clark kent is so special to me. he looks normal and perfect on the outside and he’s this big gentle giant. everyone in town knows him and loves him. he’s a farm kid with loving parents. and he’s happy but maybe he doesn’t quite feel right there, like there’s something a little bit different about him. maybe he can’t quite work it out but he does know it’s there. and then he does find out and it changes his whole idea of who he is and how the world works, and he decides to be so deeply good about the whole thing. no, he’s not rich, he’s not famous, but he can do good. no, people won’t understand who or what he is, or where he came from, but he can do good. and it was never even a question for him. such an overlooked aspect of his character is that you can be different, you can be alien (literally or otherwise) to people, you can be feared and hated for the way you were made or where you came from, but you can still do good about it.

People sleep on how iconically unhinged ER could be at times; plane crash? Cute, how about we get the same doctor have an arm slashed off by an helicopter and a couple of seasons later being crushed to death by another helicopter? And why don't we blow up another doctor whilst Gold Digger by Kanye is playing in the background?

Woke: Lana Lang is a good character with some bad writing issues.

Bespoke: Lana Lang was abandoned or treated poorly and lied to by almost everyone she ever loved, but all she ever wanted was to love and be loved and find her place in the world... so she handed out second chances even when she probably shouldn't have, and tried to trust people even when they broke her trust repeatedly. And yes she made some mistakes. And yes she had to grapple with her own dark shadows. But despite all of that she's still on the side of life and love and light.

Feed the robot 🥹

I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
