Ok, so update… I DID get fired from my job because of my disabilities. I bet some (ableist) people will still put the blame on me but in the end of the day, my career counselor made it seem like she was in communication with that job for me. I told her that I couldn’t make phone calls at all because of my disability, and she seemed to be ok with doing a few calls for me, but evidently she actually wasn’t in contact with them. Also, for some reason, the clinic only sent me a depression test… they never sent the doctors slip asking off from work like I asked for. And I thought that was pretty stupid for them to send me that because I go to therapy every week, they know that, and all my diagnostic tests are all up to date through that. Just mad that they sent a fucking depression test instead of the thing that could’ve helped me keep my fucking job. Even then I think it was too late anyways because they sent it out so late. I was fired by the time it came in the mail.

And idk if I’ll be able to afford my basic needs these next couple months because idk when I’ll get another job. Like I’m working with programs and all that, but, like I told my therapist yesterday., I’m very apathetic towards them because most of those programs meant to help people like me never usually help that much and they also take forever to get anything done and don’t properly communicate with me or anyone else. But, I’m still going to use them because what other choice do I have? I don’t have any support system. I don’t have anywhere to go if I do end up homeless again.

And I’m hesitant to do something like a GoFundMe because I don’t have many followers and don’t have much reach… so it’d be a waste of time because no one would donate.

Idk. I’m scared. My sui ideations are sky rocketing. And I feel utterly alone.

Shoutout to all the other disabled leftists with cognitive symptoms who cannot read leftist theory. You are not less of a leftist, or less of an activist.

Honestly, just sending love to all the leftists who haven’t touched the heaps of theory out there. Reading theory isn’t required to be a leftist. If you’ve got a grip on your core beliefs (e.g. anti-capitalism, anti-fascism & anti-racism!) and do your best to help others & follow those beliefs? You are doing so well. You don’t need to read complex theories to stay true to your basic beliefs and follow them with your actions. So, we are sending you love and strength. 🙂‍↕️🫰.

(This is not saying reading theory is bad/unhelpful/useless- just that a lot of it is inaccessible! Folks who cannot access clear & digestible information about leftist theory are still leftists. That’s all this post is saying.!)

People eventually get diagnosed BECAUSE they are already disabled and struggling. The symptoms don't appear AFTER the diagnosis. So don't expect everyone without a professional diagnosis to be basically fine. That makes no sense.

i also think it speaks to some kind of entitlement others have to immediately, indirectly or directly, demand information from a disabled person as to why they can't do something. what specific needs or struggles or medical conditions do they have that stops them from doing an action? it's not enough that they set a clear boundary ("I can't do that"), people want to evaluate it. honestly it's kind of arrogant that they feel the need - like the inability to do something, literally a part of disablement, has to make sense to you, personally, before it's a legitimate excuse - oh i mean reason. sometimes people ask "why can't you do that thing?" but more often people hurl suggestion after suggestion at the disabled person, and force them through conversation to explain in minute detail why they can't follow your advice. it really feels like disabled people are being tested to see if they're actually disabled and not faking. if they don't explain why the most obvious advice that you, a stranger, thought up in a few moments is viable, then they're obviously not putting enough effort into trying to do the thing. i've literally seen this played out so many times with disabled bloggers here like beat for beat. i think some of you are ableist actually
