Some spins on the "mostly male team with a token woman" trope:
The woman is trans and stayed in her old circle of bros even after transition
The woman is the only one in her circle of "girls" who didn't turn out to be a trans man

One Month In // A.Eagleton
Different cats greet us each morning, / uncoiling from sleep to claim empty pillows. / We exchange good morning texts over coffee / and share our dreams like peanut butter toast. / We take ourselves to work in separate cars and trudge alone through the gruelling day. / You call me as the traffic crawls home / but I wish you didn鈥檛 have to, / wish we could swap workplace gossip / side by side as our pasta boils / before we watch a film on the couch / and the cats fall asleep in our laps.
One Month Out // A. Eagleton
My cat greets me every morning, / uncoiling from sleep to claim my pillow. / Last night鈥檚 dreams drown in cups of coffee / as my purring companion steals bites of toast. / The drive to work is an intangible haze, / the eight hours that follow ambiguous, / and the trip home done on autopilot. / A hollow dial tone echoes in the kitchen / as I grumble over single meals and cold sheets / that have only just become a problem./ But, the cat seems happier than he was before / so I am glad that one of us has found peace.
