I am working on an au version of Kamala where she has a public identity instead of a secret one. I was wondering if you had any heat cannons about what that would be like?

I think shed be like super shocked everytime people point her out in public, cause she’s so use to being this background character her whole life, that the moment Kamala gets recognized as Kamala, the boring background girl, and not when she’s the super cool super hero Ms marvel, she’d totally be like “HUH, WHA, ME???” Completely forgetting she’s basically a celebrity

She’d also totally stumble and freak out whenever questioned as Kamala, again just surprised over being famous as Kamala as well

She’d also totally hide out and run away from paparazzi or like fan groups, begging Bruno to hide her every time, and probably using the Q joint to hide in!

Also I could imagine her hanging out with Tony more in public, idk why I just think it’d give them more reason to hang!!

I feel like Kamala and miles would only ever get physical (as in hugging and holding hands and stuff) on Kamala’s terms, just cause of boundaries and stuff, and he’d be perfectly fine with it cause he loves her so much just being around her is enough to fuel him for the rest of the day

i’ve seen a few comments recently about kamala’s marvel girl appearance in which she’s wearing a tighter ‘leggier’ outfit, and most are agreeing with the fact that it’s written to portray her family as an racist stereotype (which i agree with), but some of the sentiments that her outfit is fine and that she can wear what she wants (also true) seem to be missing the point of kamala’s character.

kamala wearing a superhero costume that isn’t extremely form-fitting does appeal to muslim/desi girls because of the representation it provides, but that’s also exactly the reason kamala chooses to do this in the first place.

at the very beginning of her story, she stumbles into the terrigen mist and hallucinates her hero, captain marvel. immediately, she expresses the desire to be as beautiful as she is. this includes being white, blonde, and wearing a ‘politically incorrect’ old costume of hers — meaning skimpy and impractical.

when kamala’s powers manifest, she automatically shapeshifts into a younger version of captain marvel, old costume and all. the only thing she can think about is how she doesn’t feel like herself. she’s literally wearing another girl’s face and she’s coming to the realisation that wearing her costume makes her feel wrong.

there’s a lot of self-reflection and kamala realises she feels most like herself when she’s wearing what she wants to wear and not a costume that she doesn’t feel comfortable moving around in. also, her powers are embiggening herself — she literally needs the wiggle room.

kamala’s clothes, desi clothes, they’re all so important to south asian culture and it really is a bigger deal than some people think it is. for her story, they act as a way for kamala to realise her self-worth as a brown, muslim superhero and as a teenage girl who is about to be under the scrutiny of the public.

artists representing her being happy with tighter, shorter clothes aren’t being progressive, they’re erasing character development right from the beginning of her story and doing the exact opposite of what they think they’re criticising.

and as for kamala’s father:

you can’t convince me he’s anything other than supportive of kamala and the new storylines they’re trying to hit us with of a family that would be ashamed of kamala… ridiculous and offensive. this is literally only 5 issues into kamala’s solo run.

My shitty take on Kamala’s new powers as a brown Muslim girl myself!!! Yipeee!!!

Ok so first of all I wanna point out im talking about the comic version, not the mcu version, they just butchered her completely in mcu. Great actor, terrible story change. Now with that out of the way I also wanna point out this is just me trying to make sense of a finalized decision, cause I would’ve preferred if they didn’t do all of this to her but they already have and we’re stuck with it so my brains trying to accept it by over analyzing it, while realistically marvel probably just did this for shits and giggles and or marketing + the mcu change.

Anyways now onto my point. I feel like Kamala’s death and rebirth isn’t the worse thing they could’ve done, especially adding an entirely new character aspect to her. I also think it’s really cool she’s the first inhuman mutant hybrid out there. What I’m taking from the story is that Kamala has finally got done accepting who she is, accepting her inhuman self/also her identity and back ground. She finally feels comfortable in her skin, and then all of a sudden an incident happens and she is reborn to find out there’s an entirely new aspect of her that puts her back into the cycle of feeling scared. I relate to this cause growing up I didn’t like being brown either, I hated it, and once I finally accepted it, I ended up finding out something that felt like it ripped my just healed wound right open again. We see Kamala be scared, we see her fall back into who she was in the start of the story. The girl who didn’t know how she felt about being her, being something that is “normal.” It’s something she has to go through again and it’s tiring, but from my perspective, it’s kinda realistic and relatable.

That might just be me and my delusions but idk, I just hope they write it well!!

ALSO PLEASE MARVEL TOUCH UP ON THE FACT SHE LITERALLY DIED AND COME BACK, WHY ISNT SHE STILL FREAKING OUT???? like ik it wouldn’t make sense for lore or whatever, but i feel like it would’ve been a little bit reasonable if we saw her try and deal with the idea she’s now died TWICE and come back both times, and ik she technically “handled” it in the iman story, but that story to me was more about accepting the idea of her being a mutant a little bit, but idk.

ALSO PLEASE LET HER SEE HER FRIENDS, NOT JUST MILES, LIKE SAM OR VIV OR ANYBODY BROOOOO!!!

Miles doesn’t remember what he was doing the day he met Ms Marvel in the lobby of the Avengers watchtower. He doesn’t remember who he was waiting for, or why he’d come at all. All he knows for sure is that one second he was alone, and the next, he wasn’t. His life was changed with a single glance to his periphery.

The first thing he noticed about her was the ruby red color of her scarf, her sleeves, and her boots. Her petite frame came second—she was one of the few teens his age actually shorter than he was—but what came next, and what captivated him the most, was her eyes. They were big, wide and expressive. So much so she that looked as if she was seeing everything like for the very first time, and they were the same color as the thick and voluminous brown tresses that teased her shoulders.

He had a hard time discerning what her gimmick was supposed to be by the design of her costume, but he didn’t really care. He still found himself imagining what her amber skin would look like beneath the golden light of the sunset before he could stop himself, very grateful that his gaze remained hidden behind the inanimate lenses of his mask.

He should’ve asked for her name. Or, no. Her hero name, he guessed. There were a lot of things he should’ve done to break the ice and get to know this girl that commanded his attention the moment he laid eyes on her, but she thankfully took mercy on him anyway.

“Hey.”

He blinked, hoping to think of the clever line that’d inexplicably bound them together.

“Hey,” he said instead.

“My codename is Ms. Marvel.”

Miles felt his lip quirk up at the connection between her and Carol Danvers’ original number. It reminded him of the thing he had going for himself. “I’m Spider-Man.”

Her eyes narrowed curiously. “Uh, neat. Does the other one know?” she probed quite ironically.

“Yeah, totally. He’s cool with it.”

His answer seemed to set her at ease, because now that introductions were out of the way, she broke out a smile that almost made him fall over. A lot of other domino masks covered everything within its bounds, but not hers. Her oak gaze was left bare for to him to quietly get lost in.

“Can you believe we’re working with Iron Man and the Avengers?” she said.

“It’s crazy, right?”

“It’s…” her smile faltered, and for a moment, he panicked and thought he’d said the wrong thing, accidentally cast some aspersion on her and got ready to apologize…but then it came back, much more wistful, and he allowed himself a discreet exhale of relief. “It’s everything!”

And that’s how Spider-Man met Ms Marvel.

It’d be a long time before Miles Morales got to meet Kamala Khan.

I NEED A BOMB!! THIS IS SO DUMB!! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING????

HER POWERS FROM ORIGIN WAS SUPPOSED TO be upsetting and unnerving with her shapeshifting powers, expressing how uncomfortable and gross to show and express her relationship to being POC and a teenage girl!!! (I’m not explaining this great but if you’re a Ms marvel fan you would understand)!!! 

This is exactly what the TV show did and claimed it would be better to not get confused with Reed Richards because 1. they care about white men more and 2. they just didn’t want to put in the effort to show her actual story. In the TV show and the movies they gave for that crystal platform powers instead of giving her actual fucking powers which has a very distinct meaning for her story!!!

And then on top of that they say “ crucially, this isn’t a super power fans expected Ms. Marvel to get”??!! Like what the hell??? Yes we did!! We knew that they were going to try to pull some bullshit to type more into and see you while it might not be bright, purple, pink and blue. It’s still glittery which crystalline. Which counteracts from the actual point of her story it’s dumb. She didn’t need to be a mutant. They could brought her back to life in any other way. They decided to turn into mutant because a horrible horrible comic book writer decided to kill her off because he’s misogynistic and racist.

OK, I’m getting too angry but this whole addition to our powers is so dumb like there’s no reason for it and it just feels like an insane cop out. I could talk a lot about the new gigantic X-Men and her resent stories when it comes to Ms. Marvel because it’s so stupid. Let me know if you want to hear more complaints about how they’re butchering my girl.
