Tips for yer feral trolls

Hello, because I’ve seen a few people now doing this. I am indigenous (Maori to be specific), I belong to a “tribe”. I have elders. I am from a community culture. I love the barbarian aesthetic but please, please do not relate tribal cultures to anything “feral”, “primitive” or anything of the sort as it’s... actually pretty racist.

A lot of stereotypes surrounding indigenous tribes make out tribal aesthetics to be primitive, but indigenous tribes have always been at the very seat of innovation and to conflate tribal systems to something feral is, however unwittingly, contributing to deeply racist rhetoric. I understand the intent is to have that cool barbarian fantasy aesthetic but please, there is a line, and calling your feral colonies of trolls “tribal” is crossing it.

I’m not shading any one particular person. I’ve seen multiple people do it and some, but not all, have been called up on it.

Some good things to read up on are the noble savage stereotype in media, and also just what classes as racism for indigenous communities in general. I am fully aware these trolls aren’t a representation for real people/cultures, but their imagery is.
