I love that Elain gave Azriel the Solstice gift first, because it wasn't to reciprocate something he had given her or because she was expected to. She had simply been paying close attention to him noticed something small about his behavior, remembered it, and acted on it with care. She didn't give him the gift to get anything in return. She wasn't doing it to impress anyone or follow tradition. She simply wanted to ease his pain. It was very sincere and meaningful because again, it came from her own choice and what she felt which is why, for someone like Azriel, who's used to being invisible in those small emotional ways, it hit very deep.

my manager from work and I were talking about book series and I brought up ACOTAR. we gushed about it then I decided to bring up the next book.

our ACTUAL conversation:

Me: “So… who do you think the next book is about?”

Her: “Elain obviously! She’s the last sister.”

Me: “And… who do you want to her to end up with?”

Her: “Well definitely not Lucien.”

Me: “Oh.. then who?”

Her: “Uh.. Azriel, who else? It’s obvious.”

Me: “Thank you! People online think she’s going to end up with Lucien and Azriel ends up with Gwyn.”

Her: “Huh? Gwyn and Azriel? That makes no sense. They don’t even interact much. They literally do not make sense together.”

Me: “I KNOW!”

BECAUSE IT IS. you don’t need an english degree to figure this out people. SJM makes it clear, even from ACOMAF. from the bat boys meeting the archeron sisters, to mor drawing 3 stick figures that look like feyre next to three bat boys, to every CANON interaction afterward. it’s always been 3 sisters x 3 brothers. ITS. ALWAYS. BEEN. OBVIOUS.

casual readers read the books how they’re supposed to with no one telling them online who to ship because it’s IN THE BOOKS. this isn’t rocket science!

before i joined the online discourse i shipped elain and azriel. to my surprise, when i hopped on for the first time, ready to share the love of the two characters, i went head first into a war zone with no warning... because i didn’t think i would need one! i thought everyone shipped them together!

SJM & bloomsbury need to release this book already. i’m sick of the stupidity i see online. they just need to drop it with no announcement at this point.
