I just got around to reading the newest chapter & event and I HAVE THOUGHTS

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

Starting with the main story:

1.

THATS THE FUCKING CRYPT OF LIYONG. WHATS THAT DOING HERE??? Is it implying that the demon is connected to the god of apocalypse???

2. The exploration group getting a happy ending made me cry. I was already crying at the notion that they had to go back to being a mindless sand monster, but god giving them salvation and being able to freed by light made me so happy.

3. What the fuck is the “light” thing about. I don’t get it right now, because it’s a little odd? Like, the god of apocalypse is only god that can use “light” but isn’t the god supposed to be a bad guy because of the apocalypse part? Idk. I guess we’ll learn more later.

4. I love learning more about these fictional nations history, and now learning that Apple went against its agreement with Savior and tried to use the ocean’s rifts to take out the pigeon soldiers is absolutely devious and I love it.

5. The whole chapter did a really good job of bringing past story beats together and I liked it a lot. I do not know who the second priest was, but I’m happy we got to see Rodha, Hester, and Tess again! I like all of them!

6. Loen and Aeon interacting? Love it! I want more. I can see why shippers ship shit now. Love that stuff.

7. The descriptions of people literally cracking like mirrors when the ocean of memories consumes you is terrifying and the thought that nobody would remember you afterwards only adds to that.

Quick thoughts on the event:

1. Jiang Zhao eating the demon heart? Badass as hell. I loved it.

2. Jiang Zhao almost/basically dying almost made me cry again. That entire sequence of the fight had my heart racing.

3. That side story with the brother looking for his sister who got sold off as a bride was very interesting.

4. Anyone going to talk about how we literally changed history? We kinda created an alternative timeline or something. Is there a way we could do that again? Would that save Miraland?

Overall, I am a very happy lore reader.

I love how fast the letter of complaint about tampons gets derailed. “Forty years of my tampons are stored in my shed. It is attracting bees.” Will forever be my favorite two sentences from SFTH.

I fear I need someone to make a video essay on RTGame’s New Earth server because that thing rattles around in my mind so often.

Like, I’m always just in awe of it because so many players took THREE YEARS on a 1:4000 scale of the earth to just…create.

If your only watching the YouTube videos on his channel, based on a rough estimate, it would take you 9 and half-ish HOURS to see the whole server, and that’s an extremely cut down version.

I can only imagine actually going onto the server and just, wandering. Looking around, seeing the sights of what people build. How many hours could you spend on the New Earth, and still not see everything?

I love the little story lines on the server, like that baguette (?) shop that’s just littered on every continent. That tiny boat that gets cut off at one end of the server and appears at the other end. The koroks hidden everywhere. The amount of personal stories, history, and fun facts you could find just by wandering into random buildings.

I love all the references that you can find, both to RT’s channel and to everything else under the sun.

I love the amount of effort which went into all the large projects. All of the songs which can be found throughout the map. All the towns with hundreds of armor stands to give them life. The mines of moria in South America ( I think?) with the giant cave mountain on top of it and the builds which span across hundreds to thousands of blocks.

I love the amount of effort which went into all the small builds. The cute and cozy houses, the statures of animals, the grocery stores and the roads and the bridges.

I love RT’s community because they were able to achieve all of that.

Everything on the New Earth was made with Love and I can never get over it. Every single block was placed by a person who wanted to create. Everything came together to make a masterpiece. Truly a work of art that I do not think can be replicated again. It’s one of my favorite things to think about because it makes me so hopeful for what people can do together.
