Dreamy’s Song List!

Nobody asked for this, but for the sake of putting something on this blog after being busy and feeling out of it for the past few days, I thought I’d share some of the songs that I think a dreammate would hear in their dreams about me, and why.  So, here’s a top 5.

1. That Green Gentleman by Panic! At The Disco

I haven’t had the hardest life, but my life has certainly not been the easiest, either… And this song soothes a lot of my anxieties about past and future. Things have changed from how they used to be, and they will change in the future, and that’s okay! I think the sound and general feel of the song fits me pretty well, too. It’s kind of mild and quirky, with a bit of pep!

2. Ghost by Mystery Skulls

Alright, so, this song…. I didn’t even watch the videos or even hear about Mystery Skulls until September, and from the minute I watched MSA’s videos of Ghost, Magic. and Freaking Out, my life was changing. I basically ended up buying all of Mystery Skulls’ albums and I’ve been listening a LOT since. Putting the videos aside, though, there’s just something very special about Ghost. The beat, the singing, the lyrics, the sound of the song… it’s incredible. My friends catch me singing or humming it in skype calls constantly. Such a wonderful dance song that’s fun to sing.

3. This Is Gospel by Panic! At The Disco

Yeah, I know, another PATD song… This one holds a lot of personal meaning for me. If you’re familiar with the music video, I identify really strongly with it. Being held down, held back by people who supposedly want the best for you, the cry of “IF YOU LOVE ME, LET ME GOOOOOOO” and the bombastic beat… Yeah. It’s symbolic of breaking free someday from well-intentioned holding-back. Of freedom. For me, at least.

4. Ice Fairy by xi-on

Might need to provide a link for this. 

A touhou arrangement? Dreamy, how obscure can you get? Well, to me it’s not just about Touhou, but the feel of the song… It reminds me of some of my favorite childhood video games and their associated memories (mostly Sonic Adventure), and the jazz/rock feel with the soft music at the start… I don’t know, it just makes me feel very nostalgic and myself.

5. Flare (Cascade Cut) by Clark “Plazmataz” Powell   Homestuck? Not Undertale? Dreamy, what? Well… it took a lot of thought, but I feel like Homestuck deserves the spot here, not only because of its influence on Toby Fox, but also because, I met friends that I treasure dearly through Homestuck, it ended this year, and just getting to participate in that little bubble of fandom with my friends, to have fun, bond, and scream about a dumb, amazing, ridiculous webcomic with, through both times of frequent updates and pauses… It was great. As silly as this sounds, Homestuck means a lot to me, and this particular song, Flare, plays during one of the most beautiful and climactic moments of the comic, Cascade… When Derse’s moon floats through the Furthest Ring, and Spades shoots Sn0wman and the universe ends. With the beauty of the song, combined with how much the comic means to me… I just felt it deserving of a slot.

Dreamy’s Song List!

What would the fell take and swap skelebros do when they find out how insecure their s/O if super ashamed of their stretch marks?

he’s ??? he thought they were scars and, to be honest, to have that many (and in vulnerable places like your stomach or chest) and still be standing was actually something he was proud of you for. you’ll probably get a long, confusing speech about scars being marks of honor and proof of survival in the end- which can technically still apply to your stretch marks

also thought they were just old scars from wounds, and is surprised you’d feel ashamed of them? scars are scars- they all have them. he might show you a particularly gnarly one on his ribcage to compare, and continue to assure you that, really, they’re no big deal. if any more start showing up, though, it’ll be a serious conversation about you getting hurt (which will inevitably be about how increased muscle/fat = stretch marks)

he’d shot up like a weed A Little Too Fast growing up, so he actually has the skeleton monster equivalent of stretch marks- thin healed-over ‘stretch cracks’ on his arms and calves. he gets it- he used to be pretty conscious of them all the time (and to be honest, with his baggy clothes, it seems like he’s still a little nervous), but he’s learned to come to terms with them- and, hey, who’s really for all of your stretch marks anyways?

he’d had to be around papyrus while he went through his I’m Hideous Don’t Look At My Marks! stage and is Damned if he’ll let you go through the same thing. he’ll make it a point to continuously talk about how super cool they look, and how they’re proof of your super cool human anatomy functioning in ways that are super confusing but beneficial (AND NOT THE LEAST SHAMEFUL!! NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST!!)

More on Dreammates and Songs

I wonder if perhaps, your favorite songs say a lot about you? Not to say people guaranteed conform to stereotypes: I don’t think people who listen to metal are all angry and aggressive. But I think it perhaps speaks to a facet of your personality, one that may not be immediately apparent, such as a love of action or a need for drive.

I suppose I could try to hazard a guess as to those traits just from your favorites... But I think it’d be more fun for you, the people reading this, to think about it and reflect upon yourself for this.

Hey, maybe it’s be fun to collect your favorite songs in a playlist and call it the Dreammate Mix.... what your mate would hear in their dreams of you.

Would anyone be interested in seeing mine? Or perhaps showing me a few of their favorites? I may not be the most avid music listener, but I think it’d be fun to hear new songs!

Bisicle and Cinnamon Bunny!

Bisicle: What's your favorite land, and what was your least favorite?I LOVED the Core and Snowdin! So much. As for a least favorite, uh... I don’t know! I loved all the areas, I don’t know if I have a least favorite....

Cinnamon Bunny: If you were Alphys, what would your robot have been named and what would have been your shtick? (EX. Mettaton, he was a show host)I had to stop a bit and just think about this one, because this idea has never occurred to me. I think I’d build a broadway dancing and singing robot, along the lines of a vocaloid, in a magician’s outfit! And I think their name would be... maybe Melotta? Like melody.

Spider Cider and Dog Salad?

Spider Cider: What battle made you the most aggravated?I never got exceptionally aggravated or annoyed at any point, but BOY, did I struggle in the Asgore battle. I died a few times. It was hard...(I guess that makes it obvious I never did No Mercy... I could never hurt them all like that.)

Dog Salad: How long did you pet the lesser dog? When you found the snowdogs did you have regrets?I remember having fun petting Lesser dog, but I think I stopped when the spare option came up. I don’t remember the exact number....As for the snowdogs.... I actually had to google this. I didn’t know petting Lesser dog changed something! That’s interesting.

Bandage and Abandoned Quiche?

Bandage: What is a scene from the game that really connected with you?During my first run, it was my first Judgement Hall visit with Sans. I went into the game almost entirely blind in April, so I killed Toriel, but I refused to reset, because I didn’t want to run away from the consequences. I kind of felt guilty the rest of my first run. Sans’ speech during that scene… As strange as it sounds, it spoke to me, like the game knew my exact situation. I remember having to just stop for a bit and collect myself, because it spoke to me in real life, too.

Abandoned Quiche: Do you have any Undertale OC’s? What are their names? Tell us about them.I don’t have any Undertale OCs, per se. ^^’ I’m not very good at OC creation or art… All I can manage is self-inserts, and I know a lot of people look down on it, so I don’t ever talk about it. I do have a couple of non-undertale OCs though, that started as self-inserts and became something else entirely over time…

I feel like the only Undertale character that fits that is Sans. I could see some goddamn nightly rickrolling going on with his poor dreammate.

With that said, I love that song, so I’m sure my dreammate would also encounter it at least once. (It’s a good song!)

We Are Number One sounds like Papyrus, honestly. Thing is, I think it would be entirely non-ironic from him, it’d be in a non-memey way.

What types of music would the UT characters dream about?

Do you mean what music a dreammate would dream of about the Undertale characters? Like, their soulmate’s dreams about them are this kind of music?Sans - Chill, jazzy music most of the time. Brass such as trumpets, trombones, and saxes are a must, however sometimes, a somber piece sneaks in. Think It’s Raining Somewhere Else.

Papyrus- Peppy, upbeat, pop and dance music! Stuff that gets you up and moving, and puts a smile on your face! @underimagines once made a post that said Mystery Skulls, and I can’t help but agree.

Undyne- Rock music! Probably nothing too edgy or angry, but enough to get the blood pumping and get you hyped and ready to go! Eye of the Tiger is a classic that I think fits.

Alphys- I think she’s a mix of soft piano music and Jpop. Sure, she’s a nerd and loves anime, and she’s a sweetie to mix, but she’s clearly very intelligent beneath this, and I think the piano illustrates this.

Toriel- I think Toriel is the undisputed piano master of them all. Her songs are all very moving and classical, which I think fits such a loving and graceful mother. Think Moonlight Sonata.

Asgore- CLASSICAL! Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, you name it. I think Asgore’s instrument of choice, however, is strings. It’s obvious he’s suffered a lot, and I think the strings fit this very well. He’s also a loving father, which I think also fits strings!If you guys want my ideas for more characters, leave ‘em in the ‘box!BONUS: 

Napstablook- Disco, Vaporwave, and Electronica. Basically, more electric goodness, in addition to the feel and surreal of vaporwave but I think Napstablook’s songs would be much slower and more chill than Papyrus’.

On Dreams and Songs

I had another thought… What if some people only dream of songs pertaining to their dreammate? Songs that relate to their personality, what’s important to them, how they feel, their hopes and dreams and fears and nightmares…

It’s also a fun way to look at yourself! A fun self-reflection tool… What do you think your dreammate would dream about? What songs do you think they would hear? What describes you? I might make a post about some songs that might describe me, if anyone’s interested (Just lemme know in the askbox!), and I can give some ideas for character songs, too, maybe! This is such a neat idea….
