First attempt at drawing Pelswick!
Also somewhat new style I'm doing with coloring...I was inspired by the old Maxine greeting cards before they switched to digital coloring where the colored pencil look was very noticeable.
Anyway this is a wonderful and overlooked show. Tubi has it for free, too.

People have the right to be upset about the Switch 2 hardware and software pricing (I myself have some reservations about it, too, but from an economics standpoint I can understand why the prices are high to begin with) - HOWEVER, that does not give you the right to attack, insult, or degrade others for wanting to buy the Switch 2. I understand the frustration, but I draw the line at ad hominem attacks, thinking you can tell others what they can or can’t do, and feeling like you’re morally superior for not wanting to buy New Product™.

Why hate speech should NOT be protected by the First Amendment
Speech that seeks to promote or incite hatred or violence against others - with distinction as to race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or age - runs afoul of the very principles that our country was founded upon, as outlined in the Declaration of Independence: that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights: those rights being life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those who seek to promote or incite hatred or violence against marginalized groups seek to deprive them of those very same unalienable rights, and view anyone who isn't in the majority group - in the case of the United States, anyone who isn't white, male, Christian, straight, cisgender, American, or any combination thereof - as inherently inferior to them; history has proven this, through such events as the Holocaust. What history proves specifically is that hate speech, as it is called, can lead - and has lead - to real-world harm against the individuals and groups that are the target of such speech. Therefore, I hold the position that hate speech should not be protected by the First Amendment; as far as I'm concerned, no one should have the right to promote or incite hatred or violence against others.

With Elon Pus making yet another disastrous and unpopular decision - this time concerning how blocks work - I think I need to stop using Shitter for good good, and become more active on Tumblr and Bluesky.

I agree wholeheartedly. Kids need good "school-life balance" just like adults need good work-life balance. Homework doesn't allow for that. Time spent doing homework can be better spent on leisure, bonding with parents, hanging out with friends, or doing extracurricular activities.

Randomly thinking about how movie Beetlejuice and cartoon Beetlejuice are basically two completely different characters.

In the movie, you have who's essentially a total slimeball...

...and in the cartoon, you have a fun-loving mischief maker.

top five most important things you can give a character. 1. bisexuality. 2. autism. 3. so much negative rizz it loops around into irresistibility. 4. so many bad events. 5. a coping mechanism that’s cute and silly provided you don’t think about it too hard

IDK if this falls under what OP is describing, but I’ve been getting back into South Park. I would consider it problematic in the sense of how outrageous and shocking it is, plus some “yikes”-y portrayals of Asians and trans people… but I would be lying if I said I didn’t find quite a lot of it funny and/or memorable.
Also: Nurse Gollum’s speech at the end of “Conjoined Fetus Lady” sums up how I feel about autism “awareness” as an autistic person - that I want to be treated like anyone else, rather than get any kind of special treatment or have unwanted attention drawn to my disability.

LRB: Kyle Carrozza was arrested on June 20 for possession of CSEM. I had looked up his inmate info, and he has a court date scheduled for the 25th.
Christ on a cross… I used to watch Mighty Magiswords when it was on the air (though I didn’t watch it religiously the same way I watched OK K.O.), and honestly, I don’t think I ever wanna watch it again after this. I feel like I can’t remove Kyle from it the same way I can remove John K from Ren & Stimpy.
My heart goes out to Kyle’s victims, and I hope they’re doing alright. Kyle can burn in Hell for all I care.
#kyle carrozza#tw csem#csem#csem mention#mighty magiswords#really sucks that another artist turned out to be such an irredeemable piece of shit

Yesterday I learned horrific news about someone I looked up to and trusted for years, who was even a friend and mentor to me. In light of these recent events, I have completely cut ties with Kyle Carrozza.
Fool me once, etc etc. Good riddance to another one.

Nathan Rabin did a write-up on Cop Rock for his My World of Flops column on AV Club, if you want to read more about it.
My friend and I are streaming Cop Rock to torture ourselves, and here's what we've got so far:
This is one of those shows where you're supposed to think the cops are "the good guys"
The first two minutes can just be called "Pepper Ann gets arrested".
Despite immediately going into an awkward rap song right after, the rest of the show is a DEAD serious cop drama. Like it feels like some generic procedural that you always see in some waiting room.
And by dead serious I DO mean dead serious- police brutality runs rampant. It's legitimately unpleasant for the most part.
Randy Newman sings the theme song and he's even in the opening singing it. It's the most generic yacht rock song you will ever hear.
There aren't any more songs for TWENTY MINUTES. And then finally the next song is THE most generic love song sung by a middle-aged man sitting in a chair as the camera in another room slowly zooms in. It's SO bad that I've been laughing so hard at it for the last ten minutes and it's probably not even that funny but just look at it:
youtube
Anyway I was expecting this show to be a LOT more campy that it was. The songs aside, it's just boring. And infuriating. If you have any sort of curiosity just watch the clips of the songs. The show is NOT worth it.
Pepper Ann can fucking sing.
