I'm SoulOfAFangirl684 on AO3. I realized recently that there might be some confusion if you run into me on both spaces.I make actual reviews on YouTube too, (under the name Duckie's Anime Diary) but I try to keep those reasonably objective so... Most of my existence on here can be expected to be taken up by shipping anime characters/ the headcanon points that don't make into the reviews.I am aro/ace. You can expect some posts about that sort of thing as well.

"God never gives you more than you can handle" is survivorship bias. People who got more than they could handle are dead.

Anxiety: You're almost 30 and haven't published a single book. You wasted your chance to become a successful author!
Me: Stan Lee created Spider-Man at age 40. George R. R. Martin wrote A Game of Thrones at age 48.
Anxiety: Oh fuck nvm you do you, king.

I wish Americans fucked with more foreign music. You don’t have to know the language to appreciate a good record. Folks in other countries listen to our music and don’t speak a lick of english. Music needs no translator

I love when you’re reading multiple fics by the same author and you start to spot all the phrases and adjectives they like to use

I'm coming to realize that I don't think I hate remakes or adaptations inherently... I'm just so sick of remakes made by people who are completely out of touch with the source material, who will proudly admit that they're not the least bit qualified to be in charge of the project.
I think the biggest reason the One Piece live action adaptation (which we all thought was doomed to fail) actually worked was because everyone involved was so in love with the original. Enough to know that it couldn't be a 1-to-1 retelling. But the heart of what made each of the characters so loved was still there, and that made all the difference for its success.
Anyway. I just discovered there was an earlier version of The Secret Garden (the 1993 version is one of my all-time favorite childhood movies) with an epilogue where Mary and Colin get married at the end and uh...
Excuse me?
Did we not read the book, Hallmark? The part where they're first cousins? Because I remember it being a pretty big plot point that their mothers were identical twins.

i learned that the Twilight Zone was created after Rod Serling’s teleplay inspired by Emmett Till’s murder was heavily censored by networks and advertisers. The censorship led Serling to rethink his approach and delve into the era’s social issues through a filter of science fiction and fantasy (x)

are you ever about to put on a movie but you realize you don't really want to watch The Movie, you want to be eight years old on a rainy saturday, and under your favorite butterfly blanket, and mom made hot chocolate and popcorn with extra butter, and you're watching The Movie for the first time ever? what are you supposed to do then

I hear you scratching at the coffin lid sometimes
You who still believed in mercy—
I have worn your death
like a wedding ring,
digging graves with the same hands
you once used to cup fireflies,
to brush your mother's cheek,
to hold love like something
that wouldn't bleed.
Forgive me.
The world demanded teeth,
so I gnawed through our innocence
and called the taste maturity
I miss the way you laughed
before you learned to flinch—
when your voice didn't crack
at the word 'home',
when your spine was still a question mark
instead of a sword.
Now I find your ghost everywhere:
• In old notebooks where *"when I grow up"*
is written in ink that hasn't faded
• In the way summer rain smells
on pavement you'll never walk again
• In strangers' eyes when they ask
*"What happened to you?"*
and I have to lie
They don't tell you
that survival is just
a series of quiet murders—
how you'll choke the light
from your own throat
and call it *being practical*,
how you'll auction off your joy
piece by piece
to pay the rent on a life
you don't even recognize.
I wear your dreams now
like a skin graft that never took—
this scar tissue where hope used to live.
The world was hungry.
It ate us whole.
And I—
I set the table.

Don't worry. If you ever see me professing not to comprehend something inherently sexual... it's 100% genuine ^^'
theres this maneuver people do online (& sometimes irl) where they just sort of pretend not to comprehend sexuality for the sake of trying to embarrass somebody--like whenever theres a post to the effect of "so i saw a funny thing on this gay porn website" there's inevitably a heap of comments like "why were you on a gay porn website 😭😭" as if it's like this really unusual uncommon & scandalous thing. like. it takes negative effort to deduce why somebody might be browsing a gay porn site lol. & in addition to being self-evidently reactionary, this like theatrics of mediating a performance of being scandalized over porn or fetishes or hookups or whatever through feigned ignorance is just. really deeply annoying. like if you want to call somebody a pervert degenerate etc then say it with your whole chest instead of verbally hoverhanding your insult
