SEX WORK IS WORK AND EMPOWERING uwu” is annoying me. And yes, the situations I’ve listed below are situations in which I’ve seen people advocate on how sex work is super empowering
disabled? “sex work is empowering uwu!”
I’d find it more empowering you didn’t have to fuck to get money, and instead the government gives you a livable amount of money anyway, because the country actually care about disabled people and their quality of life.
"sex work is empowering because it gives me money for education or P.h.D or something"
How about the institution giving more funding to students so they can focus more on studying, instead having to think about objectifying themselves and about how they can make their body an appealing product so someone would want to give them money? people are against having sex with professors for grades, but if you’re still have to do sexual acitivity for your education, what bloody difference does it make to you if you have sex with your professor or some other rando? no one should have to have sex for an education.
“people objectify me, so i might as well make money out of it! I’m getting power out of a bad situation uwu”
Well how about we’re not in a bad situation in the first place. A great life would be not getting objectified AND getting money/other ways to support yourself (if u don’t believe in money).
Instead of people advocating for better disability laws or social payments and things that’d empower everyone, now and future, I see more people advocating for sex work. The ratio of “SEX WORK IS EMPOWERING” to “GOVERNMENT PAYMENTS AND [OTHER LAWS] ARE EMPOWERING” is so disappointing. (blah blah, “u can advocate 4 both at the saaame time”, WELL I”M NOT SEEING IT, AM I?) They advocate for woman after woman, to mentally prepare themselves to have to meet all these unknown creep-clients being intimate with their body, and undergo psychological harm, when they wouldn’t choose to subject themselves to this in the first place if they had the proper social support (and I say women, because the amount of stories on reddit I’ve seen of men doing sex work for money they need is miniscule).
people say, “sex work is a choice and you shouldn’t impede on choices uwuwuwu”. Well if we all get fantastic governemnt payments, we’d get more choice of what people could do throughout the day. People can go say “i’m gonna make myself a pizza” and make it, without having to worry about if their pizza-making hours are cutting into their prostitution-money-earning-hours, because they’re getting money anyway.
(disclaimer because this dumb site always needs a disclaimer: Whatever you do to get by in life because current social systems in certain areas are crap is your own business, but please for the love of fluffy chipmunk tails, stop saying having to go into sex-work is “empowering”. If people have power, how many would really be having sex with a bunch of strangers of their own free will? Or is it the clients with the power, using their spare money to make people do sexual activity they otherwise wouldn’t do, because they need the money to survive?)
I’m young. Only recently exited my teen years. Luckily i’ve never brought myself into harm’s way, but i’m fuckign furious at both reddit and tumblr. “SEX WORK IS GREAT AND EMPOWERING AND LETS NEVER MENTION THE DANGERS EVER UWUWUWUWUUWUWU”
fucking pimp propaganda and groomers all over this shitty place and other parts of the internet. adults grooming teenagers and children, and then having teenagers groom other teenagers because they want to be “socially-just”. “Sex work” is great for those pimps because it’s so easy. Not everybody has skills to do maths or marketing and stuff, but everybody has a body that can be exploited, so of course they want to spread this message far and wide to children. Sex work is a thing that requires no training (if it did require training, we’d have no kidnapped-prostituted-child-rape-victims) , so of course these creeps want to plant the seeds of “well I can always do sex work” into minds early, far and wide all over the internet. I HATED HOW MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATES SO CASUALLY SAID THAT IF THEIR EDUCATION DOESn”T GO WELL, THEY CAN JUST GO BE A STRIPPER, AS IF THEY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE POTENTIAL HARM. IT’S ALL AROUND ME.
SEX WORK IS EMPOWERING, GO DO SEX WORK AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR SEXUALITY, OPEN AN ONLY FANS UWUWUWUWUWUWU
Worst background radio noise of my life. I’ve always been poor so I want all these opportunitists preying on poor children to fucking go away. And yes I say children. When I was young, my mum was at work all day, and so I’d be alone at home, on the internet. And children bored on the internet will absorb messages from adults. Luckily I was listening to stupid crap about how to hack CLub Penguin, but I also had to train myself out of the misogyny I’d see everywhere on the internet on meme sites I’d frequent as I was growing up. But now? With so many children having easy internet access and the popularity of social media sites, they’re gonna absorb these messages like a sponge at how many years old? I was thirteen when I first ccame across “Sex work is empowering!” from a tumblr talking about comic books. How young is the message “sex work is great and empowering” reaching now?
Like sheesh, I, as a young teenager, came to tumblr for fandom content of media i liked, and get “sex work is empowering!”. Works like a charm doesn’t it? Lure lonely kids on the internet with something fun and cute they might like, and fill their brains with shit.
I don’t want to fuck for money. I want this shitty world changed so I don’t have to fuck for money, and so nobody else has to fuck for money. If I ever run out of money, I don’t want anyone one the street looking at me, and thinking they can buy access to the body of a desperate young woman, and that I’d do what they want because I’m desperate and the country doesn’t give a damn about poor people. They can go fuck themselves. I’d rob ‘em. Robbery would give me all the money and none of the fucking.
Both robbing people and sex work are illegal in some places, and both are risky. Gee, I wonder why people advocate that sex work is empowering for poor women over robbery (HINT HINT: ONE IS APPEALING TO MEN)
(note: I am not necesarrily advocating robbing everybody. but some people deserve to be robbed.)
But better than robbing people or sex work is changing society in a way so we don’t have to do both of these risky acts to survive.

I was at the shopping mall with my mum. There were plenty of people here. She went inside the bread and cake shop to get bread. I was just waiting in the hall on one of those long chairs/benches they provide for people to sit on. Anyway, when I first sat down on the chair, there was a girl with two plaits there, wearing all black. She was sitting on the other side of the chair/bench, so I could only see her back.
I was eating pizza for lunch. So I took a bite of the pizza, and because I was bored, I decided to look around me again to watch the crowd. The girl on our bench had completely vanished between the time when I first saw her, and within the 5 or less seconds of me taking a bite of the pizza after that. I stood up to see if she was somewhere in the crowd around me.
Nope. Completely gone.
I never saw her face either.
Strange to find a ghost right in plain sight. Perhaps we pass by many ghosts that we never realise were ghosts because they look completely normal.
Radfems! Do you believe in ghosts? Have any unexplained or supernatural experiences? I wanna know!

it’s an imageboard for us, you can search for it (tumblr sometimes doesn’t show posts with links), should have a dot net at the end. i think it’s women owned? (the owner is rather anonymous except for a possible first name)
you don’t need to sign up to participate.
(note, it has no terms and conditions to read or privacy policy, if you’re the kind to read those. or at least i haven’t found them yet. participate at your own risk.)

reddit can’t handle BIG CHUNGUS
sure we know about the reddit banwave hitting gendercritical and female centered subs, but do you know what they also banned?
the bigchungus subreddit.
what was it? a meme sub dedicated to the above image of a really fat bugs bunny. not political.
why was it banned? no one knows, everyone else is confused too. the banpage for it says it was for “hate speech”, but it wasn’t like there was blatant thinly-veiled nazism on that subreddit based on what other people said about it, it was literally just BIG CHUNGUS memes. reddit isn’t transparent, they don’t even give a reason for why they banned what they banned. they’re just powertripping.
the funnier part is that someone else tried to recreate it as r/reallyfatrabbit, and that got banned too extremely quickly. (there’s been a successful recreation at r/BlGCHUNGUS, where the i in BIG is actually a lowecase L, and other subreddits spawning around it). In fact, there’s been such a number of new chungus subreddits, that they can’t all be banned.
reddit can’t handle feminism. they can’t even handle fat rabbits. the men running that place cower in the sight of BIG CHUNGUS and women’s rights that don’t cater to males.

We cannot rely on men to host us
so the gendercritical subreddit on reddit was banned (well, not everyone there was a radical feminist, but there were a whole bunch there), as well as other radical feminist related subreddits.(like radfemtheory, which was someone’s shortlived bookclub based on radical feminsism).
and of course reddit doesn’t ban subreddits relating to rape and abuse of women for porn. or the guys version of the gendercritical sub (gendercriticalguys) as of posting this, even though they target nearly every other radfem adjacent sub.
As long as men own the websites we post on, we are never truly free. Eventually, we shall/must learn enough to host our websites and other ways to keep in contact!

in the dark
the teacher once told us, if you’re stuck somewhere extremely dark and you’re trying to look at something, don’t point your eyes directly where you want to look at. apparently at the fovea, that’s where all the cones are, and they’re not very good at night vision. The teacher told us to instead, point our eyes slightly adjacent to where we want to look at, because that way, you point your rods at the thing you want to be looking at. And rods are good at night-vision.

(i shall claim to be the anon that sent this)
since i sent the ask, i did veerryy basic research and apparently wikipedia says
“ In feudal Japan, Buddhist temples known as Kakekomi Dera acted as locations where abused women could take shelter before filing for divorce.[7] A formal system took more time, however, so it was not until 1993 that the grassroots women's movement of Japan built the first shelter. “
another website (japanwonder) says about one of the temples:
“ Tokeiji (東慶寺) was founded in 1285 by Kakusan Shido-ni, a nun widowed by Hojo Tokimune, who was the 8th shikken (or Regent of the Shogunate) of the Kamakura Shogunate. The temple is also the only surviving Amagozan, five nunneries in Kamakura.
Known as Kakekomi-dera, for 600 years, Tokeiji has served as a sanctuary for women escaping from their marriages until they could obtain a divorce in the feudal era where women generally could not request for a divorce. This stopped in 1871 when haibutsu kishaku (expulsion of Buddhism from Japan) was at its peak during the Meiji Restoration, and Tokeiji subsequently turned into a monastery in 1902 “
Sometimes I wonder how much we’d miss out if it weren’t for translators and multilingual people translating knowledge, especially for really old stuff like this! and other women’s history lost throughout time if it wasn’t written down or passed through orally.
thinking more on it now, I guess a specific building to be a shelter might not be be common back then since many women didn’t own property, but I think remember seeing another post on tumblr a long time ago about how women lived in other people’s houses when escaping violence when shelters didn’t exist? i think it’s interesting to find the different ways women have tried to help themselves/each other throughout history. maybe i’ll find a book on that topic sometime in the future.
~~~
and more thoughts on erin pizzey, she says she was receiving bombs in the mail and had to have a bomb squad look at her mail. i don’t disbelieve her, but i’m surprised people have managed to accquire and personally send bombs in the mail back then. what is the 1970s/1980s?!?
do u know any older radfems familiar with the history of domestic violence shelters? i keep seeing MRA's using Erin Pizzey (who is cited as founding one of the first women's refuges in 1971) as an example on how feminists are completely rotten due to how they apparently treated her, and I can't find much info on her from other viewpoints. also 1971 seems so recent for the creation of women's first refuges, i'm sure women worldwide have been doing stuff before that...
Honestly, I know what you know. I also know that it’s bullshit to suggest feminists are rotten because they weren’t a fan of Erin’s political perspective or her view on feminism and male vs female violence. Erin is not a radical feminist at all so I’m sure radical feminists wanted to challenge her point of view, and obviously some were probably pretty nasty about it because anyone can be an asshole, but I doubt that means they considered her opening a women’s refuge a bad thing. But anyway I don’t really know much more than that or than what you already know and can find on google, but I’ll put this post out there so if any of y’all have more information, please share!
