very funny to me when people act like animal farm and 1984 are revolutionary anti government texts that the Powers That Be dont want you to read when they have literally been a part of every standard middle/highschool english lit cirriculum in the usa and beyond for decades. precisely because theyre such convenient primers to propagandize that Commies = Bad. the government is quite literally making kids read them

so my apartment building got a notice board to post fire alarm tests and maintenance announcements and such. the building is pretty well-maintained, so we rarely get notices. the board is big and grey and to think it would be empty like that 99% of the time was a bland boring sin i just couldn't bear, so i vandalized the corner of its empty canvas with a teeny tiny Guy

and within a few days, there was a sudden addition from my one of my neighbors along with a Bunch of thumbtacks. this was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

well there was still so much space, i figured i'd add another crumb to the art hoard. i'd been playing genshin that day so i drew my favorite grandpa

and like clockwork, new art manifested!! this person is gonna grow to be a great artist i know it. the detail in those stones? hell yeah that's cool.

we're two weeks into it. more neighbors have joined in with their artwork. who knew there were so many artists in my building?? we're onto somethin great here i just know it.

yknow i'm honestly surprised that the premise of honey i shrunk the kids (and similar 'shrinking' films) hasn't really been used as a base for a straight up horror flick. honey i shrunk the kids in many ways is kind of a kid-friendly horror with comedy thrown in and the incredible shrinking man definitely has some horror elements but it would be interesting to see it pushed further with horror in mind. like an R rated properly gruesome horror.

i think one of the scariest things to me is the potential of dying not out of malice, not some slasher killer coming after me, but out of an accident due to being unseen or unnoticed. the kinds of deaths where someone is killed because no one knew they were in x or y dangerous place before turning on the dangerous thing that can kill you if you're too close. and I think the idea of being shrunk in a world that's too large for you where everything is dangerous, where you're small enough to be completely unnoticed, where you can be in danger not just from large bugs or animals attacking you but also from being underfoot from someone who is unaware plays into the inherent horror of being unnoticed really well. 'no one knows i'm here and the danger is because no one knows i'm here'

idk i'd love to see that idea utilized in a more horror centric way
