working with little kids is so dangerous. you get one kid who has a unique way of speaking & then spend the rest of your life with an internal monologue like “me’s go bathroom?”

do you have any advice for building an audience on social media for your original work in 2025? is there anything you would’ve done differently if you had to start over?

I made a doc about growing your social media following back in like 2021 I think? A lot of it still holds up

I can't really speak to gaining a following PURELY off of original work because a large part of why I have a following for IDWTBAMG is because of my fandom work and fanart. All the fanart I did was genuinely stuff I enjoyed and there are similar themes in all my work, so a lot of people remained interested in my original stuff when I pivoted.

But if you're starting from scratch I'd suggest just really continue to hone your craft. Having a solid style and eyecatching art is one of the easiest way to get people interested. Then the "stop drawing your OCs at 3/4 in a white void" meme is harsh but true hahaha. Make comics, or do drawings that show what the characters are about to get people invested. Then be consistent! Posting a lot (unfortunately) does really help
