7 Future Facts About Your Current Reality:
In celebration of us living in the future world that our ancestors could have only dreamed of, here are 7 Future Facts About Your Current Reality that will show that we do live in a sci-fi future world without even realizing it.

1. The Internet:
We have an instant digital network at the literal push of a button or slide of a trackpad with the entire rest of the world. Some business like Ebay are created solely on the internet and have profited massively. There are emails and social networks that can communicate to anyone with data file attachments through servers, Clouds and apps like DropBox. Underneath this software infrastructure are a series of fiber optic cables installed at the bottom of the Ocean to run this instantaneous network of information. All to make you laugh with a funny cat pic that you share online with your friends.

2. Smart Phones:
We also have mini computers with more processing power than it took to put a man on the moon found in our pockets. These devices have touchscreen functionality, voice recognition software, multiple downloadable apps programs, wireless bluetooth accessories and now fingerprint recognition on the new iPhone. Of course, they also can still make phone calls and send text data to anyone around the world triangulating off of Satellites orbiting our planet.

3. 3D Printers:
At this point in time, you can buy a consumer 3D printer for around $2,000 USD and print out parts for just about anything you can find a blueprint for. A father of a handless child made his son a working bionic hand for $10 in materials after buying such a printer. The son now refers to himself rightfully as a cyborg. 3D Printing is also going to redefine entire space programs in the future. Need a tool or part for the International Space Station? Just print it out onboard instead of sending another expensive space flight there.

4. Consumer Media Tools:
You took an awesome photo and now you can use one of the many apps to edit, crop, airbrush and digitally alter it to your heart's content in a couple minutes. You took a video and now can add AfterEffects or have created an entire music album on your laptop on Ableton or Protools without ever leaving your home. If you get carried away, you can even make a whole illegal blackmarket website worth $2.4 Billion from the comfort of a San Francisco coffeeshop and name it something like SilkRoad.

5. Genetic Engineering:
Just around 70 years ago we discovered DNA. This intricate system of proteins is found in every cell in every living being that has ever existed on this planet. We are talking about everything from a one cell bacteria, to dinosaurs all the way down to us humans and your neighbor's dog that keeps you up at night. Moreover, we have mapped out the human genome and know where on the map a lot of specific genes fall on our DNA to help prevent future illnesses. The DNA system is in quantum ternary (meaning 4 labeled ATGC) instead of digital binary (meaning 2 labeled 0 or 1) like our current computers. We are now toying with creating quantum computers using DNA as inspiration to create the life and simulations of the future.

6. Robots:
They are everywhere and are replacing humans without us even knowing it. Go to a big box store and there are self-checkout stations with a voice telling you what to do. You use robotic gas pumps daily and swipe a plastic card that deducts money automatically from your bank account. We have robots that clean floors or the bottom of pools. In US hospitals, robots wander around delivering drugs or food to patients. In Japan, they take care of the elderly and infants. Just hope they don't become fully sentient and pull a SkyNet revolution Terminator 2 style.

7. Brain Implants:
We have finally implanted a computer diode into a volunteer paraplegic man's head and connected it to a computer. This man has learned to check his email and surf the internet using only his mind. We have also implanted a living rat's brain with a computer diode chip and had a human sitting at a brain scan terminal (like an EEG) to remote control it to move it's tail. Finally, scarily enough, we have sliced up fine slivers of living rat brains, stuck it in a petri dish with nutrients and computer diodes at the bottom and hooked it up to a flight simulator program. After having it crash the plane on the program for a while, it learned how to fly the plane flawlessly including taking off and landing. Flying: so easy rat brains can do it! But just because we are in the future in 2013 doesn't mean we have it all together though. We have no flying cars, can't cure the common cold are trillions of dollars in debt and still go to war with each other over things like oil, terror and territory. We still have no definitive idea of what happens after we die, what actually is going on while we sleep, who started this whole reality and why any of us are here. Best to just sit back and enjoy the wild ride into the Future and beyond. My name is Charlie Z and I am a world touring pro drummer who loves everything EDM (Electronic Dance Music for those who are unaware). I go by the name DRMAGDN (pronouced "Drumageddon" like my over the top drum solo video series on YouTube). In fact, I dig it so much I decided to become a cyborg drummer and simultaneously DJ while shredding insane Drums on top. I am an avid futurist and love all things sci-fi especially dark dystopian future movies like Blade Runner, The Matrix and THX 1178. Follow me at Twitter www.twitter.com/charliezdrums & Youtube.com/drumdocz.
