If you wrote an IT fanfic on Ao3 called areas of expertise I want you to know that a) I’ve loved that fic for years thank you genuinely for writingit, it cracks me up still b) the images in the fic are broken so some precious memes have been lost

Hopefully you see this even though it's been a few days - this should be fixed now! I self-host the images on a domain I never use anymore but continue paying for every year because if all my old mostly-locked LJ entries that no one will ever look at again suddenly had broken images I would LOSE MY MIND, so it's extremely funny that everything ended up with broken images anyway. Anyway, my point is that the images were technically always where they were supposed to be but I guess the domain wasn't SSL encrypted (I am uncertainly repeating words, I don't know what this means) and that was cool in 2020 but in 2025 most browsers are like "I am NOT loading this file, I don't know where it's been." But I fixed it by agreeing to some terms and conditions I absolutely did not read, so I assume that's just everything handled forever.

Thank you for loving Puzzle Stan! He is precious to me and every time I see a good tweet about birds or puzzles I add it to the gdoc for the sequel I will never actually write. Like two years ago I did get asked how everyone would react to Elon Twitter and those tweets are here. I would like to lightly expand upon it now in 2025 by saying that yes, Mike's message board gremlin background DOES make him this AU's closest equivalent to the Menswear Guy.

(Also just as a general PSA if anyone is ever looking for anything I put on the internet that they now cannot find/access...I can almost guarantee you I still have it and I will locate it.)

I'm not On Here anymore, but every once in a while something happens with 1D that compels me to make an appearance, if only because this site has chronicled so much of my 1D journey that it feels wrong for the long tail of that experience not to be documented as well.

Liam changed my life. Not in any specific "X led to Y" way that I can point to. I don't know what would be different about me now if I'd made some different choices in October 2012 and never gone down this particular road - but I loved One Direction, and I loved Liam best of all, and that defined my life for years in a way that I will never forget and will always be grateful for. For years, when I was miserable, he made me happy. He brought so much joy into my life, often through his own seemingly boundless capacity for joy and gratitude.

Earlier this year I came back to Tumblr to mark the end of my Liam journey - partly, like I said, because it feels weird NOT to come back to mark the big stuff, but also because it felt necessary, given how little traction it seemed like Maya's interview was getting, to boost it with whatever decayed remnants of my platform here still existed.

I thought it was the end, and it was certainly the end of something, but if I thought there would be anything after it...I thought it'd be complicated feelings a few years from now about a half-assed reunion at an awards show or charity event. I thought it'd be an unfortunate numbness at Liam and Louis popping up every so often to be Liam and Louis. I knew it was the end of something for me, but I just assumed that meant there were years and decades ahead of us sprinkled with happenings, things I wouldn't enjoy the way I once would have and the ongoing experience of reckoning with that. I was done with him but he was still someone I'd once loved with everything I had, and I wanted him to figure himself out and emerge better on the other side, preferably out of the public eye but somewhere.

There was just supposed to be more.

So uhhhhh if you'd told me 24 hours ago that Liam, after being totally off the grid for six weeks, would fly to Uruguay to see Louis perform and walk around wearing Louis tour merch, I obviously would have assumed that would be a highlight of my year. That sounds like a fucking fever dream! I would not have been able to conceive of how it could disgust and anger me! But god it's so fucking gross to be like "allegations about to drop....time to hop on a plane and get Lilo trending" like FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF, DUDE!

Anyway. So much of my Liam journey took place here on Tumblr that it feels necessary to document the end of it as well. IT'S OVER, I HAVE NO SON, IT'S SO OVER WE WILL NEVER BE BACK, ETC ETC ETC.
