Fuck it, doing my own take on the Flynn thing
He's Alicia's son, but instead of being pulled into a natural portal as a kid, he was stillborn
Misery Vex doesn't exist, baby Flynn was raised by Pandora
He's 19 during the time of the series
Alicia's divorce was partially brought on by Flynn being stillborn, but even if he had gotten to live and grow up human, she still would've gotten a divorce because her ex husband was a piece of shit
He'd sometimes ask Pandora if he could watch over Alicia, because he loves both of his moms
He never left the Ghost Zone until after the events of (modified) Phantom Planet, and ran into Danny. It takes him a bit to realize that's his cousin, but he can see some family resemblance between them
Though he is an adult, he still has some childish tendencies and wants to experience some aspects of the human childhood he never had
He also pays Alicia a visit and it's a very heartfelt, tearful reunion between mother and son
He grew up by choice. His obsession is ultimately his lost childhood, which later morphs into his family
#danny phantom#flynn fenton#I don't want to go with walker as the last name so his last name is up to interpretation#he's still considered a Fenton though

Honest to god as much as I'm loving this arc, I'm a little bothered with some of the deaths and other choices, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and start on a rewrite
Starting with a rewrite of Squirrelflight's Hope
After reading the spoilers on the forum, I'm BEGGING you to please make an AU and rewrite TBC lol! I won't spoil it, of course, but lemme just say that I am so honestly disappointed by what happens. At first, I thought it was a prank, but then a vid was posted with proof of them flipping through the book physically, showing Root's new name, etc. Legit, when I read the spoilers and saw the proof, and thought, "Somebody's gotta fix this mess with a fic" and I bet you'd do amazingly
That's too bad :(! Tbh I don't know if I'll be able to write something so big, since I have a few books (for a different fandom) planned PLUS a bunch of other projects lol, but I'm really really hoping to. Rn I don't think I'll be able to, but you never know!
Also thank you so much haha! You're so sweet

Look, I know canon Blossomfall is pretty awful
But she’s a really fun character for me to project onto when writing because... I can sorta relate to her to a degree, as someone who was neglected for a large part of their life
It absolutely doesn’t justify anything she did, but like... I get how she feels
Then again, I’m also writing her to be a better character in general and in doing so am projecting basically everything about my childhood onto her
She’s got a huge inferiority complex and Briarlight is basically “the favorite” because of how many times she’s been close to death (right now they’ve just become apprentices, so only twice, but it’s enough for Blossompaw to think she has to prove herself that she’s amazing to get Millie’s attention and love)
This inferiority complex makes her an easy target for the Dark Forest to prey on, which only fuels her anger
However, unlike in canon, she actually ends up talking with others about how she’s feeling, and even has a talk with Millie and finds out she didn’t realize Blossomfall was so upset. She showed what looked like favoritism towards Briarlight because she’d been close to dying multiple times at a young age, and Blossomfall realizes she was overreacting
She ends up with a much better relationship with her family, and she’s a lot less angry about everything. Eventually, she loses the inferiority complex and is one of Briarlight’s biggest supporters
#trying not to spoil a ton of my story but i had to ramble about her#blossomfall#warriors#warrior cats#wc

Danny's Powers and Phantom Planet
This has been a personal theory of mine for a while. I study genetics as part of my biology major, and I've been applying that to my long-term special interest Danny Phantom for a couple years now. I could go on for a while about this, but I want to explain my personal theory for why Danny was able to get rid of his powers by going through the portal again, and regain them by getting blasted by multiple ghosts.
A lot of the changes to Danny's DNA were ultimately controlled by epigenetic factors. The original accident caused the mutations that allowed him to produce ectoplasm and ultimately become part-ghost. Recreating the accident inactivated those mutant genes, leaving him with only a white streak in his hair (and a small segment of green in his eyes) to show it was ever there. Since his powers weren't actually gone, just inactive, they were easy to reactivate with enough ectoplasmic energy--say, a dozen or so ghosts blasting him.
Yeah it's pseudoscience but that's what the show is based on. Besides, I like making explanations that are based in my studies but expanded to account for fiction.

Changes: Jack Fenton
The other main character going through a massive personality makeover. The idiot dad trope was old when the show first aired, and I believe it has aged poorly. Coupled with learning about my own neurodivergence, I've decided Jack gets a reboot
Jack Fenton has adhd (he's also probably autistic but went undiagnosed since it looked pretty similar to his adhd). He's still fairly oblivious, struggles to stay focused, and doesn't think ahead most of the time, but these are things he's trying to work on. He's much smarter than people give him credit for most of the time (he is an inventor and scientist after all). Yeah he's still goofy and can come off as an idiot, but he's ultimately very well-meaning. He has hyperfixations/special interests on ghosts and inventing, and he can and will info-dump about his latest projects or about ghosts.
Part of why the portal had the on/off buttons on the inside was he grabbed the wrong panel and didn't realize it because the buttons were covered. He feels pretty awful knowing Danny got hurt because he failed to check the paneling properly, but is grateful that he seems to be okay after being electrocuted. He's still none the wiser when Danny becomes considerably more clumsy, thinking it was an after effect of the accident. He's usually so focused on something else he doesn't notice Danny turning invisible at times, or how his eyes seem to glow green when he gets upset. He's bothered by Danny missing his curfew, his slipping grades, and how he doesn't do his chores as often, but he thinks Danny is going through a phase of teenage rebellion or perhaps he needs accommodations in school and this was his way of saying something is wrong.
I've decided to change the Fentons from ghost hunters to ghost researchers because they do seem to want to know more about ghosts themselves, and destroying them probably isn't the best option for that. Jack had still grown attached to the idea of potentially ripping them apart molecule by molecule, but is learning to stop himself. He can't destroy his possible test subjects, or else there won't be anything to properly study. Danny still panicked about his parents finding out his secret because he doesn't want to become another of their test subjects.
Speaking of Danny's secret, I like to think Jack and Maddie gradually put the pieces together based on their encounters with Phantom, but dismissed it because it didn't make sense. Until Reality Trip proved them right. Jack is once again pretty upset because this went back to the issue of the incorrect paneling of the portal (after Jazz explained what Danny had told her). He's also crushed to think that Danny would think he'd become a test subject and then be tossed away by them. Ghost, human, or in between, he and Maddie love their son. It's because of this acceptance that Danny elects not to erase his parents' memories after Reality Trip, although he does do it to everyone else.
It's after figuring out Danny that Jack realizes what happened to Vlad from his lack of focus. He tries to reason with him multiple times, but Vlad is having none of it. When Vlad tries to take over Amity Park in the revised edition of Phantom Planet, knowing Danny was currently powerless, it was Jack who fought him until Danny regained his powers after getting blasted by multiple ghosts trying to gather allies to stop Plasmius (I'll explain my logic for that in another post). Jack is able to stall Vlad until Danny and his new allies return. Unfortunately, his alternate future self had been released and was now allied with Vlad. At one point, Danny is struck down and seems to be defeated. Jack, in a flurry of emotion at seeing his son like that, gets a couple good shots in at the two ghosts before Danny tells him to cover his ears and stay behind him. Danny unleashes a Ghostly Wail that ultimately weakens the ghosts enough for capture via Fenton Thermos. Danny's secret is out to Amity Park for good now, and it's Jack who keeps the Guys in White as far away as possible from any Fentons.
He may mess up a lot, may not think things through, and struggles to keep focused, but he would do anything to protect his family.
(He and Maddie also do get samples from Danny with his consent to do research on. The revelation of halfas is a very interesting subject among fellow ghost researchers and biologists alike.)

Changes: Sam Manson
Canonically, I've realized Sam isn't exactly... great. She's actually kinda a hypocrite, given how she keeps talking about the importance of individuality but also tries to shove her beliefs down others' throats--a problem that started in the very first episode, Mystery Meat. It's been really bothering me, especially after Mr. Enter's review of Danny Phantom, and I want to fix that.
I'm keeping her a gothic vegan (because she's basically a vegan with a fancy name) who values individuality, but now she's not trying to force her lifestyle on others.
In Mystery Meat, for example, she petitions to the school board to add vegetarian and vegan options to the lunch menu. However, it's the school board who decides they're doing only vegetarian and vegan options for a week, and credit Sam for the whole thing. As happy as she is to have lunch options at school, this wasn't what she wanted. She later organizes a protest to keep the new menu options but also add the original ones back, and when she realizes Tucker was doing the same, they join forces.
Another thing that's changed is her relationship with Paulina. Sam now has reason to dislike her and the other popular kids other than they're popular. She and Paulina actually used to be friends when they were little, and their parents are friends as well. But as they grew up, it became obvious that Sam didn't want to conform to femininity like the rest of the group. She started dressing in black and was more interested in things like video games, poetry, and the paranormal. Paulina basically kicked Sam out of the friend group and insulted her for not being as girly as them. To this day, there's bad blood between them, even though their parents still get along fantastically. In Parental Bonding, she tries to get Danny to not pursue Paulina, but is ultimately supportive of him when things seem to be working out. Then she discovers Paulina only went out with Danny to make her jealous when she decided to try and patch things up with her. There's no mending their friendship in the near future after that.
Sam is also incredibly guilty over the portal accident. She blames herself for Danny's injuries after ghost fights, because if she hadn't convinced him to go into the portal, none of this would've happened. This comes to a breaking point twice in the series: in Memory Blank and Phantom Planet.
In Memory Blank, she has a massive fight with herself over recreating the portal accident. She doesn't want to hurt Danny like that again, but since she wished they had never met, he never got his powers. Her options were to either recreate the accident or seek out Desiree and try to undo the wish, and she didn't want to risk the latter for fear of messing up more. Recreating the accident was the better of two bad options.
In Phantom Planet, she's upset Danny decided to get rid of his powers, but does ultimately support him. Still, her guilt was rising because it never would have come to this if he never went in the portal to begin with. She breaks down after seeing Valerie getting thrown in the back of a garbage truck in a promotion for Master's Blasters. Danny, who had left to get himself a corndog and missed the promotion entirely, decides to follow her and figure out what's wrong. She lets it spill that she blames herself for everything that's happened after the initial accident: for all the injuries, for Valerie, for all the fear it caused him because of his parents. She doesn't blame him for wanting to get rid of his powers. They do have a heart to heart, though, where Danny says the accident was one of the best changes in his life, and he was realizing just how boring it was without his powers. He decides to figure out how to get them back--but first, they need to get Valerie (this'll make more sense when I get around to my Phantom Planet rewrite or at least new summary).
Finally, I've decided Sam is agender. After the whole issue with Paulina, she realizes that while she's not a boy, she's certainly not a girl either, and discovers that being neither is a valid option. She uses she/her pronouns out of convenience, but also uses they/them and it/its.

So I'll go into detail on how their characters change after I'm out of work, but for my idea of a Danny Phantom rewrite, both Sam and Jack go through some pretty big personality makeovers
Basically Sam is no longer shoving her beliefs down everyone's throats and Jack has adhd and isn't seen as an idiot by literally everyone

At least he and his sisters get a guaranteed happy ending in my Briarlight gets revived fic
So they go to ThunderClan since Tigerheart refused his leader ceremony and chose Tawnypelt to lead ShadowClan instead. Shadowpaw is apprenticed to Alderheart after the deaths of Jayfeather (to revive Briarlight) and Leafpool (that's spoiler territory though--though it's not Squirrelflight's Hope continuity, especially because Squirrelflight ends up retiring and is replaced by Ivypool). He then gets captured by the spoiler villains and is fearing for his life until a blind Briarlight takes down the villains because they underestimate her. He becomes Shadowsight and has a happy medicine cat life, while his sisters become Lightflower and Pouncewing, and Lightflower is Ivystar's last deputy and becomes Lightstar (Ivystar had at least one deputy before her who retired most likely)
Wow that was much more ramble-y than I expected. At least I'm finally almost getting a new chapter out for that fic. It's got endgame BriarDove so I gotta start developing them since I do plan for Shadowsight to have some new siblings (sired by Bumblestripe but raised with Briarlight and Dovewing (who was the one who had them) as their moms)
No I have a better idea for Tigerheartstar's Surprise and it's how he finds out the cat possessing Bramblestar is one of his Dark Forest mentors because I REFUSE to accept Shadowsight being dead and I will literally rewrite the whole arc if I have to just to keep him alive. Stop killing the willing medicine cats please
DUDE I'd love that tbh. Since it was driven in SqH that they have no idea where bad cats/cats who don't go to StarClan go, it'd be interesting to see if a Dark Forest cat is possessing Bramble.
Also dude. If Shadowsight is dead I swear I will actually make what happens after my AVoS rewrite a six book series and make my version of Shadowsight live
