Well If you heard about what happened to me last weekend, you know I needed something to help me recover this weekend. Doctors aren't perfect, chemistry is not forgiving, and sometimes people will just never try to understand. Growing pains and character building are all good things, and inevitable pieces of life. I haven't done one of these in a little while. But here it is. Throw back thursday! Literally. State playoffs that also happened to be my birthday, 11/11/2006. That was a team I will never forget. A lot of great memories! Great people, great fans, great coaches. A lot of emotions when I dig into the history of this picture. For the boys of fall you just don't forget the lights, the smell of the fresh cut grass. The playing of the national anthem as your heart speeds up, you stand tall and ready. You don't forget the sweet in your eyes, the blood on your hands and arms, the sound of the pads popping. You don't forget the announcer call your name when you put six more on the board. Kenny Chesny sings it great (boys of fall) You don't forget the big plays, or missed plays. The jersey you wear all day Friday. Or making sure your gf or mom have the away game jersey. I'll never forget the pass to Brett, the guy next to me in this picture. He made a hell of a play on the ball and went for six to turn the momentum of that game and help beat Monte Vista, my old high school, during Salidas homecoming for the regional championship game. I have a story like this about almost every guy on our team that year. I won't forget! May 2007 I had major shoulder surgery, colleges seem to lose interest and pull offers pretty quick, no matter how good you are when that happens. This weekend there was photo evidence of me doing something not work related and outside the office, having a good time. I am pretty sure the biker dudes were actively recruiting me, although it may have been the alcohol talking. Either way it was a good night, good music good beer and it's never a bad drive over to Hope AK. And yes I stayed sober at the two beer limit. However, I did miss the fights, I am definitely a little bummed about that! With everything being closed and different areas of Alaska expressing different levels of concern it was decided that for my 2020 4th of July weekend a cruise in the convertible corvette would be a fun yet socially safe option.
