I live next to a hospital. Hospitals are where humans go when they seek healing... when something happens with their body that they don’t understand or can’t quite fix on their own. Hospitals used to be symbolic of health. It’s where I went when I was a kid to get my jaw bone and facial nerves repaired, to be nursed back to {health}. And as children, we naively believed that those people who save lives and know the answers must also be super healthy, perhaps the healthiest of humans. It’s not until we’re adults that we realize this isn’t the case. 🌿 Each day [that I leave my cozy apartment], I pass by humans in scrubs standing on the streets of my neighborhood with blank stares on their faces, puffing heavily on toxic blends of chemically dredged tobacco leaves. My heart becomes heavy and I take a deep breath, as I see the epitome of the American genius role model smoking their {LIFE} and their {health} away. Maybe they don’t have the time needed to invest in quitting, maybe they’ve accepted their addiction’s consequences, or maybe they are actively cutting back. Maybe they feel alone, maybe they hate their job, maybe they haven’t established a connection to something Greater that gives them guidance. I don’t know!! All I know is that health care professionals need to cared for too. They need time to be free, to work on themselves. They need people who listen, they need love. So if you know of someone in the healthcare field that could use some extra love, show them you’re their for them. Tell them. Inspiration for this post comes from the fresh air my lungs soaked in while hiking through the fern covered woods of Blarney Castle... as well as my sister’s girl friend who is a nurse and has completely released her dependence on nicotine. ❤️ How incredible!! The cost of not being yourself is greater than the cost of being yourself and people not vibing with you. When you find that people aren’t vibing with you, or vice versa, there’s something in the way. Perhaps your past experiences are extremely different and it’s difficult to resonate with one another. Maybe the Ego is comparing, leading to despair. Could their be emotional walls built up inside that you’re not willing to confront and break down? 🦋 It’s a damn journey, one we’re all on. 2019 will be the year that Kayla: • stops the anxious habit of biting her nails, something I’ve been doing for many years • learns how to brew her own kombucha so she can stop spending half her income on bottled booch 🙃 • learns how to practice reiki on myself and others 🤗 then build a practice that creates income of some sort • graduates @nutritionschool and starts her own health coaching business • doesn’t take life too seriously This last one is something I’ve battled with for a long time. On one hand, I’m super carefree and trusting in myself and the Universe to guide me on this beautiful life path... but on the other hand, my mind tends to go into this place of fear, where I feel like I need to be doing more or learning more. Can anyone resonate with that? But seriously, we are right where we’re meant to be. American culture is soooo go go go, learn, do, repeat ~ but if I realize that I can accomplish just as much by lovingly doing one thing at a time... Traditions can change. When traditions change, it’s a perfect time to practice non-attachment and openness. 🎄 Christmas this year was quite different for my family. I spent Christmas Eve in solitude (my choice), none of us [not even my mom!] attended Christmas Eve service at church, I finally got to try my parents’ homegrown cannabis, and went out to dinner which I have never done before! I put my food sensitivities aside while I tried some delicious teriyaki tofu among many other yummy sides. I know Christmas flew by and it isn’t at all what it used to be... but I certainly will not forget this one. Change is good.
