I'm part of this runner club called DSE Runners that holds weekly races in different parts of San Francisco. Tonight was a 4.5mi race around Lake Merced. Lately, I've been focussing on my form to run more efficiently and reduce risk of injury by shortening my stride, increasing cadence, and landing on my mid-forefoot directly beneath my center of gravity. I finished in 32:45:43 with a split of 7:16/mi, pain free.

Late pass, but I just discovered the Saucony Kinvara 5 and I'm hooked! The K5 is a neutral, responsive, lightweight trainer with just the right amount of cushion for the long haul. Upper has pro-lock system for a sock like fit, and breathable mesh that’s light and airy. 4mm drop for a natural, close to the ground feel. And the ride? Smooth as buttah... Still need to log in some longer runs in these, but looking like the Kinvara 5 will be my race day shoe for Chicago Marathon.

Running the Chicago Marathon has become an annual tradition for me... It's one of my favorite races because of the spectacular course, I mean, what's not to like about taking in one of the most beautiful cities in the world by foot? (Not to mention, it's a flat course.) You can really feel the energy from the crowd in every neighborhood: from The Loop and Boystown, to Chinatown and The Southside. In addition to being a fun run, I also look forward to the marathon's creative campaign. Last year, Chicago-based artist Cody Hudson aka Struggle Inc. handled all the graphic design elements surrounding Nike’s involvement in the 2012 Chicago Marathon. It was probably one of the most memorable campaigns I can remember... I wonder what they got in store for 2013?
