You ever hear a lot of good things about someone, but then when you meet them you’re like, “I dunno, this guy’s kind of a jerk?” I wrote a camera review about that over at partialsight.

Krupp (not to be confused with appliance maker Krups) made artillery for the Nazis, among other things. Though if we want to be strict about it, Leica made cameras for the Nazis, too. None of those cameras blew anyone up, but still -- it’s worth noting, in acknowledgment that nothing is simple or clean. Even Krups, which made scales before realizing what people would pay for a fancy coffeemaker in a post-war world, probably helped the Nazis weigh things. My father-in-law noticed that under the right illumination the Krupp logo looks like a skull.
