For a date, would Leo and Usagi ever want to try a traditional Japanese onsen?

Hmm, I don’t know man, I don’t think onsen is a typical dating spot? I’ve always had an impression it’s a place to relax in with your buddies or family. And I couldn’t help but think it would be pretty embarrassing for a westerner to go to one with their crush. At least until they’d get used to it. That said, we know from the comics that og Miyamoto loves hot springs, so the 03’ probably does too and would take the fam to one if they ever visited (sorry, no April, even though I love her. Though onsens were not separated by gender in Edo period, I doubt she’d be comfortable with that).

(Btw we just watched Thermae Romae and now I really want to go to one and chill and eat onsen eggs. I also now know Mikey should not be making ruckus is there).

Anyway, I do think they’d have more fun in the onsen ryokan. So maybe something more like that?

Hmm, I admit I have not read ALL of them yet, but I’m a huge fan of the earlier 80/90s issues. I really liked the more rounded look of the characters and the way the stories were written. My fav arc was the Ino story, I literally cried when he found his new life, but also because Usagi and Gen crack me up, they’re such an iconic duo and I love Gen (the 03 tmnt really did him dirty, he’s such a good character).

Thank you for the ask anon. My first thought was; ‘they’d probably think anything’s perfect as long as they get to spend time together again’, but then I realised; ‘yeah, Leo’s so gonna overthink and overplan their dates though ’, followed by; ‘Usagi’s life is filled with travelling by foot, (often in awful weather) and exhausting in so many ways, he’d probably love to just stay inside and rest with his boyfriend.’

Those are the same guys as in my previous 03 comics, just in their mid 20s and navigating the ups and downs of long distance relationship.

What if Leo and Usagi kiss under a mistletoe. Will they actually do it?

(For those who have not seen the Christmas Aliens episode; Raph’s operating a movable mistletoe to help Casey get a kiss from April and Mikey is missing for most of the Christmas night, getting chased around the city by some thieves).

Well… no. Not yet anyway and for quite some time.

It’s 2004, world wasn’t very kind to gay people back then, or helped much with figuring things out for young queers (I would know, I was one). He still needs some time to precess. He just found his first best friend and he’s cool and strong and makes him happy and that’s all he wants to think about rn.

On the other hand feudal Japan was surprisingly okay with two men being involved romantically (despite the problematic side of things… good place to remind everyone 03 Usagi is a teen as well), so he’s a little confused by Leo’s mixed messages.

It’s okay, they’r still kids figuring things out. And when they will, there’ll be time for kisses.
