i love that kcd is primarily about getting deeply and repeatedly involved in Village Drama as a mildly exasperated outsider

when other characters acknowledge that Hans is a great marksman >>>>>>>>>>>>>
#i LOVE how he has his niche#not that he's bad at swordfighting but for me he's always marksman first#his d&d class would be ranger for sure#and henry would be a paladin ofc#hans capon#kcd#kcd2#kingdome come deliverance

and what if i say that playing the KCD games (particularly KCD2) was the most emotional gaming experience in my life.
i think that Mass Effect series still might be my favourite game (i kinda treat the trilogy as one, sorry), i'm a total sci-fi girlie and i love this lore so much, but when the end of it came, i was at peace with it (though granted, it was super emotional). Baldur's Gate 3 has a very special place in my heart, i literally bought PS5 to play it, it's an incredible piece of art that brought me into the world of D&D. when i reached the end, it really felt like i've just experienced a real adventure. it was extremely fullfilling but i was also aware that there are dozens of ways to play this game and i knew there are still many different playthroughs ahead of me. so i was fine.
finishing KCD1 was fine, i knew i still had one (possibly better) game ahead of me. but KCD2? oh boy. i've never dragged out a playthrough so much, simply cause i was so afraid of the feeling of emptiness i would get after finishing a game. i spent so much time in that game doing completely mundane things, all of them bringing me joy - alchemy, smithing, just simply wandering around in awe. i've never been as invested in the lives of the NPCs as i was in this game, i spent so much time just eavesdropping on them. when the ending came i sat in front of my tv and CRIED, with a lump in my throat and a knot in my stomach. it might be silly but it was the first time i felt this proud of a playable character. i finished the game 3 days ago and still i play every day, doing sidequests, just so i can spend much time in that world, which brought me so much joy in past few weeks, when my personal life and work made me feel like shit. this is what art is supposed to do and KCD2 surely is a piece of art.
#sorry i had to put it in words somehow#kcd#kcd2#kingdom come: deliverance#kingdom come: deliverance 2#personal#gaming
