It’s been a while since I’ve been on Tumblr (I’ve been taking a bit of a hiatus from Tumblr), but I have been wanting to upload a few pieces of my recent art on here to share. :D So here’s a drawing of a Temminck’s Tragopan.
Following my visit to that wildlife park on my week off late in July, I saw a fair few animals that I haven't seen before, and similar to the time I went on that virtual safari during my furlough that inspired me to have a go at drawing African animals, the wildlife park visit inspired me to have a go at drawing a few. Out of all of the animals I saw, the one that caught my attention the most was the Temminck's Tragopan, a bird I had never heard of before going to the wildlife park, and even though I sadly never saw one in the flesh, the photo I saw had me intrigued to do some research as the bird caught my attention.  (Due to the bright blue lappet the male ones have, if I'm getting my terminology correct, it made me think it resembles a giant bib  - but I have a feeling that the male Temminck's tragopans show them off a fair bit, so I drew the one being really confident. ) The Temminck's Tragopan is a species of pheasant named after the Dutch zoologist Coenraad Jacob Temminck (who discovered a fair few other animal species too documented here  - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coenraad… ), and they are extremely shy birds (which is probably why we couldn't see one.  ) Their natural habitat is across South Asia, from southwest China to far northeast India and northwest regions of Burma, Myanmar and Vietnam - in particular, the eastern Himalayan mountains, where they migrate up and down the slopes depending on the temperature and time of year, venturing to higher altitudes during the warmer months. They also like damp evergreen forests where they prefer areas of densely growing rhododendron and bamboo.

Here's the last one of the bird photo collages from the Cotswolds Wildlife Park - so next time I'll be moving onto the other animals in the park, but I really loved all of the birds on this collage, so it was a great one to end the birds on. 😄 Fun fact, when I was showing some of my friends on their Discord, they made references to the Skekses from The Dark Crystal with the Ruppell's Griffon Vulture.😉  We also have the red crested turaco, which reminds me a little bit of those cute little porcelain birds I used to see at my grandmothers' houses ♥ , the most wholesome sleepy eagle owl 😍, a striated caracara showing a perfect mix between bird and cats with this one scratching on the edge of the enclosure 🐱🐦 , yellow billed storks, white faced tree ducks, a cassowary, another peacock scratching himself with his foot among ducks and a family of stanley cranes on the lookout.

Next one of the collages of birds from Cotswolds Wildlife Park. 😀  I also wanted to upload a photo of the IUCN Red List for information's sake. The penguin breed is Humboldt Penguins - I couldn't get a good enough picture of the board as there were a lot of people in front of them.  My favourites ones here were the wrinkled hornbill and the tawny frogmouth (who I SWEAR is Grumpy Cat reincarnated as a bird. 🤣 ) When it comes to the Temminck's Tragopan, that was a bird we sadly couldn't see even though I was looking hard, but I wanted to take a picture of the board as I think they look very unique and I hadn’t heard of the bird before taking this photo. 😃

More birds from the Cotswolds Wildlife Park. 😁 Favourites from this one are the bluefaced honeyeater, the madagascar partridge (even if the one wasn't giving me the most flattering view  😅 ), the bali starling (especially after hearing how endangered the poor things are 😟 ), and the green aracari.  (I also loved how smol the weavers are. 😊 )

Next one of my collages of photos I took during my visit to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park last week - with more birds here.  🐦 My favourites here the laughing thrushes (that don't look very amused 😅 ), the black cheeked lovebird and the waldrapp ibis (which I always thought looked a bit vulture-ish.😍 ) Also, the pink pigeon at the bottom is the first of MANY that I saw at the park.

I LOVE IT! 😍This is such an adorable drawing, and with the colouring and background it’s even better - still love how cutely you’ve done their expressions and poses. 🤗Thanks a TON, friend.

Been catching up with my sister and brother in law who came over to visit this week as I had the week booked off work (I was meant to be going on holiday to Malta this week, but of course... stuff happened and we had to cancel our holiday - but I’d say this is a great use of the week 😀 ) - we haven’t seen my sister since Christmas and my brother in law since their wedding in October last year, so it’s great to catch up with them.🥰
Yesterday, my brother in law and I were eating takeaway pizza and watching the Wacken Worldwide livestream - a collection of recordings of past concerts/live recordings of metal bands performing from home.🤘  And when we tuned in yesterday, a recording of a past Iron Maiden concert was on, and I discovered two new bands Beyond the Black and Blind Guardian I really like. And tonight, I’ll be continuing watching it with them as Sabaton, another band I really love, are performing. 😁

Been compiling collages for my favourite photos that I took during my visit to a wildlife park earlier this week, and now that I have the first one I'd like to share compiled, here it is.  👍 The first photo collage is a collection of some of the birds I took photos of, and this time, to make sure that I knew which ones they actually were at a later date and with me trying to learn more about more obscure wildlife, I made sure to take photos of the boards describing them as well. 😉 My favourite birds in this collage are the blue throated piping guan, black curassow, scarlet ibis and red billed blue magpie. 🥰 (And I'm sure we came across that peacock multiple times, and there he's loitering in the homboldt penguin enclosure.😆  )

I love THIS CROSSOVER and they’re drawn really well. XD Does this mean Ozai would be Tzekel-Kan?

The stars. Can’t do it. Not today ✨
I couldn’t resist drawing a crossover between my favorites! Now that ATLA is getting the hype it deserves, I’m definitely gonna draw them more! Tell me what you think! ❤️

Another drawing of my characters from my Nusu the Okapi series, this time of Nusu and Mpandaji the nubian ibex (her name is Swahili for climber), a character I drew a while ago and decided to implement into the story - https://duckyworth.tumblr.com/post/617039404910919680/been-looking-up-some-more-animals-id-like-to-have  -  or Daji for short (Nusu thinks her name is too much of a mouthful so he gives her a nickname😁  )  together. In the story, Daji and her mother figure, Shamba the Scimitar Oryx (her name is Swahili for field), don't really get along very well due to Shamba preferring the ground and Daji preferring to climb tall hills and mountains. Shamba has a fear of rockslides due to losing many members of her herd to one and nearly dying herself (and I'm thinking she may have adopted Daji and tried to teach her how to safely live in the lower plains, but Daji, being curious, began to venture out on her own), and after an argument, she ran away from home thinking she could make it on her own.... which is where she bumps into Nusu, who ran away from home trying to find himself. Daji is a rather confident and at times arrogant individual who is extremely confident in her own abilities (in comparison to Nusu who is more unsure about himself, shy and reserved 😊 ), but upon sympathising with Nusu wanting to find himself in the world, she nonetheless teaches Nusu how to climb hills, while Nusu teaches her how to kick and have intellectual observations of hazards in the distance (both things he learned from his two fathers 😊  ). In these drawings, we have Daji teaching Nusu who to climb (who is stumbling a bit), and Nusu teaching Daji how to kick (and it seems she's finding it harder than she thought. 😅 ) Later on in the story, Daji could have something happen when she runs too quickly up a hill and something like an avalanche or a predator puts her in danger, and Nusu could use something he learned from his dads to help them both out, but while Daji could thank Nusu for helping her, Nusu could reply that if it wasn't for her teaching him how to climb, he wouldn't have been able to help her, and they both acknowledge the skills each other has and respect each other's expertise. (I'm also picturing there could be a little bit of ship tease between the two of them 😍 - they're pretty much the same age and seem to be going through your teen rebellious phases, after all, so it seems they could relate to each other a fair bit. 😆 )
