An article on different pedigree types and their uses
I've had this dream of building a website that helps to track more than just ancestors and titles but health(real health not the fake shit people say) littermate info, working style and traits etc.
If only I knew how to code

So in my search to find out more information, I stumbled on Seiger shows which are essentially shows designed to determine breed suitability. 90% of the show is a confo show but there is (in some cases) a small bit of the beginning of the show in which the dogs are given a short bitework test to test their courage (and presumably to see grip and other bitework related attributes. Even though the breeds that do the seiger are not my breeds. I still like to see the tests (both pass and fail) to help calibrate my perception of range.

As Kale recently turned 4 (and is about to trial to attempt to close out his PSA1) I've started looking more into breeding. Not necessarily Kale, though he is a good good boy but potentially future dog and starting up a program. I would in the end be aiming to produce more Kales though lol.
A Stable dog. Dominant but confident in it. A takes no shit kind of dog. Neutral to people and dogs he does not know. Social with people and animals introduced into his social group. Nerve strength on the mid-upper end of the spectrum at maturity, good recovery for those things not covered. Good bidability and med-high drive (I've seen off the charts drive and it's nice to have but unnecessary) good possession.
Ideally I want to produce stable workers for second time handlers (like me!) people who want an upgrade from their first pet and want to really get into sports. I would namely be producing for high octane sports like PSA/IGP/Agility/Disc. I likely would not sell to a home that does primarily flyball. A dog that with patience can be trusted loose in the house. To be an other half, companion and working partner.
Easier said than done though馃槄

It's the boys' birthday weekend and despite not having very much extra spending cash, i've also been depressed and so I decided that no matter what the boys would be getting a steak and potatoes dinner.
With Walmart's 8 dollarest steak cooked medium rare (went for rare but overshot it trying for a crust) and potatoes mashed the boys got their dinners. Both ate the steaks as fast as they possibly could. With steaks eaten, Kale went to check whether bub finished hers (she had) and promptly got told off. He went back to his plate and licked off the hemoglobin before happily eating his potatoes. In the meantime bub had started on the 'globin moving the pile of potatoes around the plate in the process to get every last drop. She then reluctantly took a lick of the mash and ate it with disdane.
Kale came to check on her food and was rejected, he tried again and was rejected again. On the third try and after giving the mash another reluctant lick bub realized the potatoes weren't even worth defending and gave them up.
2 happy boys
Kale is 4 and Bubby is 9

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.
don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.
if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.
you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:
how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!
aren't you happy yet?

There was like a year in between these two "stud ads" (neither of them are studs lmao) but it's crazy what a little over a year, high quality pics and some practice will do.

Reading a locked tomb novel for the first time is like chatching an episode of a foreign soap opera in the middle of a season.
Things make no sense
And you're not quite sure what's going on
But you know if you pay close enough attention things maybe, possibly, might start fitting into place
