Shout out to Pokemon apparently for just casually making characters that defy gender norms? Also apparently proving that I still have subconscious biases despite being enby because I was FLABBERGASTED when I found out a certain character wasn't the gender I expected

Can a yuri lesbian and a yaoi lesbian truly be together?
Social identity branches out in all directions, like a fractal. You subdivide your traits and distinctions until a new set of niche descriptors satisfies your ever-growing urge for place. These are merely social shackles. They share the same genealogy that cis people share for the term 'heterosexual'. It's all a grift, a waste of your mental energy. You are self-ensnared by fictitious social-jargon, but it should mean nothing to you, truly. - When one realizes that it never ends, that the fractal is truly infinite, you make an active choice to abandon the search for the bottom, lest you risk drowning in its spiral. You could merely accept that you love yuri lesbians AND yaoi lesbians, that you love lesbians, that you love yaoi, it doesn't fucking matter. You simply love what you love.
Look at yourself in the mirror. is that a person who lives under the perfect categorical definition of any-one kind of person? You know it doesn't. So why do we believe that these niche terms help define our roles as human beings? Does it bring you comfort, having these self-appointed titles? Do you feel safe surrounded by people who call themselves the same things as you do? Or is it merely a glass shield protecting you from an intimidating truth: that you can be anyone, and do anything? Having that much freedom is scary, but it also means you're never beholden to the restrictive nature of category ever again.

Absolutely convinced that Sayu is the ultimate transfem litmus test If you are a cis man and you go through her entire battle and you don't want to be her by the end of it (like, any of her forms), I think that's just it. You're cis forever.

Michiko and Hatchin was great, honestly. It's messy, and has a few unfortunate stereotypes, but the characters are largely well rounded and have such impactful stories. There's genuine love here, and it's maybe one of the most authentic expressions of love that I've seen. Love isn't all sunshine and roses, it's not always happy. It's actually more often difficult and rough, but no matter how great the struggle, we always see things through to the other side.
Also Hatchin, while absolutely not trans, has maybe the most accidentally trans narrative ever. The actual themes conveyed with her are still really good though.
It's a solid 8/10, but it's easily my favorite 8/10 I've ever seen.

The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.
They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.
Trans people are just a scapegoat. They want total control over everyone's self expression. They want the right to mold you into their perfect little cog in their dehumanizing machine.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility. Our rights are your rights. Our destruction is your destruction.

I'm definitely gonna need to let it stew for a bit, but Rise of the Guardians is cute. It's definitely got a kid's show message, but I do appreciate that there's more to it than just "fight your fear." If you know me (and unfortunately I haven't posting here that much so woops), you'll know I love a complicated main character, and Jack Frost definitely delivers. I wish that his similarities to Pitch Black were explored a bit more, because something I also like are complicated villains. On the surface, Jack and Pitch want the same thing, they just have different methods of doing it. And if Pitch wasn't the actual manifestation of fear, I feel like there would be potential for him to be actually a little sympathetic. I also really liked that everything with Sandman was completely played straight, even if I knew what was going to happen. Honestly a pretty good watch, 9/10

I finally watched Sonic 3 today, and I liked it. I didn't love it, but I felt it accomplished everything it set out to do well enough. This is a problem I've had since Sonic 1, but I hate when stories spell out their themes, and Sonic 3 is a victim of that as well. Genuinely I feel my least favorite aspect of all of these movies is Sonic himself. I don't know why, but having him go through character development doesn't feel right, and I think I may be blinded by a different kind of video game Sonic on this. If it were any other movie, I think I'd like the development he goes through. Shadow was really well done though, the movie was surprisingly able to capture the weird sibling energy that he and Maria had. The action scenes were definitely some of the best I've seen in a while, but I also haven't watched a lot of recent movies. Like at all. I felt a lot of the Robotnik jokes ended up overstaying their welcome when they weren't funny to begin with, but the comedy was generally alright.
Overall, definitely the best Sonic movie so far, just a few personal issues with it.

With the rise of AI, I have been increasingly appreciative of things that are flawed. Nothing's ever going to be perfect, but I think if there's heart - real heart - put into something, it'll shine like gold regardless. My dream as an artist is to keep fucking up long enough until I eventually make a masterpiece.
