Been meaning to finish chapter 3 for a while, I'm just not used to writing real conflict. Most of my work so far has been fluff and mild angst.

THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS EP. 6 SPOILERS!!!

I wanna talk for a minute about what I've been seeing come out of this fandom ever since episode 5.

Has the dust cleared enough for me to say that you can like Jax's character without defending his actions?

Because I've been hearing about a lot of people defending him and there just...isn't a justifiable reason to do so?

Look, I'm a Pinky and the Brain fan. Brain fans know a thing or too about their favorite character being an asshole to someone they clearly care about; you do NOT need to try to protect someone like Jax

Jax is the kind of character that needs outside, certified help or he is going to destroy everything good- intentionally or not. Unless something really shakes his worldview, he is not going to improve.

"Oh, but he probably has a sad backstory-"

Zip it; literally everyone in the Circus has a sad backstory. I don't care if he was transported there at the age of 19 or whatever; I don't care if everything he is doing is a coping mechanism; none of that excuses anything that he does or is going to do in the last few episodes.

These last few episodes have finally gotten me interested in his character, and I'm not just gonna stay quiet while people coddle that pathetic rabbit man. I wanna smush him into paste, study him under a microscope, see what makes the guy tick.

And for the peeps that hate Jax- that's valid, he is a very hate-able character. You stay in your lane, Jax simps need to stay in theirs. There's no reason people need to be fighting.

Note that he is not my favorite character (that would be Pomni); I just really like what's been written in his story so far

Asterix and Obelix's relationship written right is some of the most wholesome shit you'll ever see.

Asterix completely trusting Obelix to throw and catch him, Obelix holding with care, this is the stuff that keeps me warm all winter long dfghfdsfgd

"Geez, we almost had this kinda thing happen at some points in season 3, but I know we could have gotten a whole episode if we had just gotten season 4 with a follow-up on the Julia plotline.

Julia finally puts the remnants of her brain together and uses Pinky as leverage to try to take the world from Brain, and Brain just panicking while trying not to be obvious that it bothers him but Julia KNOWS she's got him.

I want it injected in my veins so baaaad-"

I feel like the patb community moved on from Future Brain WAY too fast.

We had a version of Brain that was completely broken in the future. So broken and driven mad that he thought it'd be a good idea to go back to the past and eliminate Pinky because he believed he was the source of all his problems. He didn't even have a problem with the idea there was a chance he would cease to exist in the process (or that he could create a split in the timeline depending on what theory of time travel you go with; I personally subscribe to the multiverse theory but we're assuming he's trying to rewrite history and erase himself so Present Brain doesn't turn into him).

It gave Present Brain a dilemma that could have been fleshed out or revisited at some point; The World or Pinky

Yea, everything goes back to the spin-off, doesn't it?

He was faced with a choice: Keeping things the way they are, or eliminating who he believes the source of all his problems are.

This was something touched upon in season 2 as well in "Plight of Hand"; The Brain vs The Heart.

In Future Brain, Brain didn't really get to make his choice verbally but attempted to beat himself into submission for even considering to eliminate Pinky from the equation.

And from the ending of the episode, we understand Brain is just doomed to drift towards Pinky, no matter the form

But then that's the last time we see him. Ever.

Absolutely criminal.

Having Brain properly confront himself would have been my endgame, but you can't rewrite the past...

I can't wait for Ramen Akaneko season 2 to come out! I know it's gonna be a bit of a wait since it only got announced December of last year, but I just miss those cats and Yashiro so much. I'm also caught up on the manga, so it really is just a waiting game at this point.
