Weekend Remix: Child Prodigy
Name: Kira’s Thunder
By: Victor Mike
Based On: L’s Theme and Kira’s Theme from Death Note and Thunder from The Prodigy
Original Composers: Yoshihisa Hirano, Hideki Taniuchi and Liam Howlett
Seems that L and Kira are bringing the Thunder in this week’s Weekend Remix. Unlikely mash-ups can sometimes produce some interesting yet noteworthy results.Take Victor’s remix, or rather, Death Note/The Prodigy mash-up, for example.
In a million years, I would never imagine that the likes of Death Note and big beat electronica could mesh together. In fact, initially that spells audio disaster upon first hearing of the idea. And yet, after listening to the track, their unholy union does nothing but make sense to me.
Separate, these two particular songs are completely enjoyable. L’s and Kira’s Themes are perhaps delightfully layered in nothing but suspense, but also uniquely driven. Thunder is also driven in a sense, yet finds itself riding along a different lane, instead of bringing up memories of anime cat and mouse, it’s a fun song meant to pulse through the clubs.
And yet Victor has somehow connected them all for a dramatic, yet cool musical bridge. They truly mesh better than peanut butter and Nutella

Until next weekend, try to avoid writing names in those notebooks and…GO Party!
