I understand the incredulity but I would find it difficult to claim Ditto to be the closest living relative to… anything. Just by the nature of what it is, if it could be something’s closest living relative, most of the strongest dragon types would apply. My hypothesis- and I cannot state it to be anything more- is that due to the quirks of Eevee mentioned, it is interacting whatever genome is hiding under the shifting mass of redundant DNA that is Ditto. Mew, I would suggest. Though some cocktail of Mew and human could be guessed too. That would certainly explain the face mimicry.
I’m sure you’ve heard every cookie cutter argument for Ditto’s supposed origins, so I won’t bother with the proximity explanations, nor the supposed weight and height comparisons, not the reported infamous ‘Mewblue’ sighting that everyone uses to support it. They do make me believe in the idea, and I still think that Mewtwo is the origin of Ditto, in some form. But, to give a more scientific exploration, it feels notable that not a single other Pokémon discovered besides Ditto and supposedly, Mew, has the ability to transform on that level. You claim shapeshifters to be elusive, and that is true. However, Zorua from both Unova and old Sinnoh are tricksters; only taking on the appearance of a Pokémon which can be easily shattered. Musharna’s Dream Mist acts the same. No other Pokémon can use Transform. Two hundred Pokémon around the world can learn Tackle, and you’d tell me that it’s coincidence that the only two who can use this one move are a Pokémon brought to Kanto for experiments, and a supposedly unrelated Pokémon who appeared for the first time in Kanto as that was happening?

I know that back in my day, Eevee were a collector’s commodity due to the difficulties that came with breeding them. They were rare and elusive in the wild, and because of the nature of their DNA, crossbreeding them was nigh impossible, leading to offspring that resembled the other parent far more than the Eevee. Combine that with a Pokémon that doesn’t particularly breed well with itself, and you’ve got a recipe for something very expensive to own.
Cue the unveiling of the latest miracle in Pokémon breeding- Ditto. No longer would you need two compatible Dragonite to have a clutch of dragon eggs. Rare Pokémon as a concept were shattered by this new ‘technology’, so to call it. Everyone was happy, and suddenly, Eevee was a pet that could be brought into any household. Thing is, I don’t think that this little miracle came without its consequences. Consider the news from back in the day about Eevee. They’re rare, their DNA can adapt to their surroundings, they’re a core candidate in the study of evolution. And now consider the news of today. Eevee’s faces are shifting to more resemble their trainers. Eevees are being born with access to a plethora of before-now unheard of attacks. We’ve still never found another Pokémon who can replicate exactly whatever ‘Bouncy Bubble’ is even meant to be.
I feel pretty confident that Ditto breeding has run havoc with a lot of the genetic purity of Eevee worldwide. Though that’s very hard to prove when the contaminant is something who’s DNA is constantly mixing and shifting and reshaping. And no, we’ve never gotten an official paper on how Ditto came to be. But anyone who’s heard of the Mewtwo Project can add three Magnemite together and get Magneton. I can’t wait for somebody to show up revealing that they’ve found and caught Mew, just to get a pure DNA sample from it and see if I’m correct. If nothing else I’d like to shove that victory in Oak’s face before I die.

For purebred Eevee, the classic sort mostly found in forests, I can confirm that science suggests Poochyena to be the closest cousin we’ve so far discovered in the wild. For the domestic breed I can’t say much because it’s one of my other ‘controversial theories’ but I’d suggest it may have more in common with Mew, by technicality.

The concert was, as expected, not much to my tastes. Still, I enjoyed it nonetheless. If nothing else there was a particularly feisty Noivern near the stage who was fascinating to watch. And I’ll admit- I’m leaving as quite a fan of Tia Donn now. Perhaps I’ll even enquire into getting a CD!
It would seem that I have been invited to a concert. Can’t say the headlining acts are mostly ones I’ve ever heard of. Grassknot, HM08, The Stomping Tantrums, Double Iron Bash, Mamoswine. One that a lot of people seem particularly excited for is some group named Tia Donn and the Metal Sounds. I suppose she plays the bass. Very clever. At the very least there’s what seems to be a Palossands tribute act named Pokésounds Revived so there’ll be some songs I recognise. No harm in me checking it out, I suppose. If anybody else recognises this concert and will be there a week today, feel free to say hello.

Well, that depends. If you’re in most regions, it’s a bug type found in forests, not dissimilar to Butterfree or Beautifly. If you’re in Kalos or Paldea, it’s a provider of a core component of many of the region’s sleep aids, blood thinners, and in general an allergen you may want to be tested for if you’re uncertain.
Just for the sake of personal curiosity once more.

how did they TAKE that picture without dying-
From what I can ascertain there's some trade of underground 'cognitohazards' in certain places of the web, so it's doubtful that they took it themselves. My best guess when it comes to the original is that it was taken via a Rotom operated camera; as I doubt that a ghost type could be much more affected by the hazard. Not a day passes where Rotom technology does not vex me yet more.

Somebody just tried to send me an image of a Shedinja hole via direct messages. If I had seen the full image, I'd likely be in no good state right now. However, because I was using my Poryphone, I had time to scroll away from the image and delete the message. Another huge victory for the Poryphone over the Rotom Phone.

Do all of you folk out there even know what a Druddigon is? No judgement either way, I’m simply collecting data points for a study.

If you don’t mind me saying, I might not be a dark type researcher per se but that looks like quite a large specimen for the Mightyena species. Is it feeding habits, or something else like misleading furring or Arcanine heritage?

I’m going to a Dragon show held by the Dragon-type Breeders’ Association today. They not only do conformation, but they also do activities and sports with their Dragons as well. It’s my second time going to one of these. I recommend it to anyone who likes Dragon-types.

I will not get within eighty feet of a Guzzlord. I don’t care how ‘well trained’ and ‘friendly’ it is. That thing is an alien. It eats cities without end or remorse. I will do all of my studying of one of those things from second-hand accounts of the survivors of its wake, and otherwise from a distance.
I need validation for being scared of carnivine

Hey, aficionados of rare and elusive kinds of Pokémon. I’ve just been reading through some of my old papers and it’s gotten me thinking, maybe I should talk about some of the stuff I’ve come up with on here; try to get a little more positive notoriety. So I’m going to give you all a riveting discussion on Rough Skin Convergence and the properties of Garchomp pigmentation.
A lot of scientists; namely some of the ones who should probably be retired by now, will try to spin convergent evolution as something entirely new that’s only just been discovered. That, like much of what they say, is absolute nonsense. Professor Carolina, a dear friend of mine and one of the few professors I’ve met who is dedicated to proper research, released her findings years back on the convergence between Sharpedo and Garchomp. And I’d take her word on findings regarding the Garchomp line, considering her familial heritage. Even before, smaller studies were being made on the presence of the ‘common rodent and electric rodent’ that appears in every ecological niche- the redundantly titled ‘Pika-Clones’ if you listen to some. Anyhow, her research dived into the denticles present on the skin of both of the lines, which developed for differing but similar purposes. On Sharpedo, the coarse skin allows it to move as deadly quickly through water as it is known to. On Garchomp, it is the same for swimming through sand. However, Garchomp also have a far thicker skin than their aquatic counterparts, partially because sand is a finely divided solid and not a liquid, partially because rocks are more likely to be suspended in sand than in water, and partially due to the beating sandstorms found above ground in desert regions. The skin is not thick enough to help it withstand powerful attacks from other desert dragons, such as Flygon, but it’s ferocity allows it to often come out of that combat less scathed than its adversary.
Now, you may ask how this comes back to collectors? Well, consider the differences between Sharpedo and Garchomp. Both Pokémon, in their ‘shining’ forms, begin with very vibrant colourations, albeit in very different shades. However, upon evolution, Sharpedo takes on a vibrant pink, likely in an attempt to mimic a more powerful ecological predator in its ‘shining’ form, Kyogre. Meanwhile, as a ‘shining’ Gible ages and evolves, it’s skin will lose its vibrant colouration for a duller greyish-blue, similar to the base form. This has been a bane for many who wish it retained its base hues. However, it makes complete sense for that shade to occur when you consider that it is ideal for heat reflection in the desert sands, moreso even than it’s more common tone. Which would naturally occur in a variation that had been subject to more heat retention due to its more cyan tones in prior evolutions. So, to you all, who laud Garchomp as having a terrible ‘shining’ variation, I implore you to consider exactly why it ends up that way.

Welcome to this platform. It’s nice to have a fellow researcher here, especially one capable of thinking for herself instead of just following whatever the big names are saying. I’ll admit, I have little idea about what you’re talking about- I visited Alola once to hear what people were saying about that Guzzler that showed up or whatever they called it and that’s about as close as I’ve gotten to any sort of dimension portal. Still, I’d love to hear more about your findings. Perhaps there is even a universe out there where Oak is not a total boob.
Let's get this over with.
My name? Yes. I am Doctor Adrianne Seculoz Verdand. But just call me Adrianne. She/her pronouns, if you please. I'd worry about my identity getting out there, but that hardly bothers me any longer.
I am a professor of multiversal study. To put it simply, the concept of a shared universe, inhabited by an uncountable infinity of different beings, all living their own lives, was fascinating beyond measure. But then, as all scientists do given enough study, I began to notice... patterns. Individuals whose names and pasts stay mostly constant across the multiverse. People who have no equivalent anywhere else that's been recorded. Events playing out the same way over and over, like some sort of twisted theater performance.
The horrific truth became clear in due time- our universes, however different they may be, have a shared heritage. Some unfathomable cosmic event has, I believe, forced them apart. But now that I know the reality of the situation, I have been driven to near madness by it.
Our lives are intertwined. Irrevocably so. And for as many people and Pokemon who are "multiversal constants" (a term I coined myself) there are, there are twice as many of us who are unimportant. Irrelevant. We do not repeat. We are unique only in our insignificance.
I can only try to hold onto a shred of my sanity, and hope that I may someday figure out the method to all this madness...
You can find the index of my discoveries thus far here.
Mod Kirby back at it again. Adrianne's blog concept is one I've been interested in creating for a while now, someone who has seen the patterns of the multiverse, and doesn't quite understand what they mean, but knows that it's significant. By its nature, her blog will entail concepts relating to existentalism, meta awareness, and nihilism. You may want to avoid interacting if any of those aren't your fancy. No judgement!
Adrianne has no Pokemon of her own. She's sort of just wandering the streets in despair, trying to understand the world around her. She only joined Rotomblr in hopes of learning more about the ways of the multiverse.
If Adrianne's beliefs don't support the way your blog has the multiverse function, that is more than okay! I encourage her beliefs and ideas to be challenged, it's good for her.
