I really hate western medicine. So I had a primary care appointment a little over a month ago because my hypermobile joints are finally getting to the point where the simplest tasks cause intense pain. I’ve had to start wrapping my ankles if I want to do anything more than a simple short walk. So I decided to show my doctor what I am able to do with my joints. Suffice to say, it isn’t any normal range of motion that any human should be capable of. She sent off a referral for rheumatology, and they declined seeing me. Next step was a referral to genetics. They’re refusing to see me. The reason I’m given? Because if this is an issue, there would be documentation. Now, on top of the joint issues, my skin is also very elastic (a fun little trick I can do to gross out students and their parents when I want to have some fun). So now, I get a referral to an actual specialist who deals with EDS and the adjacent issues. Sadly, they are out of network, and appointments would be $500 each. I’m at my wits end trying to figure this shit out. I’m tired of my good days being fewer and farther between. I’m tired of being in constant pain. And I’m tired of medical doctors refusing to get their pompous heads out of their asses.

actually that’s the point. if you want 100% canon characters go watch the show. if you want canon accurate character study fics don’t click on the modern no magic au where the characters have lived entirely different lives with new backstories and different traumas and experiences
but also even if someone writes a canon divergent fic or even fully canon compliant fic but makes a decision that you don’t think would EVER happen in canon… then that is very much still the point.
we write things because we want to see what would’ve happened or what could happen or what might’ve happened or what maybe never would’ve happened but might just be fun to play around with.
fun.

No one gets to decide whether your trauma was traumatizing except for you! Trauma is more about how your brain responds to something verses what the event actually is. Things that may not affect someone else can be absolutely traumatizing for others and things that would traumatize someone else may not register to you much at all. This is all valid!
