The best example of redemption arc, in my opinion, is the character of Zuko. Go see The Last Airbender and you'll understand.

Moreover, in storytelling, the redemption arc has several outcomes depending on how you behaved: if you were the worst of the worst, the price to pay is death in order to repair all the damage you caused and to deserve this redemption. So take into account the severity of the actions and how they are punished, because that's how you recognize a good redemption arc: the consequences are always present and must be weighed according to the character's actions.

Be concerned when there are no consequences in the redemption arc, no price to pay, and forgiveness is literally offered at the first opportunity. That's a bad redemption arc. I love Kallus in Rebels, but I think that considering everything he's done, he doesn't pay enough (if at all) for the consequences of his actions. Just saying.

And I find it sad that it was botched, Kallus deserved a much better redemption arc.

i feel like so many people misunderstand redemption arcs. they’re not about forgiving past actions. they’re not about softening previous behavior. redemption arcs are about realizing past behavior was heinous and resolving to be better, do better. that’s why so many redemption arcs fall apart upon close scrutiny.

I appreciate the irony of Thrawn wearing a white shirt even when out of uniform, but I tried different color combos on him and they just didn’t look right… turns out white is just his color LOL. Let’s just say that he’s wearing light colors for comfort, after all his Chiss biology wouldn’t mix well with Lysatran heat. XD (Thrawn wears long sleeved shirts to the beach send tweet.)

When are certain SW fans going to realize that the Jedi are the heart of Star Wars? The Jedi are what made Star Wars unique compared to other space opera franchises. And why is that ya'll don't have this same energy when Disney constantly shoves more Sith / Empire and Mandalorian stuff at us? Why is it always "there's too much SW media with the Jedi in it"????

I also just think it's extremely dishonest to act like Rebels was a bunch of kiddy crap when the third fucking episode is about one of the main characters' ptsd from surviving a genocide. And the fifth episode has the Empire using a Jedi's decayed corpse to lure the rebels into a trap. And episode 13 has two officers being decapitated simultaneously for failing one too many times. And the season finale has the villain commit suicide cause he'd rather die than face punishment for his failure. And season 1 is the least dark season, by the final season we get to see a pregnant woman getting tortured. This isn't me trying to make the show out to be edgier than it is I'm just making a point.
