Problematic Interview

On a rainy Dutch afternoon we were, to our great surprise, invited to Amsterdam to give an interview to people who, unlike our- and yourselves, get a lot of money for using tumblr. Due to a common Dutch problem (public transport) we were late, but fortunately we were offered to sell our self-worth through the use of e-mail. So we did.

An excerpt of the interview was posted here, including interviews with various other tumblr users who are apparently famous (don't worry we didn't know either.) Sadly, being the self-absorbed douchebags that we are Because we always want to fully explore our options to your entertainment, we were not quite satisfied with this excerpt and how there are words put in our mouths to make the 'feature' flow. So hereby we present to you the full, uncensored, unedited interview.

Enjoy. When and how did you hear about Tumblr? H: On a beautiful summer day I closed the curtains and the internet told me. M: Guessing from that description I think he went to browse certain photography blogs. H: Don't you judge me! M: So long story short; Lesbians made us discover tumblr. What made you decide to start your own Tumblr -- both personal sites (if any) and Dutch Problems? H: I studied in Sweden for a year. There, I found out about the Tumblr "Swedish Problems." M: Which we decided to rip off. H: But better! And Dutch. M: That's what we keep telling ourselves, anyway. What’s Dutch Problems all about? H: Observational humour sold through lowbrow jokes, slapped on a cheap meme-generator template. M: I couldn't have said it better myself. What kind of blogs do you follow? H: WhoIsLoesje, FUCKINGHOMEPAGE, Ghettohikes, ItsAlwaysSunny (in Philadelphia) and TextsFromBennett. M: And various other national problem tumblrs, so we feel less miserable about ourselves. What’s your perception of the Dutch community on Tumblr? What are they interested in? What draws Dutch people to Tumblr as opposed to other social networks? H: Frankly, I think the Dutch have a rather large internet presence on all social networks. Having English as a nation-wide second language helps with that. M: Well that, and Hyves is gay. Name a Dutch Tumblr you recently discovered that you really like. H: WhoIsLoesje. M: They meant recently. H: It's the most recent. M: Fair enough. We aren't really that active as followers or part of the community. We're mostly doing our own thing. Who’s the most famous Dutch person you know of that has their own Tumblr? M: The person sitting right next to me. H: We should watch more RTL Boulevard to answer this question. How do you explain Tumblr to people who are unfamiliar with it? M: We don't. It's a blogging site, that kinda speaks for itself. H: One o' dem internet thangs, y'all. Have you gotten any professional or creative work -- or media interest, or any other sort of real-life attention -- through exposure on Tumblr? M: Yeah, yours. H: Also, some people made fan art for us. M: Sadly, we haven't received the cat pictures we asked for on our about page. H: I still cry myself to sleep over that. What would you like to change about Tumblr? H: More lesbians. M: I have no problems with that proposition, whatsoever. How do we get Queen Beatrix to start her own Tumblr? M: Introduce her to it and see if she likes it. H: And show her our blog, of course.
