I am by no means one of those people who are overly cautious about cultural sensitivity, and who does or does not have the right to write what, but boy howdy does pretty much every role-playing game seem to love presenting a weirdly-fetishized version of any non-European culture discussed. And/or basing fantasy cultures on aforementioned fetishized versions of non-European cultures.

Like, it is entirely possible to depict a people who live in harmony with nature without also being a thinly veiled noble savage trope.

she is literally SO aro coded

in the feywild arc (expanded upon in the short rest) she mentions how others have a specific "person" (eg beverlin, etc) but she doesn't. it is mentioned how she has ties to her community, the crick, but she doesn't have a romantic relationship with anyone

episode 57 "how do you guys decide to like someone that long" I'M SCREECHING

"it was always weird to think of her having a romantic interest, because she's very independent"

even when discussing the dynamic she has with hardwon, it is mentioned how they wouldn't really have a romantic relationship, but instead a "go out on the prowl together and then come home and share One Big Bed at the end of the night" and if that's not the ideal queerplatonic dynamic then what is!!

plus references throughout the campaign of like. wanting to tell a story that isn't a romance. which yes, originally happened because beverly was the one that had a romantic relationship, and wanting to tell another kind of story since that space was already occupied.

but it becomes something more than that. it ends up being integral to the character. moonshine has so much love and compassion to give—to her community, to her friends, even to strangers—but the vibe is never "this type of love is inherently less important than the romantic love shown between other characters"

she literally goes down on jaina bronzebeard for MULTIPLE HOURS. canonically. and is incredibly sex positive throughout the whole campaign!

Gameplay: Roleplay as one of four Lich siblings, Gantz, Shtel, Halb or Nisht. Spin a dreidel to determine the character that will commence the Lich community debate on phylacteries and the paladin threat. What fate will you decide for the Lich community?

Gameplay: Role play as Bertha, the booze boss, or one of her 3 teenage grandchildren: Harriet (a reckless flirt), Yetta (ambitious and moody), Or Marvin (awkward, impulsive, and secretly gay). Throughout the game, you will gradually create a family drinking song together as you take turns roleplaying a series of scenes. With emotions running high, what kind of mischief will you get up to while creating your familial bootlegging song?

This trilogy is an offering to Jews, but everyone’s invited to play regardless of cultural or religious background. Players from other marginalized communities are especially encouraged to join the fun. Come to play with a willingness to engage with Jewish culture’s ancient tradition of using humor to address serious topics.

The gaming style is improvisational and collaborative, with a unique blend of tabletop and live action systems. There are no winners or losers, in the tradition of freeform and drama games.They can all be played at home, in a classroom, in a theatre, or online, and require between one and three hours. They don’t need a  separate facilitator or game master; everyone can play a character. For ages teens and up.

Last character for this months adventure and I somehow managed to roll three agender characters! We’ve obviously got team triple A here.

I think that this character is mostly likely to keep the team together but least likely to actually help on getting anything done. I love him and his parrots

I almost didn’t think I would finish this characters profile tonight but I made it!! I’m exhausted though so I’ll have to come back and type out some additional thoughts later, but for now please enjoy!

First randomly rolled character for February! Nzuzi!

I’ve updated how I present these characters but if people are interested in character sheets I can post them later. Either way this is our first character for Feb and, honestly I love xem. I couldn’t have hoped for a better character to roll for the start of the Valentines month 🤣

We’ve got an Agender, Intersex, pansexual Frayromantic who wants nothing to do with anyone. Xe is not interested in platonic relationships or alterous relationships or anything else. They have 0 important relationships in xir life and that’s how xe likes it~

(I will say that this character does exist in a universe with Fae and they are a twin and I am very tempted to make xem a changing…but I haven’t decided yes or no on that yet)

anyways this was insp by me relistening to some naddpod eps today (notably frostwind & currently ep99) instead of doing hw and like. my GOD they care abt each other SO MUCH theyre perfect your honor

One day late but I had a pretty busy last two weeks and given that this project is meant to be fun I’m not pushing myself too hard with it! First month is now done and it’s going to be time to roll for February soon, but January did teach me some important things about this character creation exercise that I will be taking into next month. Mostly that i want to be able to put all these characters into a cohesive story and the way I approached January didn’t really work well for that. So things I will be doing to try to fix that 1) taking the last week to pull everything together and do small character and setting summery as shown here. 2) next time when I roll for characters I am going to roll a set of characters working on the assumption they are a party that will be working together/know each other rather then what I ended up with here which are three people who are at odds with one another.

Over all though I think this exercise was worth it and I got a lot out of it! I’ll be posting the next setting tomorrow!

I will say that this character surprised me a little today with their rolls, mostly in that their aromatic ID isn’t that important to them but also: they seem to be mostly “meh” about all of their relationships. They like dating and are romance favorable and even if as a romo-aro, but in practice they really don’t seem to be stepping up to the romantic plate 🤣

Roll for aro character of the week! We’ve only got two world left: the super hero world and what I’ve decided is a fire/lave world to go with the ice world. Not sure yet which world this character comes from but we’ve got a demiro bi character who apparently is not only partnering but has two partners if the dice roll is anything to go by! I’ll be excited to see exactly how those relationships turn out!

And this is this weeks character done! I’m pretty happy with her over all even if figuring out her roll in the universe that she is put into was a little more difficult. I don’t think she turned out too bad all things considered!
