âMmm? You canât prove that,â Glorfindel said through a yawn. He settled back a little farther to lean his head back against the tree. âSorry, I justâŚThose runes really got me. I think I just need a little bit of a nap, then Iâll be good to go again. I promise.â
Istariel sighed, leaning back as well. âYeah, well, I can use a bit of a breather too, honestly,â she murmured. âSo letâs...relax a bit, I suppose?â
âYou were kidding about the runes on the floor killing me, right?â(Istariel)
âWould you believe me if I said no? You are standing on those runes right now,â Glorfindel teased.

âI have never been fond of ships, this is just another reason to keep my feet on dry land,â Glorfindel grumbled as he set the now empty flask on the ground. He took a deep breath as he gripped the offered arm as firmly as he could manage. It took nearly all the strength he had to make his way to his feet, even with Lomearâs assistance. When he was fully upright, he couldnât help but sway into his friendâs side. âPlease tell me you know where that camp is. I donât know how long I can do this.â
Lomear nodded, somewhat tersely, as he took note of his companionâs current condition. âItâs a bit inland, and not too close, I strayed further than I was supposed to.Just as well, since I wouldnât have found you otherwise,â he said calmly. âWe can get you on my horse and make our way back.â

Glorfindel woke slowly, feeling as though someone had tried to bash his body to pieces using brute force. He peeled his eyes open, breaking the salty crust that had formed over his eyelashes so he could see he was laying in sand. Moving carefully, he rolled to his back, groaning with the effort before he closed his eyes again. The sun was so bright he slung an arm across his face.
He was so tired. He needed more rest before trying to get to his feet. Then he could figure out where he was and try to make it home.

The elf tensed in earnest now, every sense on alert and just as well. Yes, this was not like Vazra, not even in the slightest; something was not right here.Â
âIâm thinking you ahould get some sleep, in fact, not stay awake,â he said smoothly. âYouâve never bothered with my desires or fears before,â he gave her an affable smirk, deflecting the question.Â
@earelloxtiruvaiâ
Lomear all but stared at her. She shouldâve beenâŚunconscious for a good long while, he was fairly sure of that much. But she was awake, clearly shaky-someone else mightâve missed the subtle shaking of her hands, but he was not someone else-and there was definitely something he was missing here.
âI will tell you,â he said coolly, deciding to play it off as if nothing seemed amiss at all, âthat I think you mightâve hit your head a bit too hard back there. My desires and fears are my own, Vazra and of no concern to you at all. You havenât asked before. Why do you now?â

âThereâs a first time for everything,â she sighed, âWhy couldnât it be right now?â The usual Vazra wouldâve snarled or gave a snappy retort, or both, and not done the thing that she did next.Â
âPlease, come closer,â she pleaded. âI need your help.â There was the same glassy look in her eyes, half lidded as she looked at Lomear from where she lay down. âKeep me awake, tell me.. what would be your dearest desire and most terrible fear?â

âHmm I donât wanna make a mountain outta molehill but thereâs somethinâ about that smell..â Nightshade looked rightfully perplexed, eyes furrowed and stroking her non-existent beard.
âWhat kind oâsmell was it?â Samhain asked, hopeful this could be a potential lead.
âIt was sweet. A little flowery, but also not. Sugary more like. I know Iâve smelled it before..â Nightshadeâs senses were keener than most so seeing her hesitation proved the lead was going to be challenging.
Istariel was still watching the space around them carefully, magic pulsing at the ends of her fingers, ready to be called upon at a momentâs notice. âWe could, presumably, take a closer look at some of the stalls dealing in herbs, potions and the like?â She suggested. âSee if anything triggers the same smell?â

âThis whole situation is alarming,â Glorfindel pointed out before falling silent. He took a moment to evaluate himself and how his body was feeling, covering the silence by struggling to take another drink from the flask. Then he sighed. âI can try to stand, but I can make no guarantees. Just lifting this nearly empty flask is making my arms shake with effort. It has been a very long time since I felt this weak.â
Lomear scoffed at that remark. âYes, I can imagine. Especially if youâve been out into the sea for the past few days,â he said with a shake of his head. He watched the other elf through sharp eyes, not missing the way his normally steady hands shook with the mere effort of holding the flask of water to his lips. âIâll help you, I can support you easily enough,â he said.âThereâs a sort of base camp not too far from here. We can warm you up there and Iâm fairly sure one of the Rangers is a healer,â he said, getting to his feet andoffering Glorfindel an arm up.Â

âWell now, you arenât supposed to use that knowledge for nefarious purposes, which includes saving me from myself,â Glorfindel returned as he closed his eyes. He wasnât going to be able to stay awake much longer no matter how much he wanted to stay awake. They still didnât know who had set those runes, or what their true purpose was and that made him uncomfortable. âI do better staying still when I have company, but if we are both together we may still may attract trouble. At least we would be able to work together to get back out of it again.â
Istariel settled herself next to him, back against the tree, with a relieved little sigh. âItâs settled then, I am sitting right here with you and if thereâs trouble, both of us together will be able to best it. We make a pretty good team,â the redhead grinned to him amusedly.âYouâre falling asleep, arenât you?â she nudged him gently with her shoulder.Â

âThen you came at the best time, wouldnât ye say?â said Samhain, a chuckle dancing on his lips. He turned back to face the warden, âWeâll have to consider the possibility that this might notâve been the result oâmagick.â
With a newfound confidence, the warden commanded security to round up all the âenchantedâ mythos and to bring them to the Council building, where the warden settled all official matters and disputes. The trio were being accompanied to the building when Samhain noticed Nightshade looking distracted. âSomething wrong, Nightie?â
âHm? Oh, Iâm not so sure.. Didja guys smell somethinâ ..funny?â the petite girl asked.
âIâll say,â the redhead snorted. âThough not exactly what I expected, not by a longshot,â she hummed, watching the proceedings through careful eyes. Everything seemed to have settled as quickly as the chaos had started, she noted.Â
Istariel glanced to Nightshade at the girlâs question. âI canât smell anything off, no. And I didn\t sense any magic either, and I probably wouldâve,â she added thoughtfully.Â

âNo, but I Â have something better. I canât die, â he tells her. Â Nobody ever believes him when he says that, but there is always the off chance she might.
The redhead merely shrugged at those words. âRight. Thatâs pretty handy, yes and, given the threat, I daresay youâll need it,â she hummed smoothly.Â

Mia grinned brightly at his response, her blush fading. She was surprised by his offer but happily so. âI knew there was still goodness in you, Lomear,â she declared confidently, but there was still a playful tint to her tone.
âI accept your pledge, good sir. Let us go and stop this darkness once and for all.â
He didnât smile when she did, he didnât really remember how to-not that he was going to say so. Lomear regarded her gravely, shaking his head at her words. âThere is nothing in me, girl. All that was, died a long time ago and I would know. I killed it,â he said coolly, but there wasa tinge of regret in the words despite himself.Â
He nodded a moment later. âThere is no stopping it now. All you can hope to do is make sure no one is caught in its path.â
âI pledge my loyalty to youâ (Lomear)

Amelia looked over at the Elf, startled by his confession, her eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushed a bright pink. âWh⌠What?â she whispered softly.
âTo me?â she questioned him, stepping closer to look deeply into his dark eyes.

It turned out Lomear did not need to wonder for too long, as the next moment, Vazraâs eyes flew open. There was something quite easily noticed was different about her, however. The duonalura turned her head slightly, quietly finding him, and there was no trace of her usual sharp gaze upon him. Instead, her eyes were glassy, losing focus as a slow smile stretched her lips. The sweet, close-lipped smile looked eerie replacing her usual wicked grin. Vazra reached out her hand slowly, the motion jerking a bit midway, as though she was not completely in control of her own body.
âWonât you tell me, Lomear,â she whispered softly, in Vazraâs voice but not her tone, âWhat would be your dearest desire and most terrible fear?â Her fingers touched his skin lightly, trembling upon his cheek.

@earelloxtiruvai || continued.
The elf rolled his eyes amusedly at her tone. âIâm guessingâŚyouâve killed one, tops,â he smirked. There werenât all that many wizards that he knew of, after all and most were accounted for. âMaybe two, since thatâs how many have gone missing over the years,â he teased her lightly. âHardly many,â he needled her.
He hadnât really expected compassion or words of concern-if he had, he wouldnât have mentioned his parents at all, but he knew Vazra, her kind, werenât exactly given to these sorts of feelings. And still, mentioning  the parents heâd never known sent a pang through his heart; he couldnât miss what he didnât even remember, but he still wondered, sometimes, if vaguely. And right now, he had no one but himself to blame for the topic coming up.
Bless Vazra and her sharp tongue, he thought a moment later at her words, clearly chosen with intent to hurt. They didnât. âA horrible person would perhaps put you out of your misery with that grievous injury of yours rather than try to help, you know,â he pointed out smugly, a smirk on his lips.

. âââââââ
She hissed her reply, "Enough experience to kill another. And keep this in your vacant mind, you can't keep track of every fuckin' wizard there is."
Her words did not quite affect him in the way she had hoped, he wasn't the slightest bit riled unfortunately, but the elf was quiet for a moment, lost in thought, and that was enough satisfaction to Vazra. At the very least what she had said got to him somewhat.
"Hmph. The worst kind of all are those who do something good to feel better about themselves and then brag about it," she retorted, turning her head sideways just a tad so Lomear could see her wicked smirk. "Now shut up, would you?" Whatever she had sensed lurking had gone quiet, too. And that was more unsettling, for uncaring bystanders would go about their business as per usual. Only scared prey or its waiting predator would keep being so still. Vazra wondered which role they occupied then.

âEEEP!!â a familiar voice squeaked not too far away. Samhain turned to see Nightshade leaping over debris and doing her best not to step on any little mythos running underfoot. âWhat?? Happened?? Here?? I go to get your snapdragon juice anâ come back to.. this??!â
âWeâre jusâ as perplexed as you are, Nightie.â The Goblin Market warden and several of their guards arrived on the scene. Seeing as Samhain and company were in the middle of it all, they were naturally questioned. But the ghoul stood firm, giving clear instructions. âWarden, these mythos seem tâbe stuck in some trance. We need your help to round up anyone acting unnaturally so we can properly investigate the matter.â
âBut I donât sense any magic afoot!â the warden remarked. Had a spell been cast or something powerful enough to possess multiple users at once was about, they would have sensed it. It was highly unlikely, considering the level of the Goblin Marketâs security.
âIndeed. But the only way to make sure is to round up those affected before anything else happens.â And as they went around herding the rest of the victims, time passed and the effects were starting to wear off.

âWhen I heard this place was exciting, I did not expect this,â Istariel murmured, so only her current company could hear, recalling her imps with a gesture. âI didnât sense any energy either and one would expect that, well, magic users would sense anytthing strong enough to cause this, indeed,â she shook her head as creatures started blinking in puzzlement, no doubt coming back from whatever had happened to them to begin with.Â

Glorfindelâs laughter was interrupted by another yawn. âI would stay there long enough to sleep off whatever it was that just happened,â he said reasonably enough. Then he offered her a wicked grin. âAfter that I might stay inside for a while, but I should warn you that I do know how to pick locks.â
Istariel chuckled. âAnd I know how to cast locking runes and we just saw youâre not exceptionally good with runes as a whole,â she teased back with a wicked grin of her own. âBut perhaps I can sit with you and keep you company. That might dissuade you going after trouble again for a little bit.â

Glorfindel lowered the flask of water to his lap at the news of how far they were from home. He must have drifted quite a ways after the boat had gone down while it was still storming. The pounding of the waves must be what had left him feeling as though he had been beaten. He didnât pull away from his friendâs hands, truly appreciating the support. âI hurt everywhere,â he admitted, starting to drink again.
Lomear snorted. âYes, that much I gather, but I meant if you hurt anywhere that might feel...alarming,â he said with a faint smile that was more relief, really, than anything else. âIn other words, do you think you can stand if I help you?â

Lomear only pretended to be drinking, a drink largely untouched in front of him. âThe trainers would need to set an example,â he hummed to Glorfindelâs words, pointendly looking at the twins. âEven more so if theyâre Elrondâs own sons. I think you two should lead the recruits out there,â he advosed, sounding perfectly sensible and serious.
âYou really know how to ruin a pep talk, donât you?â(Lomear)

âIâm rather safe than sorry.â, Arawynn replied calmly. There had been a couple instances where people had claimed that their animal companion was different and wouldnât be scared of her, only to end up with said companion panicking.
A lopsided grin appeared on the redheadâs face when the other woman commented on her walking speed. âIâve been doing this for quite a while already.â, she explained. For the moment, following the Orc-traces was all too easy.
The warlock nodded with a hum at those words. âClearly quite a trekker, yes,â she replied smoothly, though she did wonder how someone on foot would be able to outpace her-basically- demon horse so easily. She did not voice her concerns though; perhaps later, they had work to do right now did they not?
âTheyâre bold, not even trying to conceal their trail.Theyâre either drunk on their own victories and not expecting trouble or theyâve significant numbers,â she remarked as they went on, finding more and more signs of careless destruction asthey travelled.Â
@earelloxtiruvai asked:Â â donât lie to me. was it you? did you do this? â(Istariel)
Arawynn had found the destroyed camp by accident. Simple travelers had set it up and at some point, they had been attacked. According to the traces, the attackers had been Orcs. The people camping here hadnât stood a chance, none of them seemed like a fighter.
The redhead had just about finished her investigation when the voice of a stranger addressed her. For a split second - just before turning around the woman - an amused smile appeared on her face. Was this woman naive or dumb? Because announcing that she was there and had seen the potential killer was a pretty certain way to get herself killed. If Arawynn was responsible for this.
âYouâre lucky that it wasnât me who did this. Itâs the work of Orcs. From at least two nights ago.â, she explained calmly.

Amelia was obviously a fed. She had the body language, the posture, the clothes of a federal agent. However, the panicked, cautious look in her eye, the clutching of a worn rosary in her hand⌠Whomever this person was, it was clear this was not a mark. This was not for the job. She was genuinely worried for him. She lets out a silent sigh, opening her mouth to speak but shuts it, then nodded yes to the doctorâs request.
âYes, we will. Couldâ Will you keep us posted, please?â she made her own request.
The medic stopped in her tracks, watching the other female closely for a few long moments. Her eyes were wide, her posture...tense, she noted, and she was almost sure the item she was clutching was some sort of...prayer beads, sheâd seen humans use those before around here.Â
âFriend of yours?â she asked, nodding to the closed door at the brunetteâs back.
Unintended-Elliane/Amelia [closed rp]
It was never a good day when there were federal agents in the clinic.
Even more so when Elliane suspected they werenât average federal agents; they were asking far too many questions and were quite...reluctant to leave, for people who had supposedly merely escorted a suspect in for some medical aid.
The doctor had her suspicions, but she kept them to herself, opting to stay unnoticed instead. The last thing she needed were the men and women in suits to focus their attention on her, she frowned at a pair of them loitering in a corridor.
Another stood just outside their suspectâs room, a brunette female. The doctor made sure, for the multiple time, the glamour she used to conceal her pointed ears and fangs held, making her appearance more...human-looking. âHeâs not waking up any time soon...How about you get your colleagues to move to the waiting area and let us do out job?â she asked calmly.
