My art summary for 2019 :)

I tried to include a mix of stuff

Did a lot of HTTYD art this year and also started reading warrior cats at the start of the year and started drawing some warriors art too. There’s also the Catra I did in November when I started watching She-ra.

Dawnflower

Moonclans Assistant Medicine Cat

Mother- Oatleap

Mate- Briarheart

Kits- Duskpaw, Sunpaw, Pinepaw

Dawnflower is a very caring and kind-hearted cat and loves helping cats in need. She started out as a warrior with a fierce and fiery spirit and as a young warrior fell quickly for Briarheart, a tough, ambitious tom who matched her bold personality. The two were a good match for each other at the time and enjoyed each other’s company, they could often be found playfully sparing each other or racing each other across the territory. But as Dawnflower began to reach adulthood she no longer enjoyed being a warrior as much as she used to and disliked the violence she had to use with other cats and didn’t want to fight others anymore. This caused Briarheart to drift away from her as their interests began to differ from each other and he still very much enjoyed his role as a warrior in the clan, and he couldn’t understand why Dawnflower didn’t feel the same.

Dawnflower then fell pregnant with Briarheart’s kits and she was delighted to be able to retire her warrior duties and instead spend her time in the nursery or close to the camp. Briarheart was happy but by this time they weren’t spending nearly as much time together as they used to and they had drifted from each other so much that cats could hardly call them mates.

Still Briarheart checked on Dawnflower regularly and though they weren’t as close as they used to be Dawnflower was still happy to see he was interested in his future kin. Whilst Dawnflower was more around the nursery and the medicine den she began to become interested in herbs and could often be found in the medicine den talking with Oddeye about them and how he used them.

Moons went by and Dawnflower gave birth to three healthy kits, afterwards Briarheart came to see her and the newborns in the nursery the moment he was allowed to and naming the kits was a joint effort between them.

As the kits grew Dawnflower was glad to see that Briarheart stuck around the camp a little more to help raise them, but she would often catch him urging the kits more towards being warriors over the other jobs within the clan but she didn’t think too much of it.

Duskkit and Sunkit had taken an interest in being warriors since they were very small, however Pinekit had always leaned more towards being a scout and his father’s pushing and persuading made him uncomfortable. When it came time for the kits to choose their future duties within the clan Duskkit and Sunkit chose to be warriors whilst Pinekit chose the scouts. Briarheart wasn’t very happy with Pinekit’s decision but Dawnflower fully supported her son and scolded Briarheart for not doing the same.

Soon after the kits apprentice ceremony Briarheart and Dawnflower decided to officially split as mates as they felt their relationship was not what it once was and that they no longer worked well together as mates. The kits left the nursery and moved into the apprentice den to start training for their chosen duties and Dawnflower had to also go back to her duties, but she didn’t want to continue being a warrior and instead requested that she become an assistant medicine cat.

She now helps Oddeye in the medicine den or spends time helping out in the nursery looking after the clan’s queens and kits and will gladly babysit kits whilst queens take a break to stroll outside the camp.

‪Been trying to make a decent looking run cycle for a while and they never ended up looking very good, but I’m actually pretty happy with this one :) ‬

Decided to try out Sai and painted Foxflight, I like the program a lot :) There are very limited filter options though (colour balance, levels, ex.) but other than that it's pretty good.

Oddeye

Moonclans Lead Medicine Cat

Siblings- Nectarbreeze

Oddeye is a generous, good-humoured tom and loves his position as lead medicine cat. Before having others to work with medicine den he was quite lonely and began to miss sharing a den with his friends in the clan, but since Dawnflower, and then later Sootpaw, joined him in the medicine den he is a lot happier with their company and has greatly enjoyed teaching them both how to treat injured and sickly cats.

He and Dawnflower work well as a team and he has a great bond with his apprentice and loves to see her boundless enthusiasm for learning about and collecting herbs.

Mapleflame was trained as a scout so he had some different training to his siblings, also Foxflight and Robintail had the same mentor because they work well together and they were on the same level and were both training as warriors.

So I decided to try out Artfight this year! I’ve got a several characters up right now but there’s still a few I want to upload when I have ref sheets for them. Oh and I’m on team nightmare :)

Nectarbreeze

Moonclan Deputy

Nectarbreeze is a intelligent she-cat and is good at strategic planning, which made her an excellent choice for deputy. She is good at taking charge and does well with calming panicking cats in a firm but reassuring way.

Before being deputy she was a likeable and hardworking warrior and very much deserved her title as deputy. Though she thinks logically most of the time she also tries to make decisions based on what feels right in her heart too, and hates to be unfair or unjust to any cat, no matter where they come from. This clashes with Emberstar’s ideology and they often have disagreements over how deal with the other clans.

Nectarbreeze used to be close friends with Emberstar in their younger years but when Emberstar started training with her father they grew apart.

Clan Ranks

Leader

The leader is usually the one who makes decisions for their clan and is the one who represents the clan at clan gatherings. They are also granted nine lives went they become leader so they can be given a chance to lead their clan for a decent amount of time.

Deputy

The deputy’s job within the clan is to organise the scout and warrior patrols and keep the clan organised, they will also be put in charge temporarily if the leader ever need to journey to somewhere outside of their territory.

Lead Medicine Cat

The lead medicine cat is in charge of the medicine team in the clan and is responsible for training apprentices and is usually the one with the most knowledge in medicine. When the medicine team has to act quickly they are the ones who will give orders to the team and will tell them what to do. Lead medicine cats also have the strongest connection to spirits compared to the rest of their team and will usually be the ones to have dreams or omens sent to them.

Assistant Medicine Cats

There can be multiple assistant medicine cats in a medicine team and they could be warriors/scouts who have lost interest in their warrior/scout rank and have since become interested in herbs and medicine. But most would usually be apprentices who were trained as medicine cats from apprentice age. Assistant medicine cats can have omens or dreams sent to them but not very often. An Assistant medicine cat will become the next lead medicine cat when the leader of the team dies, it will usually be the assistant with the most knowledge of medicine and strongest connection to the spirits.

Apprentice Medicine Cat

Apprentice medicine cats will usually ask their clan’s leader or lead medicine cat if they can become a medicine apprentice when they are a kit and will begin being taught when they are 6 moons old. After their apprenticeship and training is finished and they get their full name they become an assistant medicine cat until the leader of the team dies and they have a chance at becoming the leader for the medicine team.

Senior Warriors

The senior warriors are the oldest and most experienced warriors. Senior warriors are nearing the age where they can retire to the elders den.

Warriors

The warriors make up most of the clan’s cats and are tasked with hunting and feeding the clan, as well as patrolling the camp’s close perimeters. The warriors are trained to be the best fighters and how to hunt the prey on their territory.

Senior Scouts

Senior Scouts are the oldest and most familiar with the clan’s territory and what surrounds it. Senior scouts are nearing the age where they can retire to the elders den.

Scouts

The Scouts role in the clan is to patrol around the outskirts of the territory to check and make sure everything is in order at the territory boarders and also beyond the territory too. They will also seek out the best place for different herbs at different times in the seasons and the best places for different kinds of prey, which comes in handy especially during leaf-fall and leaf-bare as prey and herbs can both be very scarce in the colder seasons. Herb information is then relayed back to the medicine cat team and information about prey is given to the warriors.

Scouts are taught basic fighting moves and hunting techniques when they are apprentices so they can help the warriors defend and feed the clan when needed. Scouts usually take a big part of the day to patrol around the outskirts of the territory and so they will usually take breaks to hunt and eat before setting off again. Scouts don’t just look out for resources but also environmental dangers or changes in their territory such as a flood or a fire that looks like it could be a hazard to the clan.

Warrior Apprentices

Warrior apprentices are taught close to the camp and learn combat moves and hunting techniques to help feed and defend the clan when they earn their title as warriors.

Scout Apprentices

Scout apprentices are taught further away from the camp and are usually taken with the rest of the scouts to learn what changes to look for in the environment in case of danger and are also taught the best places to find different prey and herbs. In the early days of training scout apprentices will often train with the warrior apprentices so that both groups can learn basic combat and hunting.

Elders

The elders are cats that have retired their past duties as warriors or scouts because they have become too old or injured to do them, and so they can rest and be looked after by the clan for the remainder of their days in the elders den.

Queens

Queens are pregnant or nursing cats who are about to have kits or have recently kitted, they will spend most of their time in the nursery with their kits until their kits reach apprentice age, at which point they can go back to their clan duties.

Kits

Kits are young cats from newborn age to 6 moons of age, at which point they will become apprentices and start doing duties for their clan. Kits aren’t usually allowed outside of the camp until apprentice age to avoid them getting hurt or attacked by predators.

Emberstar

Moonclan Leader

What Emberstar doesn’t have in height she makes up for in confidence and her unwavering devotion to keep her clan alive and well. Though she is devoted and loyal to leading Moonclan she doesn’t care as much about the other clans who share the surrounding territory, and would quickly doom the other clans if it meant that Moonclan would survive.

She was brought up by the previous leader, Harestar, and her mother Nightleaf, but most of her time as an apprentice was spent training with her father. As a kit she was energetic and cheerful, and made friends in the nursery easily, one of the kits she bonded with the most was Nectarbreeze.

Harestar saw leadership qualities in her as a young cat and (unknown to Emberstar) was quick to prepare and train her for the future as the next leader. His ways of training were ruthless and rubbed off on her throughout her apprenticeship and into adulthood. Her brothers and mother saw how this was effecting her and brought it up with her on multiple occasions but she had stubbornly defended her father and carried on the training.

Her father lost his last life in a fight between clans that he recklessly provoked and soon after Emberstar was given her leader name she carried on in Harestar’s pawsteps with a cold and standoffish demeanour towards other clans as she was taught, but they were now intensified by the death of her father. She chose Nectarbreeze as her deputy because of her strategic and intelligent mind and the fact that knew her well when they were both young, but because of their differing views of the other clans they tend to have many disagreements.

Okay so I’ve decided to make the canon blog, it’s @duskish-warriors , I’ve already thrown some art up there :) So from now on this blog will be for my oc warriors stuff

Been thinking about maybe making another blog for my canon warriors stuff and keeping this blog for my oc warriors stuff, it’s just that the stuff I post will be less frequent on the blogs cus the art will be kind of halved between them.
